  1. We rented the first one on a Wednesday, so the rate wasn't too bad. The other one was rented on Sunday, also not too bad on the rate. But early and mid April are not high demand times for truck rentals.
  2. We got one of ours from the storage place in Powder Springs, just off 278 at Brownsville/Oglesby Road. The other we got from the Texaco in Lithia Springs. The prices are going to be pretty much the same no matter where you go. The thing you'll have to make sure about is being able to get is the size truck you need on the date you need it. We had planned to get the second truck from the same place we got the first one but they didn't have the size truck we needed available so we had to scramble to get one. We were needing it on a Sunday morning, which is a problem at most places.
  3. I thought one of the requirements for signing something like that was to have knowledge of what you were doing. Sounds like he didn't. I hope a good attorney can get this reversed for him.
  4. When we lived up there we could count on a normal bill for 9 months out of the year. Three months out of the year, usually April, July and October, we would have a higher than normal bill. We didn't water outside except the years we had a garden and rarely watered it except in the early spring. We had few outside plants, no pool, no hot tub and the only time a vehicle was washed was when my husband washed his truck. Usually when he did that, he used two buckets of water and rarely used a hose. Never figured out the rhyme or reason of their billing. Why it could be $11 for 9 months o
  5. Hubby worked for Mitch years and years ago. Said it was probably one of the most interesting jobs he had and certainly the most colorful employer he ever had.
  6. I had a total hysterectomy in 2003. I just simply don't understand the return of the hot flashes here in 2015. I'll definitely ask about the bio-identicals though.
  7. I had a total hysterectomy 11+ years ago. I've started having hot flashes again. No idea why. I absolutely burn up with it 75 degrees inside and the ceiling fan on. Happens several times a day. And for some reason these hot flashes are as bad, if not worse, than the ones I had after my hysterectomy! Really considering asking my PCP for Climara when I go see him in a month or so. This is awful. I feel for the rest of you ladies having them. I had hoped I was over them. In fact, until recently, I was over them!
  8. Seriously, if you're 35 and beginning menopause, get your iron levels checked!! Early menopause is quite commonly seen in women with iron overload. And yes, 35 is too young for menopause by about 10 years. I used a hormone replacement patch called Climara. I have to be careful about anything that can affect the liver and this patch causes the least impact on the liver of any of the hormone replacements.
  9. The girl who cuts my hair took cosmetology classes while in high school at the nearby tech school. She got her license the day after she graduated from high school. She's only 23, I think, and has been a cosmetologist for 5 years. She makes darn good money, too. Welders are in such demand here, that every tech school in the area has started more classes. And welders make fantastic money whether or not they are working for one of the big employers in the area such as Austal (who build ships), AirBus (who build airplanes) and all the others moving to the area. Electricians made excell
  10. I have a friend whose daughter has a Bachelor's degree. She works at Walgreen's as a pharmacy technician trainee. One plus is she is now just working one job as opposed to the three she has been working since graduating about 4 years ago. There are few graduates in her field but even fewer jobs. My oldest granddaughter has the same degree and can't get a job in the field either and works for an "artist" promotion company. Doing exactly what, I'm not sure but it's more reception/administration than anything else. For every 20 graduates in the field there *may* be one job opening. I reall
  11. 92 and Morningside is closer to Hiram. Ridge Road is maybe a mile or so down 92. Close but not real close.
  12. I bought a purslane hanging basket sometime before Memorial Day. A piece broke off and my husband stuck it in the ground. It grew and bloomed beautifully. So I cut some off and put it out. It, too bloomed and has grown well. So I did two flower pots of it. One of them is bigger and prettier than the original hanging basket! Not a problem if it's aggressive. We have a blank pallet of yard. Lawnmower takes care of the stuff we don't want. We had thousands of little plants that look a lot like mimosa but they aren't. When allowed to grow, they get to be about seven feet tall
  13. Good heavens!! I need to buy eggs. I'm down to three and hubby is wanting more banana pudding! May have to take out a loan to buy them though. I bought eggs about a month ago and they were almost double what they were the time I bought them prior to that, something like two weeks. Hubby said CVS had eggs and thought that a strange store to carry eggs.
  14. Yep, it's poke salad. Love, love, love poke salad. Haven't had any in about five years. Would love to find some. Doesn't seem to grow very well here in Florida. And yes, always with scrambled eggs in it!
  15. I think you're thinking of poke weed. I accidentally got into a bunch of those one time and ruined a perfectly good shirt.
  16. Prayers being said for Thad and Melissa.
  17. I would imagine the tax assessors office would be less than helpful in providing the information you want so you can do several different things. Go to realtor.com and search for recent home sales in your zip code. Print out information that shows what they sold for. You can go to the tax assessors website and put in the addresses and it will show the most recent sales for that property. This may be more accurate than what realtor.com will show (they often add other things to the price paid). Also if there is anything in the area that would detract from the value--unkempt proper
  18. My husband who hasn't smoked a cigar or cigarette in probably 15 years is looking forward to being able to enjoy a Cuban cigar. Personally, I think it's time the US people found out it's not what we have imagined all these years.
  19. I was reading an article in "Time" magazine yesterday. It said that a middle aged person in the US has a greater chance of dying of prescription drug overdose than they do from an auto accident or violence.
  20. We have some bushes out front and there is a nest in there. We looked one day and there were two eggs in it. A few days later there were four eggs in it! Then there were no eggs in it, nor were there baby birds. We do have a lot of eagles, hawks, buzzards, crows and osprey in the area so we figure a bird of prey of some kind got them. Perhaps even a rat snake, like the two we've hauled out of the yard so far this year. A couple of weeks ago I was walking into our garage when something caught my attention. We leave the back door to the garage open and the folding stairs to the attic
  21. I know this is a stretch that someone might know the answer but I need all the suggestions I can get about this. I'm one of the founders of a non-profit. The other founder incorporated on Legalzoom. I need just some of the paperwork that was generated. Not all of it and without seeing what there is, I don't know what I need. We're two time zones apart, so getting together to look over the paperwork isn't possible. I hate for him to mail me everything because he said it was a large packet of information. Does anyone know if I can see what was sent to the other founder if I go on to
  22. Not necessarily. Tax values and sale prices are not always the same. In fact, there can be substantial differences in them. I've seen tax values that were totally unrealistic. Tax values that were even unrealistic during the height of the building boom and even more so post real estate bust. Then again, I've seen some asking prices for property that was unrealistic, too. One thing that hurts Paulding is the lack of exemptions and the low amounts of those exemptions that are available. I think homestead exemption is $2000. Two thousand??? Ours is $25,000. Thank you Florida!!
  23. I don't remember what ours jumped in 2005 but it was a significant amount. It was before the remodel we did so basically it was the same house as it was in 1955. Plus someone stuck up an ugly blue industrial building which blocked the view of beautiful downtown Austell. We went to the Board of Equalization, took pictures of the view out all the windows, a signed contract for sell of the house and the cancellation of that contract giving the reason for cancellation and won the appeal. They actually reduced the tax value to less than we were asking for. We bought a farm (vacant land, n
