Years ago when I worked in an orthopaedists office we had a patient who shot himself in the foot in order to keep out of jail. Plan would have worked fine had he not developed gangrene and infection in the foot and leg, requiring an above the knee amputation. Man was crazy! I actually got to know him pretty well when he and my husband met in vocational rehab.

When your kids grow up and move out how do you cope ?
Mama Carol replied to buggirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I had three girls. Two stepdaughters and then the daughter hubby and I had together. There was 10 years between the oldest and the youngest and seven years between the middle and the youngest. The oldest got married when the youngest was 7. While she didn't move out of state, she left the family. She basically has had nothing to do with either her mom's side of the family or her dad's side of the family since 1988. Five months after oldest daughter married and moved out, middle daughter who was then 15 moved in with her mom. While she, too, did not move out of state, she did not co -
Ok ladies, which would you rather have?

I already have the perfect man, so I'd rather be able to eat food and not get fat. ALL men I have ever known, whether they be boyfriend, husband or employer, will tell you they are the "perfect" man. And my hubby is correct. He is perfect. -
That's very true. Daughter and son in law have done that a number of times. They get anywhere from $250 to $400. They generally buy cars that are on their last leg, drive the piss out of them and then sell them at the crusher.

Nobody "needs" a Camaro. But man, they sure are nice to have. I've owned two of them, a '67 and a '75. Good luck selling it.

If he hasn't already, he will. Guarantee it. Why not? She's not going to do anything, based on his experience with the OPs daughter and neither will the school other than a suspension. Hey, he gets to sit at home, playing on his X Box and not having to do school work. Where's the punishment? Plus he got to feel a girls rear (or front). Teenage boys dream.

I'm out of pluses and minuses for the day but I agree 100% with this. I discussed this with my daughter yesterday as she went through something similar when she was in school. I did not get the school involved or the news involved. I simply gave her permission to handle it herself. She did. Not only did the kid who felt of her stop, but nobody bothered her after that either. Same thing about the neighbor girl who bullied her. Nobody did a thing to her after she handled that situation. She even said yesterday that she had seen the neighbor girl a few years ago and they were quite frie

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
Mama Carol replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So he called 911 more than 40 times in the past year. What of it? It's been reported that it was a HIGH CRIME area the reason this particular neighborhood watch person was ARMED. So what if he had called 911 400 times in the past year? Would it have mattered IN THIS INCIDENT? -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?

God I hope not. My point was that this "good kid" might not have been as angelic as he was portrayed to be. Hmmmmm, could that also mean that this "demon killer" might not be as horrible as he is being portrayed to be, too? -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?

And it doesn't matter how many people march in support of the victim, if there is no evidence of a crime, there won't be any indictment. -
That's very possible. Maybe it needs a separate, password protected forum.

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
Mama Carol replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
One MORE reason I can't wait to get there. let's not forget that in order to get a Florida carry permit you have to take a firearms course unlike Georgia where you go, pay your money to the county and 2 weeks later get your permit. I don't believe for one minute if Zimmerman wasn't in possession of the pistol legally, his ass would have been in jail. -
Well, it was lunch at our favorite local Chinese restaurant. That's about all we felt up to doing. Now, sitting in the sun room, having a beer (him) and a margarita (me) and enjoying our day.

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
Mama Carol replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We all know that defending oneself is a no-no. Interesting tidbit was on CNN a little while ago. Seems as though the kid had been suspended from school after pot was found. Nice kid, huh? Just like every other 17 year old kid. -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
Mama Carol replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Probably because he didn't appear to be under the influence of anything, witnesses backed up his statement AND he was injured. Injured to the point he needed first aid at the scene. He was later transported to the police station. I have correct the time between the dispatch and the time they pronounced Trayvon dead. It was 13 minutes, not 17 minutes. Dispatch: 1917 hours. TOD: 1930 hours. That's THIRTEEN minutes from dispatch. -
10 Lesser known effects of the health care reform
Mama Carol replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Lets see: Reform "effect" #1 of the payments to doctors has been done for several years now, even prior to the healthcare reform act. #2 is something that should not need legislation to accomplish. #3 is not a problem. But who reads that stuff really? #4 is a horrible idea and will likely lead to MORE unplanned pregnancies and more disease. #5 is not a good idea either. Sounds like something made to benefit drug companies more than consumers. #6 is not a problem. #7 is also something that should not need legislation to accomplish. Maybe if "wellness" programs
