  1. ok the best way to get good pine straw...(is there such a thing as good pine straw?) 1. Go find a pine tree (there are millions here in the area) 2. wrap your arms around the trunk and shake (not a job for the weak) 3. rake up fallen needles (discard all cones and limbs) 4.Repeat steps 1.-4. until you gather as much as you need (you might want to pack a lunch as this may take awhile) Hope this may be of some help... OR you could just go buy some! ....Lol sorry not being a smart azz just couldn't resist .

  6. Having lost both my parents I feel what you are going through, I also lost a son. I'm not sure I understand your question do you mean what would I change in my final days for myself? The only thing that comes to mind is communication ...Tell those near and dearest to me what they mean to me and how glad I am they are in my life. I was 17 when I lost my mom and to this day 48 years later I still would give anything to just sit and talk to her...to find out what her views are and her likes and dislikes. But I didn't think of things like that back then. With my dad and son I was much more older a
  7. I have 3 cats 2 seniors and one middle age, and I am feeding another one that the people next door left when they moved. Well late last week another little hungry mouth showed up at my door but she looked to be about to deliver anytime and judging from the size of her belly probably 4-6 babies but who knows...other then that she would have been very thin as you could feel her back bone and she ate like she wasn't going to see another meal. So we fed her for 3-4 days and ask the neighbors if it was their cat..no one claimed her. So today we had to take her to the pound...I hated to do this and
  8. ahh guess you could say Dallas is coming out of the closet....or better yet the dark ages..
  9. I think kids should do something to earn their allowance. When my kids were growing up they had chores to earn money...but in today's time ( which is a totally different world I'm not sure I would want my kids doing outside work unless it would be with a place of business....like McDonalds or Burger King ..eco ect.there are just to many evil people nowadays. But that's just my opinion.
  10. I have a beauty of a tom cat that roams the neighborhood, his family left Dodge in a hurry and left him behind....my question is does anyone know of a place that would offer assistance in getting him snipped, and vetted? I have grown quiet fond of him, but since I have pets of my own ( and they all are vetted and snipped) and I am on a retirement income would like to find a place that offers help or gives reduced rate. TYIA
  11. my hubby and I sat in the livingroom (wonder why they call it a living room? are the other rooms dead? ) oh well back to my story..we just sat there watching the big pine trees just bursting open and a yellow haze so thick you couldn't see anything....great way to pass the time during pine pollen season lol
