  1. 16 my arse! Figures the creeper would be the one that stomped the mouse!
  2. We weren't allowed much candy at home but my aunt and uncle would take us to the 7-11, on the corner of Sandtown and Jones Shaw Rd, when we spent the night. They let us get whatever and as much whatever as we wanted I always got a Marathon Bar, Zotz, Now and Later's (watermelon only)and BarBQ Fritos. Younger sister always got the powder candy with the stick, wax bottles with the liquid (she actually chewed the wax, YUCK!), Sweet Tarts and cheese puffs. We both liked Razzles so we shared a pack of those....didn't want to appear to greedy ya know LOL! Then we'd hit Gino's Pizza for dinner and
  3. I've been googling it and searching as many places as I can trying to check but keep coming up with nothing. My daughter is very concerned since she goes to school with and is friends with kids from that area. I can't believe no one on P.com knows anything with it seeming as bad as it is and involving so many....especially kids, news travels fast within their groups.
  4. Wow, that's awful. To get "that" call is a parents worst fear. Accidents are bad enough but when they involve kids its worse and on Fathers Day. I will definitely keep these kids and their parents in my thoughts and prayers today. Thanks for letting us know, keep us updated on their progress.
  5. The "all clear" Paulding Alert I got was 3 hours after the initial one. That seems like a long time to perform rescue needs, traffic control and clean up @ midnight....it must have been an awful situation for everyone. Prayers going out this morning to those injured and their families.
  6. 2 choppers it must have been really bad. I got my Paulding alert, said both lanes of 278 @ Goldmine were closed. I've got a few friends that live up that way, a little concerned. Prayers for all involved, including emergency responders. If anyone could pass on info it would be helpful.
  7. We gave DH cool accessories for his truck, a magnetic cuff that velcro's around his arm to hold smaller tools and screws/nails/etc when he's working in inconvenient places and the ALL IMPORTANT nose/ear hair trimmers!! Gave my dad new cycling/compression shorts and my FIL a huge pepper plant that's more like a tree, DH did a lot of yard/automobile work for him and 16 of his kids/grandkids are taking him to the Rome Braves game tomorrow. He's excited....he LOVES the Braves
  8. My family LOVES the breakfast buffet at Ryan's in Hiram. I don't feel bad about spending the extra $$ over other places because they eat their weight in breakfast meats!!! It has just about anything you would want, and then some, for breakfast! They have a station that will make eggs and omelets to order. Join their website and I think they'll send you a coupon.
  9. We've been sharing movies from our youth...the kids love them! Not sure what ages you're dealing with but here's our past flicks... The Never Ending Story The Dark Crystal Stand by Me...forgot about language Gremlins Rocky Horror Picture Show Flatliners Lost Boys Now and Then Hitchcock classics....Psycho and The Birds The Apostle I agree on Second Hand Lions!! I'm trying to find Drop Dead Fred. If ya know where to find it let me know!
  10. Experience - Oh yea ; Advice - SKIP IT !!! It's worth it to just pay and go when it clears out!
  11. Oh we loved it....it's an annual treat now. The seafood platter is the with my kids and the DH! I just know some people go to places more for looks than taste. :cough, cough: Pineapple Willy's, Capt Anderson's
  12. You should go to a competition! My daughters compete and you should see some of the moves, costumes and hear the lyrics to some of the songs Just as an example, one studio had 5-7 yo's dressed in 2 pieces that were WAYYY smaller than bathing suits and it was WAYYY more suggestive with their moves. The bad part is the judges perpetuate this by giving these routines the highest awards... My daughters studio is considered "conservative" but we call it age appropriate
  13. Hunts is back over the bridge in St. Andrews (the town, not the park). We had trouble to until we asked one of the police officers on the strip. Hunt's is good but don't go looking for a touristy decorated spot....it's more of "a dive" decor inside and bright school bus yellow out.

  15. Last year, when we were down there, the owners had decided not to rebuild. It wasn't cost savvy to rebuild and I don't think they had enough insurance pay out to cover it. Sad, it was such a landmark
  16. Pinto Bean Pie 1 cup unseasoned pinto beans, mashed with a little liquid 1 handful of chocolate chips (the chocolate/pnut butter ones are good too) 1 cup chopped pecans 4 eggs 3 cups white sugar 1 tbsp vanilla 2 sticks melted margarine 3 unbaked 9" pie shells Mix all ingredients together and pour into pie shells. Bake for 1 hour in a 300 deg. oven. Makes three thin 9" pies. I never said this was healthy, just another way of raising protein and fiber amounts in my kids At least it omits the karo syrup traditionally used in pecan pies.
  17. Oh yea, the pinto bean pie was something my mom used to make for church functions. I added the chocolate chips cause hubby loves chocolate and I can regulate how much he gets with the pie! PLUS, it's added fiber and protein that my kids have NO IDEA they are getting It taste like pecan pie. The cauliflower tastes like roasted potatoes but without the carbs....the kids LOVE them! I double this recipe because there is a great deal of shrinkage when it cooks. I don't double the sugar though and omit the cinnamon, not a fan. Since I double it, it takes 2 pans to cook it all. * 1 h
  18. Chicken cutlets with tomatillo salsa - panko coated, fried with butter flavored spray Spicy roasted cauliflower Grilled marinated yellow squash, green tomatoes (from our garden) and onions. Chocolate chip/pinto bean pie served with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream for dessert I've lost 51 pounds and have gained a whole new way of cooking/eating that taste just as good if not better! Trying to start good habits and recipes with my kids now so they will not ever have a weight or food related health issue IF there is any leftover cauliflower, it's good chopped and added to meat and che
  19. I have a dear friend that has had iron issues since she was a little child. She goes to the hospital 2-3 times a year to get iron infusions. She eats ice constantly...it's called pagophagia. Her doctor says that iron deficient people usually eat ice for the numbing effect on their painful tongues and gums plus they take in needed fluids without feeling bloated. On the other hand, I have a relative that has eaten ice since she was a kid. She has been recently diagnosed anemic and the doctor said that ice can cause the anemia. Ice cools stomach acids, slowing down their process of breaking down
  20. It is kinda like one in that you can take it out and put it back in. Most people have anywhere from 8-18 made over the course of treatment. We've been down the traditional road with the oldest DD but that was 11 years ago. Better and newer practices are in place, I would think. Trying to sort out what others have used and would use again. OMG...she gripped about her retainer ALL OF THE TIME! However, she was very diligent/responsible and used it like she was supposed to.
  21. That fact both attracted me and turned me off about using them. DD's pretty good about things like that but then again how easy would it be to just not do it while at a sleepover, etc... Plus I wasn't sure if it caused a lisp which would be embarrassing and cause her to remove it in certain situations. Then again, it would be easier to retard cavities under the braces, easier to keep clean, no food restrictions, etc... I'm so confused
  22. I need input on the invisalign braces vs. traditional braces. Cost, effectiveness, satisfaction, insurance difficulties, etc... Middle DD is to get braces before school starts. I'm not sure which is best for our wallet and her teeth. She doesn't need any pulled, no special apparatus with a key, nothing extra. Just close the gap btwn the 2 front teeth and pull them inward ever so slightly, lower teeth are fine. I have insurance that allows for a one time payment of $1500 and no more. We only get one shot at this!
