  1. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/03/17/baby-joseph-maraachli-to-get-tracheotomy-today-or-tomorrow/ Sorry, should have posted it for those that didn't know. One of the things that not coming out is what his condition is...but, he had a sister die of the same condition a few years ago. I do hope that they release that, though Canada is notoriously tight lipped about such things. I would lean a bit more on the side of the Canadian government if it turned out the parents made a decision to get pregnant again with very high odds of having another child with the same condition. 1/40 ch
  2. This story is breaking my heart. This baby has been called home by God, and his parents are not letting him go. I completely understand how they feel, and seriously question if I would be able to do it...but, it's still heartbreaking. When I saw this picture of a swollen body, basically, I just couldn't help but realize just how much the Lord wants to bring him home. I post this only so that everyone out there make their wishes known, in writing to spare your loved ones this decision making agony. My SO and I have appointed others to be involved should anything questionable arise. We both
  3. Lest we forget that Delta also led the hike in consumer costs. I don't fly them, you shouldn't either!
  4. SO had to return his under the warranty for the same thing. They musta had a bad batch. The only thing that ruffles me is that I bet our replacement is a refurb.
  5. Who deems inappropriate? I don't want to see anyone's nipples unless I'm at a beach or pool. You really don't think that it would be odd to be standing in the TSA line and have someone remove their shirt? I've never seen it...seems like erratic behavior. I get his point - he wanted to protest. Sqeeky wheel and all that. I guess I'm just one of those people that wouldn't go around poking a bear. And to think of the taxpayer money that will be wasted on this guys silly lawsuit...shame. For us - the taxpayer, not for him.
  6. Thank you. The child is now an adult. She wants to know if they reoffended but needs a name.
  7. I think what I'm looking for is a victims advocacy for offend minors
  8. No...more of finding out names of offenders to juveniles once they're adults. Everything from the offenders name to where they live
  9. I don't want to give too many details but I feel like this may be the largest audience I can find... If a person, at particular a child, was the victim of a random violent crime...is there a resource for information? Has anyone pursued the discovery of this information - particularly with the offender - that had a positive outcome?
  10. He was detained, not arrested. I think. But, he was removing his clothing. In public. Which is weird. And I'd think potentially against the law.
  11. Indeed. I completely missed the first sentence of that paragraph.
  12. Well, NC-17 never mentioned going to the establishment on behalf of the child, but going to the dept. of labor. I guess I just took that to mean that the child was terminated because they didn't want to work the hours.
  13. It took a month due a well orchestrated marketing plan. Apple wait listed the iPad to create hype. This was well observed and discussed in the market place. In addition, the first weeks had a "2 iPad per household max" which was strictly enforced by forcing consumers to purchase with a credit card as the only way to "register" their iPad. Now, what this really did is get Apple in all the blogs and on the news, increasing the hype for the iPad. The result is that they created demand for a product that they want to be in every household, like the iPod, but that was 3 times more expensive the
  14. A teen's first job is their education. If their schooling is suffering due to excessive hours at work - yeah, that's going to become my problem. My 16 year old might want to work 40 hours a week - making money. It's my job as the parent to step in and tell him that while $200/week is more than $120/week, which is what he'll be making for the rest of his life if he doesn't do well in school.
  15. I'm all for quality. For instance, I own Louis Vuitton purses because of the quality, however I only own the classics because it's unrealistic for me to spend $2500 on every purse I buy. But, what I was saying is that Apple is only catering to 15%-50% of THEIR OWN market. I'd say that most people in the world have an iPod, because they do last forever and they are reasonably affordable. Most people can afford to spend $200 at any giving time on a "toy". When that toy is $800, I think it's less likely. We'll see. My NET NET was that I do not think that a 12 month development cycle will
  16. Great. So if you own all 3, which many do, you're buying a new apple product a minimum of twice a year, roughly $1,000/year. I'm going to sound harsh with this, but you're an Apple geek. They're out there. I've met people that would stand in line to suck off Steve Jobs so long as they got a new Apple sticker for their car. These people would buy Apple products if they came out every 6 days. And Apple can continue to cater to these people, but I'd say those like you are probably only representative of 15% of the Apple market. Go to the gym, you'll see a lot more spin wheels then yo
  17. Welp - I am an iPad owner, and I will not be dropping another $1300 on a "new" iPad with an additional camera. Heck, my iPod is the old brick 80G with a spin wheel (you remember the spin wheel?!). I'd love a Touch, but I just can't seem to get myself to buy one. Does is suck that I can't Skpe (Facetime)...yep...but I don't think that there's a ton of us that can justify $1300 on the feature. Now, maybe some folks will decide to buy one because of the Skpe feature, but I don't see that being huge. I'd like to see them lower the price point so that we can start seeing some institutions
  18. http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2011/03/16/technology/tech-us-apple.html?_r=1&src=busln Apple Shares Slide After Rare Wall St Downgrade This is my commentary, separate from the above article I, for one, am ready for the Apple to burst on this company. I've never been a fan of Steve Jobs, or his empirical control-freak nature, but I would also love to see Apple get a much needed reality check. For years, they put out superior mp3 players, at quite a clip, raping the consumer only to turn around and cut the price in half with the release of a slightly slimmer version. T
  19. If the teen is voluntarily taking on the extra hours, I would say that the discussion is more with your teen (though any establishment worth their salt would never allow such things to happen). I have, however, heard of establishments that fire teens for not wanting to take on maximum hours. This is just disappointing, but speaks volumes about the company. Of course, if they fire them for not working MORE hours that allowed by the department of labor, that's criminal. I worked for PUBLIX most of my teens years, and they are AWESOME for teens!
  20. I wish I could afford the luxury of caring. As a single, working mother - my options are limited. I cannot meet the co-op at 2pm on a Wednesday for vegetables. Nope, I can't drive to Alabama to the local farmer or network to find a family willing to share a side of beef. Even if I can make the time to head over to whole foods, it's always a shock to get the bill always in excess of $200. If I was a SAHM, I'm sure that my family would eat more locally produced food - but I simply do not have the time. And the reality is that it really does seem futile to lose sleep over my food produc
  21. Yeah, Leah and Corey will find their way - but I can see Leah getting pulled into the "fame" to some degree where I think Corey would want to avoid it at all costs. Kailyn, I feel so badly for her. She was a captive - no where to go and dear GOD, Jo's mom is a manipulative bitch. You can look at Janelle's mother to see why she's the way she is. The apple doesn't fall far from that screaming tree. Chelsea...she is spoiled, but she has the best chance of going on to be a well adjusted, normal person - she just needs time. She'll eventually find some guy that will support her lifest
  22. They have one where a thug guy gives up the seat for the older lady. There's another one where a "cool girl" leaves the cool table to sit with a new kid. The one I just saw was an "alternative kid" running a purse back to a lady on a bus.
  23. Does anyone else get teary eyes at the "Foundation for a Better Life" commercials??!! EVERY.TIME.
