  1. Still in the mix for the start up gig, BUT, I have my final rounds of interviews with another company that is a MUCH better opportunity. Stable, huge budget, 60% increase in salary, etc. But, it's still in Alpharetta. We'll make it work!
  2. OK, I'm a SUCKER for fried pickles. Grrr!`
  3. And dont eat it...we all know how good kids are at not drinking the bath water.
  4. Alright, I have to tell y'all that while I love my Paulding peeps - please know that all the food in the area is total and utter crap. If the Italian Oven and Scalini's is good dining (I'll give you that Scalini's isn't bad food), you need to try Ippalitos. There's one at the Kennesaw mall area, but the one in Roswell is better, even though the recipes are the same. It may well be the water. Good pizza? MPC, hands down, best in the area. Mellow Mushroom has decent pizza. If you like New York Italian (no, I'm not a yank - grew up in south florida though, there's no shortage), check ou
  5. Are the color hair extension glue or clip? Are you doing feathers? What if I got my own hair?
  6. If you're my age, give or take 5 years, this will make you smile. This will mean something to you And you want this shirt
  7. I have NEVER entertained positions in Alpharetta - but for no other reason than the commute. But, I can move. There's no reason NOT to entertain a move closer to Alpharetta, I've always been quite fond of the area and if I moved to the Cherokee side I'd still have low property tax AND my son would be closer to his dad which would mean that the school situation would be better. I'm sure that I could negotiate a work from home situation a couple days a week while I wait for my son's school to finish and find a house in the area. It would require long hours, as any start up usually does. I'm sure
  8. This isn't true. While things are looking up, I was unemployed for most of 2010. The husband doesn't work, so there isn't a fall back income.
  9. No, we were looking at moving to the city or over to West Cobb. And I did the Marietta>Alpharetta commute and really hated it. It's 60 miles and a solid 2 hours a day if traffic isn't working against you.
  10. Every now and then, life gives you opportunity. I have one of those, but it would mean risk and change, 2 things that I'm inherently adverse to given my previous years of single motherhood. But now - I have a husband. Here's the cliff notes - I have an opportunity to go to work for a start up and have equity in the company. The company has stable backing (secondary investor is a Fortune100), the owner has already taken another start up public, and the technology is very favored in the industry. But, it's still a start up. And, it's in Alpharetta. We were planning on moving in the summ
  11. I wish someone would steal my TV. I'm the last person in the world without a flat screen.
  12. I am, headed south...Florida isn't really a Christmas-y place.
  13. I see now. I used Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology. http://www.segynonc.com
  14. Life isn't worth living without bacon.
  15. Getting botox is ALWAYS a reason to celebrate! Cheers - to good feet and no wrinkles.
  16. Woot! Getting into the SKINNY JEANS!
  17. Funny, I had this same thing happen with this same brand of curler. I use Sally Henson now and love it. I'm a big fan of falsies. If you go to the salon, they can put on the individual lashes, but they're a PITA to maintain as you can't really "wash" them. I do all kinds of lashes myself based on the occassion - just takes a bit of practice.
  18. No idea how much we've spent. Christmas has a totally different feel this year.
  19. No one is taking that away from them. There is plenty available in the private sector for those that have "bad luck". The government and tax payers take care of these "cosmicly challenged" job seekers for 2 years, at which point that individual needs to be resourceful and find benefits from charitable organizations. Interestingly, you speak here about the here about the worsening wealth gap - how do you think this happens? This is pretty basic - the government continuing to extend social programs is like putting the economy in hospice. Long term unemployment benefits and extended soc
  20. Who you telling, sister? I was out of work for almost all of 2009!!! I was behind on my mortgage and an eye blink away from losing unemployment (before they extended it for a total of 2 years or whatever it is now). I had robbed Peter to pay Paul and took a lot of dings to the credit report due to late payments. There is no luck. There is nothing cosmic. I had to go, everyday, and network my ASS off to get a job. Did it come down to "who I knew"? You betcha - and I got to know just about everyone in the metro Atlanta area - because I didn't have a choice. Finding a job was harder work than
