Apparently so. And not sure this is a stone. It may be a tumor. I'll know more in a month when I go to the oral surgeon. Hoping it's gone by that time and I don't have to go see him.

Were you a C corp?

Mine isn't under my tongue so maybe that's why it doesn't hurt. I have sour candy on my grocery list for today so maybe this will help. On the plus side, I've been reading about salivary gland tumors and since mine is movable and soft, it shouldn't be anything serious. I'm hoping it will go away before my appointment with the oral surgeon. I honestly think this happened during the dental xray.

In either case, the sales tax or the VAT is not something the business pays. They collect it from the customer and then pass it along to the appropriate governmental agency. With sales tax, the company gets to keep a small amount for their trouble. This IS reportable income to the business but the tax collected other than that is not.

It's OK. Neither the President nor the ACA have anything to do with this. No, I think the Dr Jackson I went to was an oral surgeon. It's been years (37 to be exact). He's likely no longer in practice if he's still alive.

I thought so. Just like sales tax. A company is only the temporary caretaker of sales tax. It does not come out of their profit unless it is reported as income.

That was my thought, too. I'm actually wondering if this is what I have. Hoping it's something simple to take care of.

VAT is charged to the consumer, isn't it?

That's the thing. I have no pain and no swelling. None whatsoever. And I probably should drink more fluids but I think I drink an adequate amount. I'll definitely give the sour things a try. This lump is on the side, up in the soft palate area. I have another, or maybe just a part of this one, that is near where my wisdom teeth came out. After the consult with the oral surgeon, I may see if he can recommend an ENT doc. At least that way, what I spend will go toward my deductible. Dr. Jackson, an oral surgeon in Smyrna, pulled my wisdom teeth. Same guy???

Not at all. You'd think so but I didn't even know I had this. It doesn't bleed, it isn't sore, no pain whatsoever. I think it's fairly new because I'm quite sure that they would have said something before my last surgery in September. During pre-op they did a thorough mouth exam. And I do mean thorough. He commented on the number of fillings I had and the fact that all my teeth look solid. Apparently a small number of cavities for someone my age and apparently most people my age have lousy teeth. My dentist found it last Thursday. Of course, now that I know it's there it is driv

Anyone ever had a salivary gland stone or blockage of a salivary gland. It seems that I have a blockage of some kind but the dentist isn't sure if it's a stone or something else going on. Going to an oral surgeon in a few weeks. If you had one, what did you do about it?

The main sources of information on these military installations (e.g. C. Johnson, the NATO Watch Committee, the International Network for the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases) reveal that the US operates and/or controls between 700 and 800 military bases Worldwide. The US Military has bases in 63 countries. Brand new military bases have been built since September 11, 2001 in seven countries. In total, there are 255,065 US military personnel deployed Worldwide. http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-worldwide-network-of-us-military-bases/5564

Lobbyists.

So exactly what would change if we went to a single payer system? Nada. Until you get the lobbyists out, nothing will change. Thank you for illustrating my point.
-
Given the history of how things have been done by our government, I don't have any faith in them doing a single payer system any better than they have anything else. As to the Swedes getting new treatments and new prescriptions faster than we do, they don't have to deal with the FDA. You know, another of those government agencies who do such a bang-up job.

They do have a lot of issues about their "free" insurance that we don't have with out. They state in their information regarding healthcare that a citizen would be seen by a specialist within 90 days. Hmmmm. Well, if it's something that shouldn't wait 3 months to be attended to, that could be a problem. And "urgent" needs are taken care of within three days. Not sure if they have the "consultant" system there that they do in the UK but if so, you might not be seen by the specialist you need but instead be seen by one who can see you. Having the consultants would be great if the patient w

Actually, they do pay interest if they can't get your refund to you within a certain length of time. A very small amount though. They don't start paying interest until 45 days after the tax deadline (April 15) which is May 30. I expect to get our refund before that time. Unless they lost our return.
-
It really should not take 7 years to get earnings added to your Social Security record especially when the information was sent when due and then twice more when requested. I shouldn't have to do their job for them. Neither should it take four months to process a tax return with three entries on it. The bad thing about the tax return is I can't do anything about it. If I made an error, which I'm sure I didn't, I can't correct it until it's processed. Until it's processed, I can't get my refund. I wonder if everyone who is getting money back because of the ACA has had trouble with thei

I'd be fine and dandy with higher income tax if we actually got something for our money whether it be healthcare, education, better retirement, SOMETHING. As it is, we get little for our money. We don't even get representatives who have our best interest at heart. And in Sweden the healthcare is funded by taxes even though it is a smaller portion of their overall tax base and it isn't through personal income tax. But that tax money comes from somewhere. Where? Ultimately the citizens.

The question was about taxes and nothing more. Any insinuation was your own. The question was: How much in personal income tax are your friends overseas paying? What is the sales tax an VAT? that was in post #141. My answer: I believe the one in Sweden is paying along the lines of 40 something percent in income tax. Could be higher. Not sure about the sales tax and VAT. that was in post #144. In neither one was the percentage of GDP mentioned, nor was what percentage of the income tax was going toward healthcare. The question was cut and dry.

Temporarily it would be. But soon you'd see them selling those supplemental plans and making up the difference. Wouldn't take long for a good advertising agency to come up with marketing that would send sales through the roof. The question was about the amount of tax they paid.

The one I personally knew was shot by an alleged burglar when he and his partner answered a silent alarm. He was shot three times; his partner was also shot multiple times and was unable to return to duty. My friend died on the operating table. He was 22. It was 12 days before Christmas. the *alleged" burglar was found guilty of the charges brought against him in the murder of my friend. However, the sentence was overruled and he was set free.

I'm that same mixture. Dutch, German, Irish, Scots, English and a bit of Native American. My paternal great grandmother was reportedly full blooded Cherokee. My grandmother and mother have varied that indeed the woman was full blooded Native American. I have my doubts about it being Cherokee but possibly Creek. And Pubby, I'd suggest you get screened for hemochromatosis. Maybe you and Dr. P can go together. In fact, I recommend that everyone on Pcom get screened. I know there are a few of us on here who have hemochromatosis. Based on the prevalence of the condition, I'd say about

Absolutely there are good doctors and bad doctors everywhere but in a country that is the "birthplace" of a condition, the doctors should have a better understanding of it and their health care system should have better information made available to the doctors. Both fail miserably in Ireland. The patients are confused, often left alone after diagnosis because their lab work doesn't meet the criteria for treatment until they develop permanent problems from it. NOBODY in any country in the world should have to suffer from the effects of iron overload. In fact, it is more cost effective to s

Unfortunately, I personally knew one officer listed and know the parents of another.
