Bingo. Someone give this lady three gold coins.

Indentured servitude and chattel slavery were two very different things.

If I were a black person who had to drive by a statue daily of a person who fought to keep my ancestors enslaved I would definitely feel a certain way about it. We have progressed as a nation and if we want to keep progressing we need to consider all of the citizens of our country. Interesting fact, Robert E Lee himself was against memorials for the Confederacy.

Occasionally people learn from the mistakes of their parents. Other times people continue the ways of their parents. -

jennilyn77 replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
People get confused at the Mount Tabor Bobo four-way stop. I can't imagine the confusion with a roundabout. -

Paulding County School District will DELAY dismissal by ONE HOUR

I'll either keep my son home or get him out early. I'm not waiting around an extra hour to go get him from school. -
Wow is all I can say. You equate being gay with slave holding. "To some the war is not over"? Um, yeah it is and you lost. Time to get over it. You have a right to your beliefs indeed, just know that they aren't all based on facts.

The South waged war on Humanity when they decided it was okay and fought for the right to continue to own, rape, lynch and sell people.

Postman, you should check out a show called Underground. It's about a group of escaped slaves but it portrays them as warriors fighting for their freedom, not the sad victims most slave movies and shows portray. It's really well done and touches a lot on facts and real stories from that time. I think you would like it.

My son starts first grade and no, I'm not ready. I'm going to miss my relaxed mornings and sleeping in. Having my daily routine back will be nice though.

Idk but we'll see if it does any good.I had to use a few slices of cucumber this afternoon for a sandwich and I put the top back on with a toothpick. I laughed a little bit when I did it. I'll check on it in a few days and report back.

Sen. John McCain diagnosed with brain cancer
jennilyn77 replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
John McCain is a true patriot who cares about his country more than any party. I wish him well and I'm sad to hear it. -
I'll give you an A for effort.

My eyes are wide open and I see what's going on. Please present to me an unbiased source of who is funding BLM. I'll wait. We all have a choice here. Open your ears and listen, or remain steadfast in your preconceived notions. Not everything is a conspiracy. We have a policing problem in America and it's not getting any better.

My comment was just in general not really aimed at you or anyone here.

I discuss these topics almost daily with a large group of black men and women that I've become friends with through groups about black history Etc. They see and take this issues very seriously. It's a very big deal to them. They are literally scared for their childrens lives. Many have told stories about being profiled or their kids being profiled. These aren't some crazy leftist black power type people. They are regular responsible adults just like you and me. At the end of the day, white people don't get to tell black people how to feel. All I can do is listen and learn, and I have.

Part of the problem is that when an unarmed white woman is shot by police we are told to wait until the facts come out. But when an unarmed black man is shot people scream that he should have complied and followed directions, without waiting for facts. Then, if he has even the slightest bit of criminal history or history of drug use it's immediately brought to light. There are differences between the way the public and certain media outlets respond to these unfortunate occurrences. Perhaps this tragedy will help people wake up to see that our police need better training and systemic racis
