  1. I'm quite sure that timber rattler that hubby and I saw back in the 1980s was at least 25 feet long. I think it might have been closer to 50 feet long. When there is a snake across the road you're trying to ride a motorcycle on, maybe the snake looks larger than it really is, but I don't think so.
  2. They were open this morning when I went by. If it is like the one that used to be on Austell Road, they close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Maybe it's just closed for the night. The one on Austell Road closed unexpectedly on June 2. Apparently that one is closed permanently.
  3. That's right! Don't give up. Congratulations to you. I can't wait to hear those words (I got a job) from my son in law.
  4. While there are many pharmacies around that accept the Co-Op Connections card, not all have the same price. Definitely check drug pricing because there can be a HUGE difference in price from one pharmacy to another. My husband takes Mobic for arthritis. I did a comparison pricing at three different pharmacies in my area, all of which we have dealt within the past. For one locally owned pharmacy, the price was $181.46 for 30 brand name Mobic, $9.04 for 30 generic meloxicam. At one of the big box pharmacies, the price was $185.01 for 30 brand name Mobic, $74.63 for 30 generic melo
  5. For the doctors offices, call and ask to speak to the office (or practice) manager. Don't bother talking with the billing person since they probably don't do that onsite anyway. Explain the situation to the office manager and ask if you can have your fee reduced and set up a payment plan. Almost always they are willing to do that. The OM will probably say they have to speak to the doctor about it. That's OK. He/she needs to be aware of your situation as well. They can't help you if they don't know you need help. In fact, if the OM says no, talk to the doctor. As for the drugs, t
  6. That is a VERY frustrating website to use. That's why I posted the link I did which goes *directly* to the page with a listing of pharmacies within 5 miles of zip code 30132 that accept the Co-Op Connections card. That website works quite differently than it used to. It used to be so much easier than it is now. You can search for drug prices as well. It's a little cumbersome to do a search but it can be done. The link for that is this one: http://cashcard.lc.healthtrans.com/Pages/d...healthtrans.com This is very nice since you can compare prices for the same drug at dif
  7. try searching here: http://www.connections.coop/index.php?coopID=99 Here's a link to a listing within 5 miles of zip code 30132: http://www.locateproviders.com/(S(iqjra155...p;button=Submit
  8. I've been known to change the station because of a particular song that came on. Definitely not just you. Definitely not just you. Hubby knows I won't listen to certain Barry Manilow songs but doesn't know why. It was before I met him.
  9. Yes, there is a downtown merchants association. Not sure who to talk to about it, but Tina at Somewhere in Time, Chris at the Craft Cottage or Nick at Nicholas Cole Photography would all be great to talk to and find out about the association. I know all three are (or were) active in the association.
  10. At least if your mind is in the gutter, you know where to find it.
  11. all this talk about bowling has made me want to go!! I haven't been in almost two years. I miss it sometimes.
  12. me, too. It's been 35 years YESTERDAY since my dad passed away. I still miss him terribly and the anniversary of his death is especially difficult. ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))
  13. When I was using the balls the center had, I had no problem finding 8 pound balls I could use. And trust me, my fingers are not the size of a kids finger. I have big fingers for a woman.
  14. Ahhhhhh. Now I can have a pick from more lanes. BTW, you can always buy your own ball. That way, you get the weight and finger hold size and placement the way you want. I haven't used a bowling center ball in almost 20 years.
  15. There is the classic car show every month during at least the summer. Most of the businesses that would normally be closed during those times are open. Maybe instead of an annual event, there could be a monthly event either for the months that the car show isn't in town or for a different day. Then there is the Farmer's Market, too. I don't think it is a matter of permitting as much as it is getting it organized. That is a huge, huge undertaking.
  16. The main problem is that the people who live in Dallas in particular and surrounding areas in general, don't see anything to draw them to downtown Dallas for shopping. That's odd because it is quite busy in the downtown area during the day. Yes, even now without the courthouse it is busy. Business owners HAVE to make a living. Many of the downtown merchants have been here for years and years. They *must* be making a living. I'd be willing to bet if customers told merchants elsewhere in the county that they really would like to see that business relocated to downtown Dallas th
  17. Maybe since both towns have so much in common and are so close to each other in distance, they could work together to improve both. I'm sure, having lived in Powder Springs for 31 years and having worked in Dallas for 15 years, if one did something to liven up things, the other would follow suit. However, since both towns are bedroom comnunities and therefore by definition do not have many businesses, to increase the number of businesses in the downtown areas of either would defeat the purpose of the towns.
  18. Downtown Powder Springs closes up at 6 p.m. on Saturday and doesn't reopen until about 10 on Monday morning. You think Dallas is dead? Try Powder Springs even on a good day. Only two exceptions are Hand Me Ups and the Book Worm. You want something to eat other than fast food in Powder Springs? Go to Hiram. Dallas is way livelier than Powder Springs. At least I'm pretty sure you can dance in Dallas.
  19. That's why I liked your suggetion about the outlet on the water heater. When hubby put new washers in my kitchen faucet, he didn't open the valve all the way on the hot water side and I don't have as much pressure on that side now. I can definitely see that happening for the whole house.
  20. We've been in our house 31 years and have had to replace water heaters twice. Neither time was the pressure of the hot water in any way affected when the heaters got old. You might have a bad pressure value instead or like PSD said, the outlet might not be opened quite enough. As pipes age, they tend to narrow and that would account for your more sluggish water pressure. No personal experience with Skyline but they did some work for my mom when she tapped on to the sewer and she was very, very happy with them. Personally, I couldn't think of a better recommendation because by that
  21. Patronize the businesses that are located downtown. Come to downtown and actually stop and get out to see what's there, instead of driving through and then saying there is nothing there. Then tell others. If you know of anyone wanting to open a business, suggest the downtown area as a location. Like several others have mentioned, talk to the mayor and the city council memebers about ideas for attacting businesses to the downtown area. Let them know that downtown is Dallas just as much as the Kroger shopping center is Dallas.
  22. Not only is tomorrow a special day to remember my dad who died in 1974, it is also the 35th anniversary of his death. My dad, February 19, 1911 to June 21, 1974.
  23. An air conditioning vent right above the bed or located somewhere making the air blow on you, maybe? or a ceiling fan blowing on you. We generally keep the vent over the bed closed so the air won't blow on our legs.
  24. I stopped at Kroger yesterday and bought a bottle of wine. They ALWAYS ask to see your ID, which I don't mind at all. But the cashier did say he thought I was old enough to buy wine. Then the checkout coupon printed out. It was for Poise pads. I just hope I got my senior discount because I think Wednesday is senior discount day at Kroger. Years ago I got quite hot about having to show my ID in order to buy some beer. I had stopped at a convenience store around the corner from my house. I had to stand in line for quite some time as there were about a half dozen people ah
