You are right, this has been happening in the private sector for years. (Perhaps the past decade.)I'm afraid it is the new normal. Please don't act like you are entitled to what you used to have... because no one else has what they used to have either. I'm afraid the rest of us just need to welcome State workers and teachers to our world. A world where many have taken over a 50% pay cut and elimination of medical coverage … and are happy to have a job to pay our bills! The new normal is: *If you want better medical coverage you will foot the bill. *If you wa

Glad we don't have twins to sort out gift giving etiquette in our family! Your mom's way makes sense in an odd way ... but she should send it to you one year then your twin sister the next. As krwillis said: My MIL spends the same amount on everyone. If she gets a gift that is a few dollars short of the amount for that year, she writes you a check for the difference. As in $4.33 It could be a gift just under $200! VERY generous - no one needs the extra check! But to be even - she writes one. My family gets it close to $40 and calls it even... if we eve

I agree the show has enough characters they could write him out and keep the story line going. The writers have such creative stories going on ... I love Rose...she's just a mess! Mr. Sheen should have been written out the times he smacked around and held his wive at knife point.

Term limits!!!! There is no way to boot them out by not voting for them... because half the time no one runs against them...the other half of the time so few voters will be bold enough to vote for the other candidate!

Maybe it is her way of making sure you two see each other on your birthday day. The older I have become I have found older moms love to have their adult children get together, do things together. Perhaps because once we have families of our own we do not spend as much time together as our moms had dreamed of? I don't know it's sort of sweet in a demented way! Happy Birthday!

Are these statistics on living with the two biological married parents verses living with two married parents of a second or third marriage? My impression is there are far fewer children living with their original parents by the time they are in middle school, age 11 or so. I would not think the statistics of: 67% of children ages 0–17 lived with two married parents to be accurate - unless it included remarriage. If remarriage is included there is hope for society.

When I heard Lockheed might vote for a strike I thought what idiot would vote to do that in this recession? There are so many unemployed and underemployed. When a company has to pay more …they cut jobs. A recession is not a time to strike. Who would support your strike when you turn down a pay increase when so many have taken a pay cut of 20 to 50 percent or more, no longer have benefits, or have been unemployed for upwards of two years! There is a new normal… and I don’t know if unions “ get” that.

My sister in law has some terrible problems from having too many bladder infections. Something about the lining of the bladder is all messed up. It's now in spasm. She is in horrible pain. Oxycodone type pain. The doctors are trying some experimental things to help but there is nothing they can do to undo the damage. She does not want to be on drugs anymore. Her quality of life is so reduced by the pain. Don't allow a lack of doctor’s intervention to cause some other non-reversible problems when we have technology to deal with a kidney stone. But also make sure that is not the

Dear Senator Heath, This e-mail is to inform you that I am in favor of SB10 - that would permit a local referendum for Sunday package sales. I have become aware that you are one of the main obstacles to SB 10 for an up or down vote. I am hoping you will re-think this stance and advocate its passage. By advocating its passage you will join me and your other Paulding County constituents who share a true conservative, Constitutional stance on this issue. I believe local control and smaller government are solid cornerstones of our party. There is no reason our county should be de

Proposed GA Bill would get around incandescent bulb phase out

South Carolina had the same idea! SC Bill Tries To Avoid Federal Incandescent Light Bulb Phase-Out A new bill at the SC Statehouse would try to get around a federal phase-out of incandescent light bulbs and attract a manufacturer to make them in the state. <snip> Representative Loftis said “it provides for the option of an entity manufacturing these bulbs in to be sold in South Carolina”. <snip> Wilson explained, “since the bulbs would be made entirely in South Carolina and sold in South Carolina, the federal government has no power to regulate it under the In -

Do you know if a CFL breaks ... you and your pets must leave your home for 15 minutes .... AND use no ventilation during that time?... AND clean up any breakage with thick protective gloves on? ...AND that you're not supposed to throw them away in the regular trash? Before I knew about the murcury in these (Yeaaaars ago,) we had several that broke, or exploded off the base of the bulb! ...I swept it up with a broom, vaccumed the area, and threw it in the trash! <snip> take a piece of cardboard and sweep the glass shards from the CFL bulb into a dustpan, getting as much of -

It started first in other countries! Public oppositionBulk purchasing of incandescent bulbs was reported ahead of the EU lightbulb ban. Many retailers in Britain, Poland, Austria, Germany and Hungary have reported bulk purchasing,[41][42][43][44][45] and in Germany, sales rose by up to 150% in 2009 in comparison to 2008.[46] Two-thirds of Austrians surveyed stated they believe the phase-out to be "nonsensical", with 53.6% believing their health to be at risk of mercury poisoning.[47] 72% of Americans believe the government has no right to dictate which light bulb they may use.[48] The Czec -

When will people understand that! I bought them years ago and they would last such a short time it was truly not worth the money. I put them places that were a pain to put in a new bulb ....that is the reason I was so aware of it. In fact I thought I might have an electrical problem and started keeping a log of what date I replaced the bulbs in my house. I stopped buying the CFL's - they just were not what was promised on the label! I was lucky to get 4 months on ones that claimed three years! I had planned to start hoarding incandescent bulbs this year so I would not be fo -

No show why... gran·ite /ˈgrænɪt/ [gran-it] –noun 1. a coarse-grained igneous rock composed chiefly of orthoclase and albite feldspars and of quartz, usually with lesser amounts of one or more other minerals, as mica, hornblende, or augite. 2. anything compared to this rock in great hardness, firmness, or durability. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/granite For granit or granite There is no such term. This is a pronunciation problem. It is spelled “for granted”. hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/.../ WHAT%20YOU%20NEED%20TO%20KNOW%20ABOUT%20W...

I have never had allergies... but I think there is so much stuff in the air it is much like breathing dust ... your nose gets all junky inside, you sneeze then have to blow your nose. When there is all that yellow pine stuff my nose runs just like being around too much dust. I feel sorry for those with allergies … eyes swollen, runny, and such …that must suck! I hope we have more rain to wash this stuff out of the air!

I think the woman mixed up that they were to SIT in TIME OUT 1 minute for EACH YEAR of age.... NOT be beat one time for each year of age! I think DR. Dobson is the one I got that from ...and if they mouth off about it you double the time out! I spanked my kids ... but more when they were young and one swat got their attention. Glad they found her not guilty though ... the kid needs to know to listen to his mom.
