  1. That was my understanding. That was one thing that floored me. I guess it was bring your baby to school day.
  2. I have a gold bridge I to sell you. You will love it!!
  3. I agree. Sadly, the mother is the most of that baby's problems.
  4. And that is why it was taboo. The following refers to an unplanned, unwed or single person pregnancy. I don't think that a young teenage girl who gets pregnant should be made to feel like a low life. (I can't see how that helps anyone) But at the same time, I don't think it should be...I am unsure of what words to use. (perhaps, considered "normal") It makes life tougher for both the mother and the child, even if the father of the child is involved. (which most are only marginally at best) Many young mothers and their children overcome these extra obstacles and do well, but I think mo
  5. A friend of mine's daughter started teaching this year. She is teaching 7th grade English (Literature), not in Paulding County. The first day of school, one of the girls brought her baby to school to show the other kids. :unknw: :unknw: :unknw: I know that some will say that they went to school with girls that got pregnant while in school, but I graduated high school in 1976 and I never HEARD of a girl in our school getting pregnant while in school.
  6. My wife shortly after we were married was upset about our relationship. She cried; "You aren't happy." I replied; "I don't want to be happy, I want to be with you." And that's when the fight started (true story)
  7. It looks as if gonefromhere is gone from here. I hate to see anyone go, but I couldn't help the pun. Sorry, gonefromhere.
  8. Now teacher don't you fill me up with your rules ...everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school.
  9. We were all very proud when you finished it. We are looking forward to the day when you complete Tony's Pony.
  10. I still like it and relate. (although I have worried at times what that says about me)
  11. I have a great line which involves your icon, but I will refrain from using it. Awwww, what the heck. The next thread we do on books will be about picture books, that way you GA Tech people can participate.
  12. Greatness?? This must be some strange use of the word with which I am unfamiliar.
  13. Same here. I wish I could get a job that pays me to read what I want to read.
  14. I cannot see this thread title without thinking that there was a lost pugilist, wandering around in his trunks and gloves.
  15. I would wish him a big ole congratulations, but since I am still chewing, I will just give him a small congrats. (jealous you know)
  16. Never read it, it's now on the list. Looks good. (I don't read much fiction anymore)
  17. As an old guy I know I am out of tune with today's schools. But one thing I have always thought was that I was fairly well read when it came to books. I recently saw a reading list for one of the local 7th grade classes and I had never heard of any of the three books that were required reading. This made me think, What was a book that you read in school that really stuck with you? One that you really enjoyed or that made a big impression on you. While I may not be original, mine are Flowers for Algernon and The Catcher in the Rye. A nod goes to To Kill a Mockingbird. One book
  18. Double post. (I guess I'm not as good as I thought) (Or I am twice as good as I thought) (your choice)
