  1. Confused as well, but if I am assuming this law only affects new or used car purchases and the ad valorem sticks with the holder of the current title. If so folks who plan on holding on to their vehicles for many years may want to look into transferring the title your spouse or a trusted family member. Although you would take the hit of title tax and sales tax at that time, it might be more feasible over the years. NC has a similiar title tax. When I moved from GA and went to register my truck in NC they treated it as I just bought my truck and charged me title fees and fair market tax. It
  2. It's been started in Hiram City limits. I do not think it has been put out for vote on the rest of PC, ie Dallas
  3. Yes, she posted elsewhere this morning that she and family were just fine
  4. Your out by the airport?? Maybe a news copter
  5. I believe I have some from one year at the Courthouse, but also have a couple of pics from the 911 event you hosted at Fire Station #1. I'll have to find them
  6. Unless things have changed since I lived there, the city limits of Hiram are pretty much butchered up like an unfinished jigsaw puzzle. I was told this was due to the City annexing certain areas many years ago to allow beer & liquor sales. For example there is a line running down Nebo from 92 that is in the city limits and then once you get to Creekside Country Club, that is in the city limits cause they annexed to allow beer & liquor sales in the clubhouse. Look just outside of the City of Dallas limits where Hiram Station, old Dbl Vision, and the liquor store is. That area is in the
  7. I figured you might run. Good luck Don. Didn't you lose just by a few votes against Carmen years ago?
  8. I think what he was saying is, say Ingles purchases and develops their own store on a piece of property. They then charge (on the books) that particular store rent, but in all the money is still kept in the Ingles corporate world instead of paying a long term lease to a landlord as many other stores do. Think about this, Home Depot made (and still is) a very nice majority of profit on buying huge parcels of land, building their big box store on that property, and then leasing out long term parcels to restaurants, banks, etc. Profit center in my mind
  9. Is Kroger a CM? Just wondering since the name has been posted in the title all day
  10. Was this the house?? I couldn't upload the pic earlier. If so, what a shame when I lived down the road there to have a nice piece of property and house only to be vacated for soo long. I am sure it has a ton of history
  11. Was this the house? I took this during the installation and construction for the stop lights before they bulldozed the land for Ingles. I always heard remors during my time living down Nebo about the protery being in probate for many years, and it had a family gravyard on the property back towards the chicken houses. Is this where the current Grands gas station is in the older pic?
  12. Hiram City Limits is soo butchered up and confusing. For example, Home Depot is not in the city limits, but next door Sams is. Speaking with someone who works at the Ingles on Dallas Nebo....the grocery store is labeled as being Douglasville, but the Ingles conv store with the gas pumps is in Hiram. Therefore, the store can't sell beer on Sunday, but just up the parking lot they can sell it
  13. Splain that to a health inspector
  14. That goes against food safety guidelines. You should store poultry meats at the lowest level to prevent cross contamination from any drippings
  15. Toss it in the garbage and buy another one. Do not trust calling a 800 number for advice
  16. I guess all projects underway are sneaky, do we need to vote for a study of the stop lights being properly timed on hwy 278? Nope, you can ask Deep Green Solutions to splain that as to why they are not timed right
  17. Processed pork (and who knows what else) at it's finest. Those things are tasty!!!
  18. It's due to the state sales tax per gallon. The federal tax is set across the board (around .18 per gallon) for every state, but states differ in what sales tax they collect. I live in NC and the state tax is around .35/per gallon, whereas GA is 29.2 and SC is 16.8. Therefore, on my travels between NC & GA I always make a stop to fillup in SC. http://www.commonsensejunction.com/notes/gas-tax-rate.html
  19. Sad, but as they stated they are leaving the US to move to China. C-YA as most of their products were from China
  20. Just figure out the pay time period. Then, take the vacation time & enjoy
  21. Wild assumption, but depending on the employer I would guess they only pay on actual hours worked, therefore taking vacation time during the pay period voids any overtime pay. Consult with HR at the company
  22. I wouldn't imagine any liquor store in PC to opt to be open on a Sunday, but can imagine the grocery and convenience store would welcome this since they have the stock and workers on hand to sell beer & wine.
