big data and AI Who will make your decisions in the coming decades?

I can appreciate your stand and recognize that my take on how to deal with the ultra-homogenization is to pitch 'go local' ... I really think that the concentration of power, money, influence into fewer and fewer hands is effectively a rehash of building the tower of babel and is destined to fail. Keep spouting off ... you know I think I've visited Huff post once in the past three months. the daily Kos, once in the past six months (by mistake) and what is this democratic underground. Actually I do know 'about' the democratic underground and I can say that I've visited -

David Brooks column in todays NYTimes has a chilling assessment of the future of AI. It starts out with the approach that we see killing local media like Pcom as 'everbody is on facebook." The statistic is that in 2001, the top ten web sites in the USA accounted for 31 percent of the page views. By 2010, the top ten websites in USA accounted for 75 percent of the page views. Brooks then goes into his appreciation of the music-serving webside 'pandora' which takes his preferred listening choices and expands them through pattern matching and predictive analysis and serves him up some additiona

Well good for Whitey for calling you on the carpet. You do know that he's a UNION guy too. What kind of tickles me, tundra, is that obviously Patti and I can carry on a conversation and even an interview ... but those who claim the 'quote' higher ground go off on alternate blogs where they talk about stilettos and criticize others for their style of dress and other silly things. I was really rather tickled with the use of long words in the headlines and, from what I hear, there is support coming from the Koch brothers. Are they the one's behind your group? I mean the funding of the

Detectives Seek Assistance in Armed Robberies in Paulding County (Paulding County, GA) The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the publics assistance in identifying the suspect(s) in the recent armed robberies of two Paulding County businesses. On Friday October 25, 2014 at approximately 7:00 am a black male subject wearing black pants, black hooded jacket, a black bandanna wrapped around his face, and white gloves entered the CVS Pharmacy on Seven Hills Boulevard at Cedarcrest Road. The suspect forced the clerk to the manager’s office in the back of the store where he ordered the ma

That's not true, dogs... Michael Bloomberg is more concerned about your second amendment rights than you are about jhb's first amendment rights. pubby -
Yeah, those folks in Ferguson are really good at estimating public reactions. Like the time they all dressed like an invading military force and brought tanks and smoke bombs to the peaceful gathering and caused a riot. The only thing that would not cause issues would be a transparent public presentation of the information. pubby

The neighbor actually sounds like one who bought for years the false notion and propaganda line that the bad guys were Democrats and the good guys were Republican and simply had their eyes opened. Opened how? Well all the noxious, nasty, ambitious people who believe they are anointed, flipped to the GOP back in the late 1990s; early 2000s and became Republicans figuring that it would help them fool some of the people all the time with the all-time best scam ever. Think about it. The Republicans are the party of less government right? So they say, elect me and I'll give you less go -
Husband of Delaware State Senator -Stealing Campaign Signs
gpatt0n replied to Mustluvdogs's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Rockysmom: The story made the news because: 1. they had video (always helps to get a story on TV) 2. The video had an identifiable person - the state senators husband - who was high profile, so to speak. I think the reason the signs in front of pcom haven't disappeared is because the folks are afraid I have a camera on them pubby PS: They maybe right -

We're dealing with google through intermediaries to get the red-page of death removed. I did take some advice above (contracted with securi.net) and they've done their security scan. Here is the report: Other than the 'extra cost services' they're providing ... they've scanned the site and found 'nothing' ... other than the 'blacklisting' ... which means of course they post that ugly red scare sign that says that I'm trying to install something on your computer to ruin your life. (Which of course, they state on the 'more info' page that there has never been malware found on -
Saw this piece on rawstory, which gives a brief, readable and coherent explanation of the role of common core educational standards. Thought it was worth sharing.

The institutions in Ferguson are what are on trial. Grand Jury's deliberate in secrecy. I can say with absolute certainty about a similar situation in Watonga Oklahoma in 1976 in which a high school senior was beaten severely by one Sgt. Taylor of the Watonga Police. There was no grand jury. What there was, was an open hearing by the city council in which witnesses were brought before the council and sworn as to the circumstances. The information regarding the incident was publicly aired and the council, like with all personnel matters, deliberated amongst themselves in closed sessio

It is obvious that I have confidence in the court system whereas you don't. Further, you think that it is a foregone conclusion that people will riot and want to prove the point by basically letting a secret grand jury decide that the officer is innocent and expect everyone to accept that finding as authoritative. Newsjunky ... Ferguson is in Missouri ... Missouri is the SHOW ME STATE ... show 'em ... and the proper venue to do that is the courts. That's all. Trust the institutions ... that you don't and instead expect order to be maintained by force of arms is a sad, sad, sad state o

Or a dutiful officer doing what he had to do (which is also what we are to believe.) All I'm saying is that a courtroom is where the conflicting stories can be transparently presented. The motives of those of either side will never be properly weighed in relation to the facts except in that venue. As far as appearances ... some time or another we need to have the opportunity to view facts devoid of opinions. That is what I would like to see from the courts. And regarding the leaks from the grand jury ... I wouldn't trust them as they are by definition violations of the

From what I gathered, the grand jury has not made its decision. As far as Republicans wanting to avoid court, my thoughts when I made the post had to do with the alleged $2 million the local republicans spent to keep Republican surepip out of court ... and TP out of court ... indeed anyone who doesn't want to spend $.5 million in litigation out of court. The tendency of folks to avoid court was my point. pubby
