  1. Good info Glen. Thanks for fixing my pressure washer. Runs like a champ. Just washed the driveway and ran it for 3 hours with no probelms except now my back hurts.
  2. I have noticed some batters using bats labeled tee ball which is prohibited by Dizzy Dean rules. The umpire would not do anything about it saying " the baseball directors team uses the tee ball bats so why should I call this player out in this game?" But if my child was to try and use a composite bat, I bet he would immediately be told to change it or be called out. They should enforce the rules evenly across the board.
  3. I was there watching the War Eagles vs the Red Sox. I did not notice anything like that going on in our game. War Eagles are going to be hard to beat!
  4. I went through it this morning and did not stop at the yellow light because the law says to use caution at a yellow. The people that treat it as a four way stop are creating more confusion and more prone to cause an accident. That being said, I proposed to our state legislator a few years ago for them to pass a law to make in manadatory that when the lights go into flashing mode because of a malfunction of some type, the lights should flash red in all directions. That way there is no confusion whatsoever, its a four way stop. He ignored my suggestion.
  5. it was the shop area behind the baseball place. The smoke was from the large amount of screen and netting they have there to build batting cages with. They had been cuttting pipe earlier and it started the netting and stuff on fire from the sparks.
  6. larry at Pure Power on Macland Road at Cobb County line. Parkers in Dallas New place on Macland just west of 92. Cant think of the name.
  7. I knew Josh when he was a kid, I used to fight fires with his Dad Eric. This is sad news, I remember seeing his post on facebook of the beautiful sunrise picture just this Saturday morning. Anyone have any info on the funeral arrangements? I pray that God will give peace to Eric and Lanett and Josh's wife.
  8. If it ain't dirty and it don't stink I will hang it up and wear it again. Except for drawers and undershirt and socks, only once unless it was for a very short time. I use towels multiple times, heck you supposed to be clean after the shower anyway.
  9. Either term will work, most southern fire departments just use Engine and up north it is a pumper. I am glad you like our engines, I am proud of them too. My job is to write the specs and buy them so I kinda feel like they are my "baby" so to speak. They are big bucks but we found that the commerical chassis engines don't hold up to running like we do in Cobb. Last Pierce I took delivery of in September cost $464,000.00 dollars with no equipment on it. 100 foot ladder trucks are around 800,000 to over a million each.
  10. Sorry that the man lost his house, but its not the Fire Depts fault. That man made a choice not to pay the $ 75 fee. Plain and simple. At some point there has to be consequences for a bad decision. If I had to bet, this guy probably did not have any smoke alarms or a fire extinguisher in his house either. Hopefully he had insurance. From the story it looks like the house was not saveable anyway.
  11. I have three boys. The oldest is 16 and is 5'10 225 lbs. Then the 13 year old is 5'8" and 180 lbs and the six year old is 4'3" and weighs 82 lbs. I took them to waffle house last week and between them they ate five waffles and five orders of hash browns.
  12. We will be praying for her and Daryl. My son Craig played on the Cougars with Austin for many years.
  13. I used to love the seafood tequitos from Casa Gallarda (?) on Spring Road in Smyrna. I miss that place, they tore it down and replaced it with a Applebees I think.
  14. No swimming at Lost Mountain but I bet you could wade in the edge with no problem.
  15. Lost Mountain Park has a lake on the back side across the road from the tennis courts. We took our Lab there alot.
  16. Sorry to hear this. Mrs. Evelyn was a very sweet lady. I did not realize she was the same age as my father minus a month. Stef, I will be praying for ya'll. I will try to come by funeral home this evening.
  17. We decided to try this place last night after reading the good reviews, BIG mistake. I had the absolute worst turkey and dressing ever. THe dressing was a dry, tasteless pile of sawdust and the gravy was a gray, lumpy tasteless goo. The broccoli casserole did not taste like broccoli but of sharp cheddar and was overcooked and dry. Mushy broccoli is nasty. I did not care for the mac n cheese. I guess it has cracker meal throughout which overwhelmed any cheese flavor and it gave a grainy texture. The service was very good from Pam, but after relating our problems to her I would have figur
  18. Ours is on the recall list. We elected to have the repair done instead of the rebate,as no way will I buy another Maytag anything. This one has been repaired about six times in three years. Luckily we bought an extended warranty which we usually never do because we had so many problems the first year we had it, we saw it was going to be a problem machine.
  19. We use Dr. Caceres is Powder Springs and he and his staff are great. They offer free bleaching with your cleaning and they do a good job. His website is http://www.brightandhealthysmiles.com/.
  20. We have a 18 x 36 gunite under construction right now. One thing to consider is gunite takes longer to complete the job compared to vinyl. Price is alot more but we had a lot of design things we wanted such as raised beam with water falls and rock coping etc. that was harder to do with vinyl. Browns is doing ours. I got quotes from them, shearer, aquarama and cds. Browns was by far the least expensive for what we are getting. We have a black lab so we were scared of the vinyl because she will be swimming a lot.
  21. Does anyone have an idea how to get medical records from the now closed Dr. Wehunt? My mom did not get hers back in February when I told her he was closing.
  22. I have lived here for 43 years and grew up on oak street. I dont remember the sign ever NOT being there. I will ask my mom, she may remember. Obviously it was not there when it still was Hiram High School.
  23. She gave me a paddling one time for "shocking" other kids by rubbing my shoes on the carpet. When I was in elementary school I loved to read and she was a great encouragement to me. Sorry to hear of her passing. The passing of the people who were my mentors and teachers of my childhood is a grim reminder that I am getting old myself.
