  1. Take it from someone who had it twice, yes it is very possible to have it twice. Here's info from the Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/mononucleosis/AN01375 Most people who have infectious mononucleosis, or mono, get it only once. Rarely, however, mononucleosis symptoms may recur months or even years later. Much like chicken pox, one you have it, the virus continues to live in your body and CAN reactivate. If it makes you feel any better, the second bout I had was much milder than the first one. get well soon!!
  2. Yeah, we did, too. Plan on going when we sell the house up there. That will be a time to celebrate and what better place than The Fish House! Can't wait for you and Lisa to visit us. Really and truly.
  3. Bring money and we'll go to the Fish House to eat while you're here.
  4. I took General Business in high school, 1972-1973. We were taught to send thank you notes, too. We were also taught how to interview (both as the interviewer and the interviewee), how to fill out a job application, etc. Most of that was taught in Business but some was taught in the Life Skills portion of Home Ec.
  5. More than likely if a person gets an interview, it is because they contacted the company online or by e-mail. It costs NOTHING to send an e-mail thank you. I did that whenever I had an e-mail address. Sometimes the same day but never later than the next day.
  6. You mean like I said above: There is a lot that goes into the crime rates, particularly demographics and geography. For instance, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas are border states and have an average crime rate of 460. All three states have a lot of problems with illegal immigrants and the drug trade.. Perhaps we don't disagree after all.
  7. It's being polite to thank someone for doing something they didn't have to do. They didn't HAVE to interview you.
  8. I wish you could clean up my car. There's a spare bedroom for you, anytime.

  10. Could it be that Amazon doesn't add the tax until you actually place the order?
  11. Yep, we bought cars in Douglas County, which has 7% sales tax, but live in Cobb, which has 6% sales tax (and 5% when we purchased one of the cars). We paid Cobb taxes on them.
  12. Actually, none of those you mentioned--1, 3, 7 or 9--are located in the 10 most gun friendly states. The 10 most gun friendly states, in alphabetical order are: Alaska Arizona Florida Idaho Kentucky Montana New Mexico Texas Utah Wyoming Were ANY of those top 10 cities for MURDERS in one of those states? I'll answer for you, no they were not. the list came from : http://weapons.about.com/od/gunlaws/tp/top-gun-friendly-states.htm the murder information from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate#2011_data I'm not bending the fac

  14. EXCELLENT advice. I had a co-worker several years ago who got the job simply because she followed up. It was really a toss up between her and another person we interviewed as they were both equally qualified and we both liked both candidates. But when she followed up, my employer knew she was the person for the job. The job involved sales and required follow up contact with perspective clients.
  15. That's very true. Some of the states with the strictest gun laws have the highest murder rates.
  16. This from CNN: However, criminologists point to a variety of factors for the continuing decline in overall violence. They cite a more settled crack cocaine market, an increase in incarcerations, an aging population, data-driven policing, and changes in technology that include a big increase in surveillance cameras. Anyone else find it ironic that a decrease in violent crime is attributed to MORE incarcerations and a more settled crack cocaine market?
  17. Beats the crap out of the three minute interview I had a few years ago. The total time, from the time they called my name to the time I walked out the door was three minutes, not just the time we spent talking. No big surprise, they closed a few months later. There there was the three and a half hour interview. I don't do well sitting that long so I was in absolute agony by the time we finished. 100 interview questions, interrupted by phone calls, other people coming in to talk to the interviewer, him eating lunch. Not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination. The vast majorit
  18. I would think so. Most restaurants do, particularly around the cashier station.
  19. Why in heavens name would a 19 year old nursing student/server need a PUBLICIST? There used to a phrase we southerners used in regard to things like this, and it would fit pretty well, but it can no longer be used. And since SHE violated company policy by posting a photo of a receipt including the customer's information, why wasn't her ass fired?
  20. Sometimes it is the only way to get something, too. I needed a new garage door opener remote and the kid working in the garage door department at Lowe's said the manufacturer didn't make OPENERS, just doors. I got one direct from the manufacturer, identical to the one I have. Not just every hardware store carries that brand, so if Lowe's didn't have it I would have had no other choice but to get it from the manufacturer. Hard to find them but they are great, quiet openers. Think I'll take the remote with me to Lowe's and tell that idiot kid working in garage doors that the company doe
  21. Yesterday my husband "found" the recovery disks for his computer sitting by the printer. They were there because he had already tried them and they wouldn't work. He swears up and down that they were there the whole time, he never tried them and we paid $50 to get another copy for no reason. Nope. He tried them and they didn't work. I remember thinking that they would and that's why I dug through a half dozen boxes (no joke about that) and located them. But that was before the computer place removed viruses. They might have worked had we tried them again after we got the computer back.
  22. I've restored programs dozens of times and have always had to re-register them. I don't know why he thinks he doesn't have to. I was looking for another source to tell him he does. You know how men generally don't listen to their wives but if someone else says the same exact thing, they believe it.
