  1. In a word, yes. The first one my hubby went to it took almost a month to get the appointment and then the doctor wanted an MRI before a real visit, i.e., anything other than a refill on the meds he was already taking. That took another two weeks. BTW, when you do make it to the pain management specialist, you will feel like you've been grilled because there will be pages and pages of paperwork to fill out. Stay strong. Know that others are thinking of you. The Salonpas patches work so-so for me. I think LR might be referring to Lidoderm. It's expensive but worth a try
  2. I didn't go to nursery or daycare. I stayed with my grandmother in her ancient house. When I say "ancient" I mean OLD. It was there during the War Between The States (that's the Civil War if you're a non-southerner). It was fascinating to me. My grandmother was fascinating as well. Prim and proper and a true southern lady. Instead of dolls or games or even other kids to play with, I explored my grandmother's house and the surrounding buildings and property. I played with my older cousins prom dresses which were stored in my grandmother's upstairs bedrooms. I read the bo
  3. True dat. I can't remember the exact plays but last season we were watching a game and even the commentators were amazed that a call had not been made. And another time when they were amazed that one had because it was exactly the same thing, just the other team.
  4. :good: :yahoo: :clapping: About damn time.
  5. Wouldn't know since I don't live in Paulding. I know about Cobb because my mom got the discount.
  6. I know for a fact that AT&T will work with you, especially if you've been a customer for a long time. I called and told them we HAD to reduce our bill or else disconnect the whole thing--phone and Internet, which is all we had. They agreed to lower our DSL cost to the then-current special for new customers. And we've had that for probably 2 years or longer now. I also lowered my phone bill when we took off the long distance (don't let them tell you that you HAVE to have a long distance carrier because you don't). Call and ask what they can do for you if you just have interne
  7. There used to be one in the empty lot next to the Dallas New Era. I haven't been to downtown Dallas in several months to know if it is still there or not.
  8. I know there are a few of us on here who have this, so here's some info. I have not watched the video as yet but it came highly recommended by a friend who has seen it.
  9. I think it stays the same but don't quote me on that. I'm going by memory of what the AT&T rep told us a couple of years ago.
  10. You must be 65 or older and have a yearly household income of under $14,000 in order to qualify.
  11. I'd like to recommend that if you use anything in the basement for the fleas that you also use something in the house for the hordes of bugs that will descend upon it. My daughter put out Sevin dust in their crawlspace last week because they were noticing some fleas (no pets in the house in about 6 years so WTH) and a lot of crawly bugs. All of them in the basement are dead but they have been invaded in the house by creepy crawlies. For the house, she has been using boric acid and it has worked great. She was out of boric acid when she put out the sevin dust but was planning to g
  12. That's who my mom used when she had a flea infestation. They were great. We've used them for almost 30 years. Love the Phillips family.
  13. We found years ago that a 50/50 mixture of sevin dust and lime works VERY well for killing fleas. Not sure how easy this would be for the basement but if it isn't a used area, it would work fine. The sevin and lime is great for outside. We had a HORRIBLE infestation of fleas--inside and outside. A bug bomb in each room inside (even the hallways and bathrooms) and the sevin/lime mixture outside got rid of them.
  14. Upon returning to work after maternity leave, I asked a co-worker how her husband was doing. She looked me and said "fine. He's divorced." Took me a minute for it to sink in. Then that VERY SAME DAY I asked the same co-worker how her best friend, who had been a co-worker, was doing. At that point she burst into tears and said "you didn't hear? She died in a car wreck on Thanksgiving". Needless to say, I was shocked and embarrassed beyond belief.
  15. I started to skip this thread. Glad I didn't.  Making a mental note to be sure to check my reusable bags BEFORE I walk into the store.
  16. No, the kid needs to be suspended or expelled. We had never heard of Ritalin back when I was in school and we had kids constantly poking and pinching at girls boobs and fannies especially if the girl happened to be well endowed. Didn't mean the kid needed medicating. Did mean he needed to have a palm sent across his face by said victim and then a stern "if you EVER touch me again, you WILL be sorry" from said victim. But nowadays that action would get the victim expelled, medicated and blacklisted while the kid doing the pinching and poking would be sent back to class to do it all aga
  17. Certainly not the case here other than the fact that our daughter had been molested. However, it seems that the hyperactivity did not start at the time the molestation began, but instead prior to it.
  18. Yep, it is. I grew up in Smyrna which is NOTHING like it used to be. And I'm not talking about 35 years ago when I was growing up, I'm talking about 2008 when my daughter lived there.
  19. Two reasons for that. #1--they sold their land to developers and moved to Alabama. Can't say I blame 'em. I know some who did, BTW. #2--they wanted to be closer to their West Cobb County friends who had ALREADY moved there when this area got unfit for habitation. Why do you think WE want to move? Climate? I mean, we have NO family in the panhandle. All our family is here. All our friends are here. But this place--southwest Cobb--is NOT what it used to be and not where we want to live out our remaining years. We, in southwest Cobb, are just a few years ahead of Paulding in that
  20. Someone is going to complain about something always. It's a fact of life.
  21. Except for the fact that Paulding's vote was separate from the one for Atlanta, I couldn't agree with you more. This was found in several sources: The top five cash donors to the campaign — the National Association of Realtors, the Georgia Highway Contractors Association, heavy equipment suppliers Yancey Brothers Co. and C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. — kicked in $981,000 among them. Cox Enterprises, owners of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and WSB-TV, and Georgia Power Co. also donated $250,000 each. WHY would a company like Yancey Brothers or C.W. Matthews contribute to a vo
  22. Bless you for your comments! You are absolutely correct. NO idea what the long term effects are but a pretty good idea what the short term effects are, especially for the drug companies.
  23. I knew early on that there was something wrong with our middle daughter. At that time--1979 or so--it wasn't called ADD, just hyperactivity and there wasn't really that much you could do for it IF you even got a diagnosis for it. She was tested but nothing was determined. I tried restricting her diet to no avail. She never misbehaved, so we didn't discipline her because she couldn't focus or sit still. That would have been counterproductive. She did learn to deal with her problem and as I said earlier, it has worked to her advantage in her adult years. That said, I truly believe that
  24. My sister works for a fairly large employer--the Department of Defense--and it took her a long, long time for her supervisor to agree to let her telecommute in spite of the fact that some of her co-workers had been doing so already. When the supervisor finally relented, she was allowed to telecommute one day a week, while some of her other co-workers were allowed to telecommute four days a week. I think finally she has been allowed to telecommute two days a week. She had seniority over the other people in the office and still didn't get as many days as they did. With her supervisor it seem
  25. Sure why not? I know several people who have them for their dogs.
