  1. I think I have the translation: Button their coats and park their cars??? How'd I do?? How 'bout tendin' the hawses on the fahm??
  2. I know, I never had Mexican food (except taco bell) until I moved here, and I think it all tastes the same...like feet! I'm not a fan of cilantro, so that could be why. I thought a chicken biscuit for breakfast was odd too. Had never eaten chicken for breakfast before!
  3. Congrats, I love my Dell!! About 10 years ago, we were going to buy our first desktop at Best Buy (out of state) and the sales kid on the floor was a real jerk. I told him it was our first and didnt know much about them, and he said (not in a funny way) "Well its about time you're in the 21st Century". I walked out.
  4. I know! I guy I work with thinks there is better food here because there are more fast food options. Boy, is he wrong!! He asks me what New England has that the south doesnt, besides lobster. I cant really give him names because it is the mom and pops that are so good. I miss the grilled red hot dogs (no, not the hot ones), at the diners.
  5. Or "I done did that"... okay I'm going to hide now...just in cases the southerners come back!!
  6. Prayers said. It is always sad when someone is hurting, but it brings tears to my eyes when children are hurting. Hoping for a very fast recovery for the little one!
  7. Even though "fixin" is easier than saying "getting ready to" I cant bring myself to say it!! I tend to get embarassed when I say "Ah Yuh" down here.
  8. Oh good! I hadnt seen that. Thank you, and thank you Nicholas Photography. I think that would be my biggest devastation...you cant get it back.
  9. The first time I heard toboggan down here I was at the baseball field and parents were telling their kids "Put your toboggan on!" And I'm thinking..."Huh??" Talk about confusion...
  10. This may get moved, and I'm sorry, but I wanted people to see it. There is an add in the free section of craigslist today for free picture restoration for flood victims. It seems legit.
  11. Those were the days! My brother was my neighbor before I moved here, and he plowed all the snow (probably an acres worth) into one pile between our houses so my kids could build tunnels and slide on it. I wish I had pictures on my computer of it.
  12. I've never heard of snow cream....feeling sad about my childhood now..... You know whats fun...when the snow is so deep when it is plowed that you can make tunnels in it!!!
  13. I'm in Southern Trace and we had more water in the roadway than last week, but we are on the higher side of the road, so it washed the other way. Sorry to hear.
  14. No kidding! All we were told is "Dont eat yellow snow!!!" Did you tell the southerners that??
  15. Okay, I'm laughing very hard right now!!! We accidently brought a snow shovel with us when we moved, put it in the yard sale for free...and we still have it!!! Also, I will be needing your milk and bread recipe!!
  16. You definately make some good points. What about non-emergencies? I have to make the decision wether to take my child to the doctors when he is sick or not. If I take him, it costs money. Plain and simple. If I called an ambulance, it would be free care?? Better use those tax dollars to purchase 10 times the emergency vehicles and staff because we all know how that would turn out. Everyone looking for "free" will be calling.
  17. I actually dont know why us Yankees have a bad name, I just figured I'd pass the buck!! What city?? Baawston? New Yowk?
  18. Thats why! Its the Yankee city people that give us all a bad name! My town didnt even have its own store. I wouldnt mind seeing a little snow, down here you dont have to drive in it because the city shuts down...so I hear.
  19. Really?? I'm from Maine and never found any....my boyfriend (I met in Maine) was born in Georgia and raised with the Southern values. I thought the men folk here are much nicer. Sorry Yankee men!! As for cold weather, I'll take a cool crisp fall, leaves changing color, fresh air....then right back to summer. I dont need cold air, brown trees, frosted windshield...BLAH!
  20. The Eagle Scout factor was added to the story to gain sympathy on his part. It doesnt matter what rank he is or what he has done in his life. This should not be a factor in the story. It is a person that chose to go off the trail, when the signs all say otherwise. No, when skiing on extreme ski slopes, you dont have to get dropped by helicoptors. Many of them are right next to the normal ski slopes, and people just go past the signs, just like the "Eagle Scout" did. Due to the rough terrain, the skiiers then need to be rescued by helicoptors, snowmobiles, etc. There is NO difference. Y
