  1. You can always tell a Mel Brooks fan when you say that line and they laugh. Or almost any part of this one "Work. Work. Work, Hello boys. Have a good night's rest? I missed you?"
  2. Whew, thanks, I thought for a moment I was going to have to sweat. (I sweat so much that I would make a deal with the devil for air conditioning) (hmmmm, now that I think about it, that may be counter productive in the long run)
  3. Here are a couple of good scenes from The History of the World Part 1. The Inquisition as only Mel could do it. (with a nod to Busby Berkeley) Here's Mel on the 10(?) Commandments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TAtRCJIqnk
  4. PTSD is nothing new. It was first noted in soldiers returning from the Civil War. In WWI it was called shell shock. In WWII it was called battle fatigue. How much a person is affected depends on the person, how much battle they saw and what type of battle(s) they were. It also seems (this is my opinion based on a lot a reading about soldiers who saw action in the Civil War, WW! and WWII) that a person's family life, upbringing and religious beliefs can have a great deal to do with how much someone is affected when they return home. The biggest thing that happens to some people is t
  5. For the airport? I'll show them! I'm turning off my heat and air, that way they will never get another penny from me! I may sweat or freeze to death, but I will make my point.
  6. You're telling me! I had a full physical a couple of weeks ago. It was awful. The only good thing is that after that, anything else that happens is gravy. "Mr. Stradial, we are repossessing your car." "Does that involve fingers and my behind?" "Uhhhhhh, no." "Then repossess away my friend and have a great day!"
  7. I hope they don't need a taxi.....or a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
  8. Thank for posting. I enjoyed most of it. Where was the drama, did I fast forward through it?
  9. Congrats to your stepdaughter! I'm an old curmudgeon, get her a card and a cake and tell her she is lucky to get the cake. Ok, maybe not. I would go with the scope and the gift cards. (after all, you will be getting free doctoring for years to come)
  10. I don't think a 15 yr old taxi is going to make Paulding look bad. We got other things that can handle that. If Cobb can live with $50, then so can Paulding, but then $100 isn't that huge of an increase. My thought has always been that the "powers that be" didn't want a lot of taxi service in the county. That is not unusual in rural counties that are changing demographics and have the "old guard" still resistant to change. Heck, even back in the 70's, little ole Smyrna had a good taxi service.
  11. I do know this, if it is your car and/or you are driving, you are responsible for what goes on in that car, to a great degree. There are things such as dope that is not within your reach and things like that, but when it comes to open containers, the driver is responsible for making sure there are no open containers. Here are my thoughts about cops, if you are going to give me a ticket, save me the lecture. If you are going to give me a lecture, then don't give me a ticket. For goodness sake, don't give me both. I don't need another mommie. (or wife)
  12. I do not know the gentleman who has resigned to run for a different office, but here is my opinion on that topic in general. (like anyone really cares ) In general, if you are elected to an office, you should finish out your term before running for another office. There are exceptions to this, but they are few and far between. It could affect my decision to vote for you, ever, if you were just elected to an office (by just, I mean that you had 75% or more of your term left to serve) and quit to run for another office. Like I said, there would be exceptions to this but not many. But that
  13. I don't have an issue with gay people, except that I kinda resent the word gay being taken from the normal usage. (but I am not sure exactly who specifically to blame for that, I am thinking about blaming the ex, simply because it is easy) I have found homosexual people to be no different than straight people (other than the hanky panky thing), which is not really a ringing endorsement. BTW, the "Not that there is anything wrong with that." phrase was from the Seinfeld show where every time they mentioned someone being gay they added that line.
  14. Glad they are home. What is it with boxers getting lost lately? I have to admit, every time I see a lost boxer thread, my mind immediately pictures some guy in boxing trunks, boxing shoes and boxing gloves wandering around lost.
  15. I don't know anything about Clay Aiken, but I though he was a teen idol singer or something like that. Also, isn't he a little light in the loafers? "Not that there is anything wrong with that."
  16. My rule of thumb is, if the story doesn't make logical sense, then something is being left out or something is not true. Usually something is being left out.
  17. You had to go and open that wound up again didn't ya. I may not always be happily married, but I am always faithfully married. (wife has gotten mean since she started that paleo thing) Now I have three hot dog places to try and eat at. Nathans, the Home Depot and the one in Marietta. So many dogs, so little time. (I like the Yellow Jacket dogs at the BBQ place also)
  18. She has a profile? The Home Depot hot dog gal?
  19. I don't have any point to make, I just wanted to say that I like surepip's phrase, "nattering nabob of negativism". It reminds me of Dr. Smith from Lost in Space.
  20. Did anyone ever say whether the hot dog girl was cute?
  21. We tried to tell you ladies waaaaay back when, that having those commercials showing those mother/daughter talks while they were walking on the beach were leading us down a slippery slope. Now look where we are. Can you imagine watching these commercials with your grandmother? Or great grandmother?
