    I use a paper towel to turn on and off the faucet in public restrooms and for opening the door to get the hell out of there, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of washing in the first place.

That doesn't make a person an overly protective, or a negligent parent either. like you, I will not let my kids be guinea pigs for some pharmaceutical company without reading, re-reading and verifying any information about any medicine my kids "should" have.
