  1. It was reported last night on the national news that the eyewitness backed up Zimmerman's story. We're talking EYEWITNESS not a girlfriend on a phone.
  2. Being a racist when there may have been a good reason for Zimmerman to be suspicious is like thinking the FBI is after you when they aren't. Being suspicious with good reason is like thinking the FBI is after you when they are.
  3. You are TOTALLY misunderstanding what I said. I said because we don't stop it does NOT mean we want it to happen. I said the victim CAN stop it. Believe it or not, the victim is the one with the power. If they fight back, they aren't likely going to be a victim again. EVER. I'd love to be on a jury for a rapist because I think all rapists should receive the death penalty. Of course, if I gave that point of view during jury selection I would automatically be struck as a potential juror. I don't care if the rapist had a knife, a gun or just sweet talked the girl into it. And t
  4. Laurie, he wasn't DETAINING him. He was RUNNING from him. One does not get a blow to the back of the head by chasing someone, nor does one shoot someone in the chest when the person who got shot was running away. This is outside of ORLANDO, FL. It likely wasn't FREEZING outside. I was in the panhandle at the time and it wasn't cold! And I don't care what color a person is, why are you walking around at 2 a.m. in a hoodie. Just for the record, I have a black hoodie but I NEVER, EVER wear it in a way that would make me look suspicious.
  5. But Laurie, one thing that seems to fall by the wayside in anyone understanding is that Zimmerman was battered and bloody when the police arrived. I never knew a can of soda and a bag of Skittles could do such harm to a person. According to reports I have heard, Zimmerman had gone to his car and was trying to leave. The eyewitness report yesterday was that Trayvon was ON TOP of Zimmerman prior to the shooting. Quite honestly, if I've got a firearm and you're on top of me beating me, I'm going to shoot, too. The really bad part about this is when they determine that Zimmerman did
  6. To the OP, forgive me if someone else has mentioned this, but has your daughter asked them to stop? Nobody can take advantage of us without our permission. And that's not to say we have to WANT to be taken advantage of, nothing of the sort. It means that nobody CAN take advantage of us without us allowing it. If she tells them she does not like it and to stop and then they don't stop, she needs to land a right cross to their jaw or a knee to the groin. I'd be willing to bet they would stop then. True story here: we had a neighbor girl who was a bully. She would taunt, hit, punch,
  7. there appears to be an eyewitness, who pretty well backed up Zimmerman's claim. Another witness did initially but has since changed her story. And was I the only one who felt that Trayvon's mother had just as soon the truth did not come out because it would make her son look bad? I saw her interview on the Anderson Cooper show and she really looked uncomfortable being there and really didn't look like she wanted the entire truth known.
  8. to your statements: The price is gas is primarily under the control of the gasoline distributors. They dictate what the dealers, and in turn, the consumer pays for it. If demand is down and they still require their same profit and their increased profit, they simply raise the cost to the dealers. Consumers have little control over the price of gasoline. They DO have control over how much they use. Stop driving the little kiddies to school and let them take the bus and that would really help a lot of things--the environment, traffic and gas usage. Obama is not the greatest president a
  9. Was it not 2008 when prices went to $4 a gallon and there were fistfights at gas stations? Experts smexperts. Statistics say what they want you to say.
  10. give your daughter permission to haul off and hit the snot out of 'em. Make sure she waits to do it when someone has seen them touch her. I bet if they got the snot hit out of them, they would learn to keep their hands to themselves. NOBODY touches me without my permission. I WILL haul off and hit the crap out of them.
  11. My thought: this kid was INSIDE a gated community that had an armed security guard. That tells me that the community had problems with crime. You don't get an armed security guard without reason. Unless the guard was very new to the job, he would be familiar with the people who were supposed to be there--the residents. Granted, I haven't followed the story from the beginning and don't know WHY the kid was there. I support gun rights. If we allow this one incident to change our collective minds about defending ourselves against criminals, the criminals will have won. I still r
  12. Our friend who repeatedly got pulled over in East Cobb while driving a beat up Isuzu pickup truck is white. He also lived in Indian Hills (back when it was a really good place to live). Cop after cop told him he was pulled over because of the vehicle he was in because it looked out of place. And then, my hubby driving a red sports car on Six Flags Dr. Looked suspicious, even though he was coming back from a job interview. Red sports car in that area, yeah, I would have pulled him over, too.
  13. Look at the calendar. See what's coming up at the end of next week. Here's a hint: school. Prices ALWAYS go up around big travel events, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, spring break, first week of summer vacation, last week of summer vacation. Interestingly enough, oil prices have declined slightly this past week.
  14. If only we could. Hubby can't work anymore, so that's why the business is closed. Now I have NO hope of getting it stopped. Hubby asked me a few minutes ago how many houses I had plans to look at on this next trip. I told him *MAYBE* two but I wasn't even sure about that. We literally have looked at everything we were remotely interested in that was in our price range. Seriously. Their housing market is much stronger than ours. I guess that's the good thing about being in an area with tons of military bases.
  15. Then why do some black people feel WHITE people are their enemies? I think we're all in this together and if we're going to continue to survive, we ALL need to pull together instead of pulling apart. I'm not anyone's enemy until they show me that they are mine. Treat me with respect and I'll do likewise. Treat me with hate and I'll do my best to still treat you with respect so as not to lower myself to your level. I certainly don't fear blacks. Or Hispanics. Or Asians. Or Whites for that matter. I live in a predominantly black neighborhood in a predominantly black part of Cobb Co
  16. I totally forgot Copelands! We have eaten there for our anniversary before and it was AWESOME! Thank you for the reminder! We BOTH forgot Copelands. That is a very definite possibility, too. We had a garage sale about two years ago and sold our grill to a Pcommer. If she would be willing to cook the steaks for us next Monday, that might be a doable thing.
  17. Try being white and driving a old beat up truck in East Cobb. You'll still get pulled over REGARDLESS of your skin color. This happened to a friend of ours, multiple times and he lived in the area! Or try driving a red sports car on Six Flags Drive. You'll still get pulled over regardless of your skin color. Happened to my hubby. I think police pull people over less on skin color than they do vehicle and the area. If you don't look like you belong, whether you're black in a predominantly white area or you're driving a fancy sports car in a known drug infested area, you're going to get p
  18. glad to know it wasn't just me who couldn't tell what it was.
  19. You're absolutely right. NOBODY should play the victim, or the villain, because of something that happened in the past. And at some point, we all have to say "you know what, I'm responsible for what I've done and nothing more". I agree with the OP, why haven't we heard about this on the news? Where is the outrage over this? Was this kid somewhere he shouldn't have been? Apparently the kid in Florida was, whether or not he was an innocent person. He was where he shouldn't have been, doing something he shouldn't been doing or else there would have been NO REASON for the security guard to
  20. Your view must have been better than mine because I couldn't even tell it was a dog.
