Yet another example of the peace loving religion of Islam
Peaches replied to feelip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It is not my place to interpret it. I'm not Muslim. Most Muslims don't interpret that to mean kill people in 2014. I do know that the Bible talks about killing entire cities including children. If god can order that sort of genocide back then, can't that same god order it for today? -

For all we know there is a contradiction. You really are a hypocrite. You allow for non literal word interpretation for what you want, but not for other groups. -

This is just bizarre. I think this is some sort of joke people on here are playing. It's like trying to have a discussion with a recording loop instead of real people who take in what is being said. Just bizarre. -

You allow for non literal interpretation for yourself but not for others. That is hypocritical. You're being rude and defensive and not a good representative for religion at all. -

Thank you. It says what it says and you can't get around it. Or there is room for interpretation in the Bible and the Koran. Don't forget the group of Muslims that were protesting in Oklahoma just the week before and they said it doesn't mean that the Koran has to be literal. It means it or there is room for interpretation. Christians can't claim non literal interpretation for themselves but not give that same wiggle room to others. -

Where did I say I could find? I said I bet I could. Now you're deflecting. Either it means what it says or there is room for interpretation. if you have room for non literal word interpretation, then so do other groups. Hypocrisy is what drives people away from Christianity and you are doing a very good job of making me not want anything to do with it again. You are an example of "do as a I say, not as I do" then you have succeeded in making me wonder why I should even bother. -

You can do that search for yourself. The point is you just said it doesn't have to be word literal and and can be interpreted differently. Muslims are no different and that group that was protesting were interpreting it non word literally just like you are doing with the Bible. -

Just like I bet I can do a search and find several Christian scholars who say there is a contradiction in the two colors. -

The Muslims that were protesting ISIS the week before the Oklahoma killing said the Koran didn't mean that, just like you said those two colors don't exactly mean two different colors. -

OK. So when the Koran talks about killing people who don't convert, maybe that is just one interpretation and maybe it doesn't mean exactly that? Maybe? Those colors are different no matter how you cut it. -

Maybe both meant what they said and they contradict each other. Maybe it doesn't mean exactly what it says and can be interpreted different ways. Pretty clear they didn't say sorta purple. Maybe you can just explain it away. Maybe it is a mistake. There is a difference in what they said. -

So we can just interpret stuff any way we want to make it fit. Or maybe it really is a contradiction. -
My parents took me to all kinds of churches when I was growing up. They taught me that every church is different because everyone believes something different and likes something different. We have completely different views of what it is supposed to be like. I also try to find out what a church believes about things. There are some key this, major things, and minor things. I keep looking and one day I might find one I like. So far, I've only found one a handful around here I like but there are too many things I also don't like about it to go there regularly.

The military has been a path to citizenship for a long time. Budget cuts mean all parts of government has to share the cuts. We could raise taxes to cover the added cost but I don't want to support that right now. We can't stomach tax hikes so we have to cut. This is just one of the cuts.

This is a very mean-spirited thread and not at all funny.

It was just last weekend a group of Muslims was protesting on Oklahoma. -
If the committee finds something, I hope they make sure the public disgrace is severe. If the committee finds nothing, I hope there is a very public apology from everyone who has piped the music for the witch hunt.

The hospital is not the one to call because hospitals are not law enforcement nor social departments of the state. Call DEFACS. There will have to be an investigation before by DEFACS before anything can be done.

Airstrikes can take care of some of ISIS. Can't do that with Ebola. This is the humanitarian thing to do. I agree that it is good that other nations are helping out. -

Palin did say in an interview that you can see Russia from some points in Alaska but she didn't say the "from my house" tag." Some people believe Obama is a Muslim or at least a Muslim sympathizer, too. Many believe Obama was not born in the US. Why would anyone try to make any of that about liberals or conservatives? The people that believe that sort of stuff are just stupid and both sides have their share of crazies. -
Can we go back to the fearmongering that this whole series of posts is about? Nothing happened. Could something have happened? Sure. It could happen tomorrow, too. The fearmongering only serves to prey on others. Maybe we should start asking questions about the motives of those who make predictions and it doesn't happen.

Yes, there is. When they invaded the land, they were told to wipe out everything, including children. That is genocide. The United States was founded on liberty but allowed slavery. That was the prevailing culture. Times change. The Romans gave us a republic form of government but they had public fights to the death. Your point? The Middle East has not yet reached that point of culture change. Women are still subjugated. People are brutally killed. That is the culture that has not changed yet. The people there have not had the economic advantages, opportunities for education, or so

You can look the scripture up for yourself. This is exactly the pettiness I was talking about. The culture of the Middle East is not yet where the West reached a hundred years ago. The West already fought its religious wars and decided it was no longer worth fighting over gods and religious ideas. The West decided that killing children and non-combatants should be avoided at all costs two hundred years ago. It still happens but in the West, we decided it shouldn't and we take that value statement seriously. The Middle East has not had its religious wars and not gotten sick of the killing.

You're point in all that? It was a land region. There was a loose confederation of a distinct Palestinian people. A group invaded and wiped out entire cities, including killing the children with a total annihilation policy. Who started the whole mess? Does it really matter? The culture of the Middle East, not Islam, is one of barbaric acts. The Jewish scriptures command killing of children, too. I'm just saying that Israel is not innocent in all this and have done the same as the Islamic groups today. The only way to solve this is to admit that both sides are wrong and Israel doesn't get a fre

So they left. Abandoned the land. Then came back hundreds of years later, claimed "My seat!" and wiped out entire cities, including killing children. I cannot imagine why the Palestinians are still mad over something so trivial.
