I had a really good day, thank you. I'm counting my blessings and trying to remember not to take things for granted. I came home after work and took a nap, so I'm awake for a while. Got to get up at 6 am!

I will keep your son in my thoughts and prayers. May you have the strength you need to go thru this and be strong for your child.

Speaking of fat boys of the 80's. Have you seen the commercial for AI steak sauce that says, "AI makes meat loaf sing." And Meat Loaf is singing "I would do anything for love". love it!

What do you call a man in the ocean with no arms and no legs? Bob. Yes, I find a storm named Bob amusing, also.

I normally don't like any of the "reality" stuff, but I'm watching. It's neat that it was filmed nearby...that's what initially got me interested. But I want to see how the families pull together. They keep talking about turning off the TVs and video games and spending quality time together.

A doll that lets little girls pretend to breast feed
jola replied to rdstans's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Smoochiemom, I don't think anyone is questioning how right or wrong breastfeeding is. The question is, "Is this age apropriate for a child?" I nursed both my kids, but I think this doll is inappropriate. I mean, there are a lot of things that are perfectly acceptable for adults that I don't want my 5 year old to practice. And I don't want to buy props for her to practice with. I'm sure there are a lot of little girls who pretended to nurse after watching mom breastfeed a younger sibling. But I'm not buying a nursing bra for my kid to practice breastfeeding, any more than I would buy a th -
Does anyone have any idea or explanation why it is taking so long to make a decision on the furlough days?

I'm guessing a cradle. After years of "trying", when I finally got pregnant, I sent my mom and dad a big gift bag full of baby blankets, pacifiers, and bibs, etc, that all said things like "I love my Grandma". I didn't even put a card with it....just the bag of stuff. She was very surprised!

Good luck, I hope you find something that helps. I have thyroid issues, and every once in a while it seems like my hair is falling out. It is very upsetting. What seems to happen with mine is that instead of losing a few hairs every day (normal) I'll go thru months where I don't lose much, then all of a sudden it seems like it's all falling out for a couple of months. ...almost like all of my hair is on the same cylce instead of a random cycle. It has never gotten to the point where you could tell by looking at it. Just make sure her doctor checks her hormones and thyroid levels, in case

Great suggestion! I used to go up a couple of times a year to shop for my children when they were little. But now they're into Old Navy, etc, so I should go back!

Have fun camping! We are also going this weekend....one last trip before school starts.

Yes, there is a guy on Cedarcrest Road.....coming from Crossroads intersection, he is about a mile or so on the left. Where are you camping??

I only save certain ones, that way they stack together nicely and I have lids. I keep the butter containers and the rectangular ones that sandwich meat comes in. My tip is this: use sandwich bags for leftovers you may or may not eat. If it starts turning green you can just throw the bag away and not have to smell it in the trash can or wash out the container. So instead of having all those assorted containers......I have a drawer full of every size zip lock bag they make!

I don't mind the furloughs, and I can live with the pay cut since it means keeping my job. What bothers me is that we are being told we will take 3 days "off" without pay, but the amount of work that has to be done will remain the same. So this is not time off, it's just 3 days doing the same work for no pay. A 3 day "mini vacation" as a previos poster referred to it.....yeah, that would be nice.

We had a neighbor about 15 years ago (who was a football coach in the county, by the way) who lived next door to us. We looked out to find out what the noise was about 11:30 one night, and it was him riding in circles in his yard on his riding lawn mower....lights on.....drinking beer. He was a hoot.

I agree with your opinion - Beatles, Elvis, then MJ. I will try to post one of my pictures tomorrow. Bruce Willis was on the Letterman show the same day, so he came out and sat on the camera platform while McCartney played. When the crowd recognized him, he waved to everyone. While we were there, we also saw Jimmy Fallon from Saturday Night Live interviewing people on the street at Times Square, and we went to the NBC studio - outside - where they film the Today show. We saw Al Roker, Matt Lowrey, and Gracie the Mule. My mom said she caught a glimpse of Willard Scott. Did a

My kids don't even realize how huge this was. I think the Beatles rank right up there with Elvis and MJ as far as their impact on music through out history.

We were walking in NYC Wed afternoon when we saw the crowd. We found out Paul McCartney was going to perform on top of the marquis, so we waited there to see him. How cool is that??!! We saw several other celebrities, including Bruce Willis, while we were there.

I don't get headaches often, but when I do, I can usually figure out exactly what caused it. Out of curiosity, what causes your headaches? Not only do I find this interesting (weird, I know), but maybe it will help someone else figure out reasons for their headaches. So, what causes your headache???

Is it because of breathing issues, or physical limitations? She will be as close to some of the animals driving through as she would be at the petting zoo. Your options there would be to ride the safari bus, which is a school bus with no glass in the window openings, or you could drive your own vehicle through. But if she is able to do the drive through area, I'd say it is definitely worth it. You could always make a full day of it. If you're going to drive that far, you could go to Callaway Gardens, FDR State Park, and / or FDR's Little White House. We did the Animal Safari
