  1. I believe the response was to NJ saying ... ... which I believe was a suggestion of how to dispose of the minority who were looting and stealing in crimes of opportunity presented by the general unrest. pubby
  2. If some of the leaders of the Georgia GOP were involved, they'd be serving Soylent Green ... no wait ... that would imply they think kids should eat at all. ... my bad. pubby
  3. I have no problem jailing criminals but summarily shooting them is a little extreme NJ. pubby
  4. The other person hid behind a car and then another cop arrived. Who knows, maybe the cops buddy saved his life. pubby
  5. Zorro: That is what trials are for. Right now, there is no apparent opportunity for a trial because no charges have been filed. The reason for the concern of the citizens in the community is because they don't think there will be charges because the shooter was an officer. Given the intensity of the disruptions their concerns certainly shouldn't be ignored. The lack of quick information - we still don't know how many shots were fired (only that six hit the target) - and from what I gathered, the local police had not even, as a part of their investigation, interviewed neighbors.
  6. Actually zorro, that is the purpose of a trial and the presumption that there won't be one is one of the key reasons the Travon Martin incident exploded and also why people are upset in Ferguson MO. So, while I'm not condemning the guy, I feel it reasonable to ask the question. And, I think that given all the facts currently in evidence - key among them that the Brown kid hasn't shot anyone and the officer has shot and killed an unarmed person - the answer can only come from an investigation and trial. I think you assume that it was a righteous shooting. I'm saying when the victim is

  8. A better question is would Ferguson, MO. be safer if the police officer who killed an unarmed kid no longer be serving as a police officer? pubby
  9. You guys are just pissed because I call you out on your subtle slurs. You think it a joke but you're not fooling anyone.
  10. Are you sure? I hear that big butts are a racial stereotype and we surely wouldn't want to suggest that those uttering such things are sucked into that racial stereotype. I mean we know they're not racists at all; they've told us that so many, many times. Here is a QnA regarding what is and isn't required. Sometimes, at a local level, things do get mistranslated so if you run into a conflict in practice, take your facts to the principal as that is part of his/her job. Here are some facts: settingrecordstraight.pdf pubby
  11. Here is the lead from an article in the NYTimes dated Thursday that asserts that the trolls have won. Here is a link to the article: LINK You are encouraged to read the NYtimes article and answer the poll questions honestly. The poll is an anonymous poll. pubby
  12. I'm not aware of anyone contacting me. Heck, I bonused them the ad - I see it wasn't even highlighted on the hh web page - and if I was contacted, it didn't register. It really isn't a secret that we depend on others, including the leadership of groups, to actually post their own press releases. I've always felt it extra work for me to be in the middle unless someone needs help or want to use a video to do it. pubby
  13. TP: Folks need to read the story of the Boston Massacre more closely. Sure, the British soldiers were there because of the stamp act and various other laws that were being roundly ignored by the colonists but the incident of the Boston Massacre apparently began with a simple dispute - what some would call a strong-arm robbery. Apparently a British officer had gotten a haircut and according to a bystander, had walked from the barber shop without paying. When the citizens called him on the assumed abuse of his office - think a cop getting a cup of coffee and donuts at a dunkin donuts an
  14. Thought this BD greeting is some how 'Georgian' in a Walking Dead kind of way I put it behind a spoiler link to enhance the surprise. Oh, and Happy Birthday Blondie. pubby
  15. Military clashes with civilians and black people dying are older than the Republic, TP. Many consider this the first act of the Revolutionary war and it is particularly fitting that the first victim in that war was a mixed-race runaway slave named Crispus Attucks. I think it is important to note that despite the tauts and obvious misbehavior of the crowd, even the British Acting Governor went forward with an investigation that resulted in the conviction of two of the soldiers for manslaughter. Of course the punishment - a literal slap on the wrist with a hot iron, was not c

  17. I think we all understand that but if the facts are that he was shot multiple times in the back and, as per witnesses, he had his hands up and was in the process of surrendering when he was shot; since when does assaulting anyone - including a cop - carry the death penalty? The plain fact is that when cops shoot perps, they act as judge, jury and executioner. Frankly, except in true defense of their own lives which if this kid had his hands up and back to the officer is by definition not the case, as citizens in a free republic we really don't want to encourage or sanction such behaviors b
  18. While enrollment is just slightly above last year - more students are expected to arrive in the coming weeks - the boost was enough for Paulding to be ranked the 13the largest system in the state. Cole congratulated his staff and system and noted that this year will be the first in the last five in which there are no furlough days scheduled. He said teachers could look forward to a small cost of living wage increase as well. Other news includes the dumping by the system of the CRCT testing regime and its replacement with a new one. Cole said the schools had improved their ranking in some
  19. You have no imagination then. Half the blacks are male. Given the number of white cops and politicians and the law that prevents those who have a record from voting or serving on a jury, I suspect that half of the black males and an quarter of the black women have felony charges against them - not necessarily because they are felons but because it is a good way for the 'establishment' to control who votes. Then there is the daily intimidation - you know I felt intimidated when I was asked five times for my identity when I voted in Paulding - like I was going to lie about it when my name was on
  20. Please don't fall into the trap of thinking that there is logic in the decision he made. While Parkinson's might be treated effectively and Robin's heart disease probably didn't slow him down and yes, he was sober and there is no excuse for taking one's own life ... Except what is, is and it is because depression is a sickness that kills. Pretty much all we can do is feel sad. I've heard that it is a crime to commit suicide ... but I don't think any one has ever been convicted of doing it successfully. After all, what good would it do to stick a corpse in a cell. Truly, we
  21. Any one who has ever dealt with grants and other 'free money' is typically older ... because young and grant support is so rare. Oh, you apply for grants when you're young alright but expect to be older by the time they come through. pubby

  23. I'm more knowledgeable than most taxpayers on these issues and while I know little, I know that there is additional cost to what you're suggesting. If you've been following the commission over the years you'll also know that that there the taxpayers were loath to even approve the fire tax to improve the ISO rating which would trade, in essence, money sent to insurance companies for fire insurance and instead direct it to the county for fire protection. The blind conservatism here thinks that government shouldn't get any tax money for any purpose and while they won't shoot anyone that
  24. I know enough about the Paulding Fire Department to know that that Chief has out of county experience. I also know that the major judge of fire fighting capability that makes a difference is the ISO rating for the homes in the county. Third, EMTs from the FD do run on accidents and we do have a new and presumably professional EMS service in Metro Ambulance. For an update, check out the first part of the video of Tuesday meeting. Finally, I know the Chief and I know that he does have out-of-county experience. I suggest you make your case to the commission. Call the commissio
  25. Actually, what they (Media Matters) was showing that some of the personalities out there are, at their core, all about keeping us divided. When the public comes together to mourn the passing of a great talent - and Robin Williams was a great talent - they feel threatened by the social cohesion that we all feel pretty much the same sense of shock and loss at the news. Since negativity is their stock and trade and keeping us divided their goal, anything they can do to confuse, confound or foul up a moment of shared grief, happiness or contentment is fair game and their purpose. I think
