How Far Should The Rights Of Children Go When

Please. There's a hundred lawyers coming out of UGA this year ready to make a pretty penny by turning every stubbed toe in the workplace into a worker's comp claim. Allergies are not an entitlement. I'm sorry if I'm discriminating by saying that I don't want a surgeon with a seizure disorder operating on me - though, I'm sure once we socialize medicine, we won't have much choice. -
http://www.ajc.com/news/aflac-gottfried-fired-from-872364.html?cxntlid=thbz_hm I don't get people. Gibert Gottfriend hasn't done a damn thing in 20 years...but I'm sure he was living quite comfortably for his signature word, "AFLAC!!!!" Why would this dumbass post this on Twitter: "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They'll be another one floating by any minute now,'" Gottfried tweeted Saturday, according to the Associated Press.

This always leaves me scratching my head. Somehow a realist cannot be compassionate. I didn't realize that you had to chose personal responsibility OR consideration for others. Here I've been managing to balance both these last 33 years. -

For real. These look just like a Bentley. Sometimes I have to do double take. -
March 14th is "Steak and ... " Day. Google the data and "steak and" to see the details. Your man didn't forget you on Valentines Day, don't forget him today!

It does...but, I'll be honest - if I think too hard about it, rings don't make sense. Neither does marriage for that matter. The only purpose of a ring (to me) is to make everyone else jealous. And tan lines - Your man is up to no good if you don't see a tan line. If you're like me, you've been to more than a few weddings that have the dreaded "the ring represents the circle of love" (only slightly less nauseating to the "love is patient, love is kind" reading) and half of those end in divorce. I kept my wedding band with my son's father, but only cause it wasn't worth enough to sell.

I'm not answering your questions on here, but I will share a funny story. When I was in my early 20's, I was engaged. He had my ring made and it was quite complex in it's design. I broke it off and gave back the ring. Can you believe he recycled it? Yep. The girl after me is rocking my ring. And yes, I know I was the first to wear it. The jeweler was a dear friend! When I got divorced, my mom said this too! I was like, what am I going to do..."here you go son, give this to your fiance - didn't work out with your dad and I, hope you have better luck with it." Oh, and lest

Lawd. It was mostly jest. If you read the thread, and my posts, you'll see that the overarching theme is that for every yin there is a yang when it comes to marijuana use. -

I do get it. We can't keep them in a bubble. Baseball is dangerous (see the UGA student transferred to Sheperd), but I'll never keep my son from playing it. I would, however, (especially at 15), remind him that he'll be driving next year and probably have him choose between a $5,000 go cart or a car. Of course, I'm still working to make sure that I have 4 years of tuition covered, which seems like an unobtainable goal sometimes. They grow up too fast. -

I love you. For reals. I AM a parent; and my son IS a liability. He's also a tax break. If you're hypersensitive, you'll take offense to either of those labels. And if a food allergy came up during an interview, my only discrimination would be for stupidity...and I make no apologies for not wanting to hire stupid. -

The only person that cares about the ADA is the guy in HR and the lawyer. I don't care about a food allergy (though I would absolutely be considerate of it) and I would find bringing up such an allergy during a job interview to be irrelevant - unless, of course, someone was applying for a job at a peanut factory. Again, my point was to say that 95% of the world will observe your considerations (operative word here), but there's no reason to show your hand before it's necessary. I NEVER lie, but I sure as hell don't volunteer the truth. -

Yeah, I'm definitely not a member of the coddle nation. Frankly, if someone brought this up, at say an interview for instance, I'd think: 1. Wonder what else she's going to whine about? 2. Why would they share this with me? What's next, a discussion on their gout? Discrimination happens every.single.day. We all have some kind of disability. You can fly your flag of pity or you can learn how to minimize it's impacts on defining you. -

I know that this post was in jest, but you're pretty dead on. Don't know how old the child in question is, but there's some horror stories that come from my friend at Children's about these things. Interestingly, a friend broke his arm YESTERDAY on one of these. Well, shoulder injury. He's a landscaper. Needless to say, his wife wasn't too pleased at potential of a career limiting move. My son has a 4 wheeler, but I'm thankful that he hasn't caught any real bug to speak of. It's neat, though and I hope you have fun. I'm curious, what do those things cost? -

I'm not talking about accommodating a lunch option at the monthly meeting...I'm talking about Bob in accounting not giving a rat's behind about someone's peanut allergy. As I understand it, in most cases this allergy lessens over time, but I would NOT be forthcoming about it at a job interview, networking event, etc. Especially if I were a small business, someone with this type of allergy that brought it to my attention would be a big NO under most circumstances. -

It's a very kind response, indeed...but, you must understand that your child will never, ever be able to tell their employer that they have a peanut allergy and therefore there cannot be peanut butter cookies in the boxed lunch. Quite honestly, I hope that you're teaching your child not to divulge this information up front to anyone (with the exception of a plane ride). I get the sympathy thing, and the awareness, and the accommodation to some degree but ultimately - your child is a liability and she will only bring burden on herself to share this with others. -
I know. I both love and loathe my injury!

So, how about circus peanuts? Sorry, I had to try to lighten it up! I think you're doing the right thing, and thankfully you have the ability to stay home. This post really is something that has me completely divided. I can sympathize with both sides. -
I am going to an orthopedic tomorrow regarding an injury that happened a couple months ago. I actually fell, on my butt, and have some sort of injury in my butt, right where the cheek meets the leg. It's painful to sit and I cannot run. At all. Actually a brisk walk brings me pain. I was told that it was likely a deep tissue bruise or bone bruise, but that I should feel better in 4-6 weeks. It's been 8. I have no idea what's wrong, as the xrays showed nothing. My fear is that this guy is just going to refer me to physical therapy. If that's the case, what do I need to know about PT? Wh

What are circus peanuts? I don't mind the taste as much as I HATE the feeling that happens when you bite into them. Similar to styrofoam. my teeth hurt now.

Yep. Very logical. I don't know if a child would willing stab themselves - even knowing the consequences - because they can't really rationalize death. But, this would make a lot more sense to be kept in a locked drawer in the teacher's office (along with one in the nurse's station). I would think by middle school it's a moot issue. -

So here's the quandary. Peanut girl has a right to public education, because her parents pay taxes. Peanut girl loses 2.5 hours weekly of said education, and so do the students in that class. Giving parents the option to put the children in another class would likely leave Peanut girl in a very small class and it's probably not a realistic accommodation. Homeschooling depraves Peanut girl from the vital social experience of school. Tough one. Unfortunately I have to say that it's the responsibility of the other parents to find schooling away from Peanut girl. This would be much m -

It's conditional learning. Those hold true to drugs, legal or otherwise. If you learn under the influence, you will test better in the same condition. Thus test better. "Regular basis" is what? Probably your doctor, pharma, teacher...no way every day. But potentially occasionally.
