  1. I guess you heard about the two 20+ pile-ups in Atlanta. I want to know how many of the 40 drivers were "from up north and KNOW how to drive in a little bit of snow"!!!!!! You're right, LPPT, it's not the snow that makes it difficult here, it's the fact that it always turns into a sheet of ICE!! Everybody stay warm and safe and enjoy spending a day at home! God says take a day off.
  2. my new hero. I'm watching him being interviewed by Barbara Walters. What a cool dude.
  3. I think anyone of age should be able to marry. But I think you should have to pass a test before you're allowed to have or adopt children!!
  4. nice picture, thanks for sharing. Sounds like a nice way to spend a day
  5. Just thinkin....PM sent. Is anyone else interested in doing something like this ?
  6. Does anyone in this area participate in Project Linus? It is an organization that provides blankets for children in need. It sounds like a great charity! I wondered if this is something my children and I might do this year during the holicay season. ....or maybe a classroom project. Anyone familiar with it? They have a lot of information on their web site about the specifics, but I only see Ga chapters in "Northwest Atlanta" and other major cities.
  7. That is so true! Who was that guy? My kids are still amazed when I tell them we didn't have a microwave until I was in college.
  8. I think people have a pretty narrow sterotypical view of what "homeless" looks like. We have students in our schools who are technically homeless. How are they "supposed to look"? Should I tell them that because their parent(s) lost their job and they have lost their house, that they need to come to school dirty and unkempt, and please go find some more ragged clothes? I haven't read the background story of the American Girl doll, so I'm not sure what she is "supposed" to look like, and I don't know how her background is portrayed. I do know that the story of another AG doll shows wha
  9. UP yours. nah, just kiddin. the movie UP - it was an animated 3D movie that came out this year with the dog that gets distracted by the squirrel, and the little boy and the old man who fly away in his house with helium baloons. Yea, I know it sounds cute and sweet and everything, but the old man's life story is a tear jerker! Basically, I cry at EVERYTHING.

    Question

I have not had my thyroid removed, but I have little to no function in it. I have taken the synthetic thyroid replacement drug for over 20 years, and I have never had any problems with it. The only time I had to adjust it was when I was pregnant. I only have to have it tested via blood tests once a year. So, I can't tell you what it's like to have the thyroid removed, but I can reassure you that living without thyroid function is relatively easy. Good luck, let us know what you decide.
  11. I totally missed Brothers and Sisters!! what happened??
  12. We had stir fried chicken tenderloins with onions, mushrooms, and homegrown banana peppers, served with rice and steamed brocolli.
  13. I knew which commercial you were gonna say before I opened the thread! Me too!! I love the look on the dad's face, and I love when the little guy says, " I was awesome!!"
  14. I watched TWC and now I feel better!! Thanks to Jeff Morrow standing out in the rain in his raincoat reporting in our area!! you rock! We may be chopped liver to some Atlanta stations, but TWC loves us here in Paulding Co.
  15. Ahh. I didn't see the weather channel. I've been watching channels 2 and 5 mostly. Thanks for posting pics...and as soon as my TV comes back on I'll check out TWC.
  16. I want a little dude in a raincoat standing out in the street showing what's going on here. (like the one in Gwinnett showing the little road block with 4 inches of water in the street for the last 2 hours.) I looked all night for information on Paulding County and they never said anything. ....well except for the one gas station that they said was in Douglasville. Meanwhile, p.com and the scanner are going crazy, rescuing people from homes and car tops. Thank goodness for p.com!! It's just so frustrating to know how much is really going on here, and I can't SEE it. Stay safe
  17. Well, since Paulding Co. School System woke me up at 5:00 with the phone call that schools were closed, I've already had my cup of coffee AND a NAP! I'm good to go for a few hours. Looking forward to a midafternoon nap later!
  18. Is it my imagination, or does it seem like we are getting NO coverage on the news about the flooding? They have people out in Gwinnett county where they've had 3 or 4 inches of rain. They've reported 6+ inches of rain here, and they've had the DOT guy say there are still some road closings on Hwy 92, and oh, by the way the schools are closed. But no live coverage!
  19. Channel 2 just showed an interview with one of the 4 boys who were on the SUV last night.
  20. Man, those must have been some HOT tennis shoes!
  21. OK, that is just weird. But you gotta love his creativity. I just wished they woulda' closed the windows.
  22. I'm too chicken to try it also. Come on...SOMEBODY has to know.....?
