  1. Dru at Three13 Spa in Woodstock.
  2. I learned that one of the characteristics that makes me the best mother I can be is being humble. Glass houses and all that.
  3. I don't condone it, but it seems like a small thing compared to some situations that people bring children into. Don't smoke, drink or do anything illegal, have the financial means to take care of your stuff. If possible, have a baby daddy that isn't an ass - or (gasp!) be married, be able to provide educational support and involvement... The list goes on and on and on. Chances are a fetus will survive a smoking mother that likes coffee (as they did so much so long ago), it's the survival of crappy mothers that breaks my heart.
  4. There is a chance for her to qualify for proton treatment not available in the UK. Problem is that she likely only has a few months to live - at best. Time is critical. I think we've secured the financial burden for them to come over and we will keep the baby, but it's just so hard to get this stuff done from another country. Add that to a very low mental state of hopelessness on their part and my control freak sets in. Hopefully, the novelty of being american will help me get the things I need directly from her UK doctor.
  5. I've been in touch with a physician at MD Anderson, Stanford and Emory. They're in a tough place right now, and I just can't relate.
  6. My sister-in-law received the unfortunate news today that she cannot have anymore treatment for her PNET/brain cancer. They will put her on a chemo tablet - but that's really just for show (welcome to socialized medicine!). I've begun the research here in the US to try and see if there is any other treatment. Your continued prayers are appreciated. Of course, if anyone has any advice on medullablastoma or PNET, please get in touch! I need all the help I can get!
  7. We went with the Accord - and it's a nice little car!
  8. I guess I just don't worry about it. Being a woman of faith and a survivor of a very violent crime, I'm confident that everything happens for a reason and very little of those "life changing" events are in our control. You can be vigilant, listen to INNARDS and be reasonably careful in life, but you can't do it at the risk of living. The cruise, for instance. The last one I was on, we did the safety drill...and I was there, albeit with a lovely buzz. On a plane? I could recite the damn safety video - short of knowing where the closest exit is to you, the rest is futile. Subway? What's
  9. We are buying a car today and we've narrowed it down to the following: 2009 Honda Accord (50K miles) 2009 Nissan Altima (50K miles) 2008 Nissan Altima (25K miles) 2008 Honda Civic hybrid (35K miles) They're all the same price. This will be a second car that we only plan to have for a year or 2. Any thoughts? I know some people say newest model year, others say lowest miles...so...tell me what you think car buffs. They're all fairly basic cars - the only real "importance" is in safety and fuel economy.
  10. The UK gallon is 4.5 liters The US gallon is 3.7 liters Why? Because when America was importing wine and spirits - 4.5 liters per barrel would be loaded on the ships and by the time is got to America, there were only 3.7 liters - thus, the difference in the measurement of gallon. Happy Friday, Y'all!
  11. These are jarheads. Trained killers and likely not the sharpest knives in the drawer. If they were, they wouldn't have filmed it - they would know that this: 1. Puts them and their colleagues at an increased risk of retaliation 2. Puts the country they're fighting for as well as the US at increased risk of retaliation 3. Could jeopardize their personal lives if they ever want to enter civilian life They definitely deserve the stupid badge...but, it never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to broadcast on the internet. If this type of goings on is news to you, then get your he
  12. After a long talk with my husband and son, I've decided to accept the offer. We're moving!
  13. This photo was posted on Facebook and I had to double take. That blue dress in the front I seriously just purchased at Victoria Secret for my wedding night (in pink). Then to pair it with fishnets? The white one isn't *much* better with the alarmingly low back and the side boobs. Is this really representative of what CHILDREN are wearing to formal dances?
  14. Ahh, the iphone. I have all of my banking, credit cards, zillow, fandango, TWC, Dominoes...ahhh, I love a smart phone! You'll never have that "it's on the tip of my tongue" moment again with instant access to the internet!
  15. The news is rather devastating. Her cancer type, medulloblastoma, is extremely rare in adults and therefore they tend not to respond to treatment options. The team met yesterday about options, but no word yet. Hopefully we will know more soon and we can start seeing if there are more options available. She likely has months, at best, but the doctors are really unsure and don't want to give a timeline until they're certain nothing else can be done. My heart breaks for her little one, how many never have even memories of his mother. Worse yet, we can't go over for 2-3 months because of
  16. it's on Piedmont in town. http://www.cottageatl.com/ It's a very, um, interesting cuisine. Like a bland Jamaican and Indian hybrid. Lots of lentils.
  17. Oh, Cottage Ethiopia is a really cool and very different cuisine! Weirdest bread ever.
  18. Indian: Cheap: Swampna Pricey: Viceroy Moroccan: Cheap: Cafe Sababa Pricey: Imperial Fez If you need the best sushi in town, head over to Miyako (we'll meet you there!)
  19. Our family got some sad news today. If you're prayerful, will you please add Sherri Barrett to your prayers? Sherri is my sister in law and the mother of our 1 year old nephew. She has been battling brain cancer for a year now and today's news was not good and she may have exhausted her medical options. We should know more in a couple of hours and we're exploring getting them over to US soil to extend treatment options, but please pray for this family and for my husband. Thank you.
  20. I don't think I really have one...though everyone says I look like Helen Hunt. Anyways, my husband definitely does - everyone always says he looks like Jude Law. Here's a side by side! He doesn't see it!
  21. Well, he did just move here from London two months ago! He's DOES work, so if you happen to know of a technology sales management or executive position, preferably in asset management or software compliance and regulation, please PM me!
