Moving someone from a chair to a bed? Picking someone off the floor? Truning off a furance? Finding someones meds? Check someone BP? repeat callers who are lonley? A lot of time people do not hire caregivers but instead depend on our tax dollars to do it for them. This could be at the cost of lives as well as money.

As a first responder have you ever thought of the lives that could have been saved or changed "if only" the closest unit had not been tied up with these calls? If a child life is endanger then by all means call..but if not take your wallet out and call a lock smith.

What about all the calls that people make and the cost we as tax payers have to pay? I listen to the scanner and I have been shocked at all the BS calls they have to go on. Each of these calls does cost us and they also tie up both the Police and Clark so that could delay them from getting to a real call. Things like: left the child in the car and the doors are locked. can not find their Meds. need help to get from chair to bed need someone to come turn the furance off that is making "strange" sounds cut finger( did not need to go to hospital) the list goes on a

I think so many awards shows just like so many football Bowl games have taken away the meaning of the awards and bowls. Nothing special about them anymore.

Not only can the Government can dictate payment but they also can come back 3 years later( I think it is 3) and deny the payment and make the provider return the money. My sister has a home health care business and I can tell you that what is going on now has them very upset not just for themselves and the trouble it is going to cause them but also for the people they care for. She has said there will be a lot less care they will be able to give people.

I did not turn the scanner on til they were already fighting this fire so I did not hear where it was. I do know that seveal trucks were at a fire and they had to use a tanker ( I think more than one because I heard them say one was out and they were still working on the fire) If it was a dumpster it was way hard to put out.

Sometimes there is extra from a job that has already been paid for and this is just a way to get rid of the extra and make a little something. I have seen it happen with other products.

OK so back to my question of the Officer who has no kids and only uses his/her car for offical business...Do they get paid more to make up for the difference? I mean dang $6000( just using the figure fron above) less a year would not be fair at all to someone who already does not make sheeze.

I do see the difference and I also see the cost is the same. To me it is something I wonder about but not something that in any way pisses me off.

Vegas is about 1950 miles from here. Now if we are just talking about driving then an extra 10.6 miles a day on a LEO car would not only get you to Vegas but also get you home again. Only an extra 5.3 miles a day would get you to Vegas.... It does add up. So does an Officer who does not have kids or only uses the car for offical business get paid more to make up for the difference?

Really? I guess you need to know just how far it is to school every day, store, other little trips and then add that mileage up to see just how far they could have gone on one really good trip using the county or state car. See it is not rational and does not make sense to be so short sighted that you do not look at the whole picture but only a very small part of it. If over a years time they could have gone to Vegas would it then not be OK?

I think you really need to ask this question to people you know really well and you can see and judge for yourself the finished job. Everyone has a different standard for what they think is a good finished job.

I think one thing should be dealt with at a time rather than saying it is Ok because there is something worse out there. Everytime I hear something like that it really wants to make me look into things more to see just what is being hidden by all the smoke screens being thrown up.

Why is it that anytime anyone has a question or even a complaint about the LEO everyone wants to jump and and say how much they them? This has nothing to do with if you love them or not or even if they are doing a great, wonderful job that most would not want to do. I can and do have the greatest respect for the job they do but there are still question I would like answers to. There are many jobs I respect and admire but just for that reason alone I do not turn a blind eye to everything they do.
