BILL CLINTON.........YOU LOVE HIM OR YOU HATE HIM
politicalmonster replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I cut out some of your extra commentary and shortened the preamble to emphasize where you went wrong. You tried to use the preamble as an example of how expansion of government is justified, but read the beginning and the end by itself. We the People, established a Constitution. Period, full stop. That Constitution was designed to LIMIT government power, and specifically spelled out what the Federal government could and could not do, and said that everything else was in the hands of the states and the individual. So trying to use that document to support government expansion of welfare -

Notice that three more deaths have been reported to VAERS
politicalmonster replied to pcolafl2002's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Since you are such a stickler for the facts, I figured I should point out that the FACT is that this report does not claim to draw any connection between the vaccinations and the adverse events. They are events NOT results. It is simply a raw data clearinghouse. Those deaths could have been from a car accident, and if it got reported to the VAERS group, they would still add it as an adverse event. Trying to portray this as something it isn't just weakens your inferred arguments. -PM -

Board of Commissioners Decide to Raise Tax Millage
politicalmonster replied to kp527's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Nice try. Ok, let me try to cut through the double-speak again... I am ONLY paying less because my property value went down. The tax RATE (millage rate) the government is charging me has gone up. Which means that when my property value goes up, I will not only be paying the higher RATE, I will then also be paying more in overall tax. In other words, the part of the equation the government controls has increased. I cannot for the life of me understand why people want to shield the government from valid scrutiny and criticism when we call a tax hike for what it is. My property value h -

Federal Court Upholds GA Ban on Guns in Churches
politicalmonster replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Actually, if you read the entire ruling, you will see that the only thing the court did was to affirm the lower court's ruling that the plaintiff's did a really crappy job of presenting their case. The way they framed their arguments in both the original case and the amended case allowed the court to frame the argument as being a case of the right of the plaintiff's to bear arms under the second amendment vs. the right of private property owners to prevent the carry of firearms on their property. As most on here have said, we agree that private property owners should have the right to not all -
Let's talk about wasteful and extravagant spending
politicalmonster replied to LPPT's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Fine, the grant provider; I was using general fund as a generic term for going back to where it came from. My point stands in that the argument of "if we don't use it someone will" is facetious at best. The money would eventually go back from whence it came, and whoever provided it will have an opportunity to utilize it in some other manner, that hopefully would be useful to someone. A dollar wasted by government is a dollar that I should have been able to keep, since it is MY money! -PM -
Let's talk about wasteful and extravagant spending
politicalmonster replied to LPPT's topic in Paulding County NEWS
No. All politicians are hypocrites, and liars by their very nature. They simply can't keep all their promises to all of their constituents. The only difference is the degree to which they lie, and to whom. I am saying we need to hold politicians accountable, not excuse what they do because the money comes from a different "pot". Any money government spends is money they took away from you and I as taxpayers. Doesn't matter if it is city, state, or federal. -PM -

Pubby or anyone else that is supporting the projects such as the fountain and sidewalk: Please tell me why it is ok for politicians to spend money on something that is NOT NEEDED just because the money is there? So what if the money was a federal grant? If you pay federal taxes, that is still your money!! And it is being spent (especially in the case of the sidewalk) on something that has no benefit! I drive by that sidewalk every day, and I have seen about 12 people on it over the past 6 months. You people act like if we don't take the money it will just be forever locked up in the grant -

I'm sorry, but this whole "It wasn't local tax money" thing drives me nuts! Our elected officials at each level are responsible for making sound fiscal decisions with any spending they undertake! I don't care if the money came from the National Account for Somalian Fart Studies, that is still a dollar that the government took from me, and has now been spent on a sidewalk going to nowhere, that was not needed, and nobody will use! If we the public don't hold our officials to account for ALL wasteful spending, then there is less incentive for them to worry being fiscally conservative acr -

But the problem is that those on the "religious right" vote for politicians that oppose gay marriage, and thus they impose themselves in others bedroom. So if true Christians felt the way you do, they would not vote for politicians that ran on any type of gay marriage platform. Government has absolutely no place in the bedroom period. As for CFA, unless they take some action that discriminates against an individual for being gay or in a gay marriage, they have done nothing wrong and will continue to get my business. -
Would I do it? Don't think so, but I wasn't in their situation, so I don't know for sure. Does it bother me? No. It doesn't bother the corpses, so why should it bother me? Would I be upset if the enemy did this to our soldiers? Sure, that is why they are the enemy, just as we are their enemy. We do things to each other, up to and including killing, in order to demoralize and defeat the other. Welcome to war. But in the end a corpse is a corpse. It has no feelings to hurt, it feels no rage at a lack of respect. I would be much more concerned if a video got out of us torturing some

Why Do So Many People Give Up Their Bargaining Rights?
politicalmonster replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If you sit back and look at the current discourse around this subject (or any political discussion for that matter), it gets pretty funny. As long as the power players (Unions, political parties, corporations) can keep all of us yelling at each other that problem XYZ is the other groups fault, they all benefit from our polarization. They know that as long as they can keep us roughly evenly divided (usually along party lines) that there will never be a significant consensus that will shift the surrent status quo. What does that mean for them? They all keep the same power and money they c -
Great, new next step in anti-gun control...
politicalmonster replied to GipperGirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Math, what math? You are not providing any more concrete numbers than anyone else in the discussion! Some are saying crime happens all the time, and you are saying it happens infrequently when brought down to the local and/or individual level. There is no "math" to be discussed. You have no idea how many people at your church or school or any other place are already carrying weapons every day. There are many many people carrying that nobody would even know because they are concealed. And there isn't a huge rash of injuries or random shootings because that isn't how guns work when the person -

politicalmonster replied to GipperGirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That isn't evidence, thats supposition. I can do it too: A gunman in the crowd = chance of someone innocent being shot More people with guns that can shoot the gunman before he uses his weapon = no innocent people being shot. There. A person with a gun just reduced the number of people being hurt. -PM -

Great, new next step in anti-gun control...
politicalmonster replied to GipperGirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Unfortunately, that IS the state of the world. I don't think it is fair to automatically point fingers at those that want the ability to carry concealed anywhere and accuse them of being "bloodthirsty" or wanting to kill someone. (Not that you did it, but one of the other posters earlier) The reality is that there is alot of violence in every city, and that you can be put into a life-threatening situation with someone wielding a gun at any time, anyplace; even schools and churches. I would simply prefer to have the ability to at least defend myself with equal force if needed. -PM -
