I am watching the Georgia government having a press conference making excuses. The media will not let up. They knew early Tuesday morning that we would see frozen precipitation. They did not deploy salt trucks because they did not want to spend the money. The Governor just said that. I will not give them a pass on this, they did the same in 2011. One city official blatantly lied about not knowing it was coming by 10am. They don't deserve any slack on this. They are afraid or don't want to spend the money. We need to ask exactly what they are spending that money on. I am really angry, onc

Paulding County Sheriff *Alert* If your vehicle is stranded on a roadway in Paulding County please DO NOT try to come and remove it. People that attempt to move their vehicles are doing more harm than good. Temperatures are not expected to get above freezing today. Most roadways are slick and still impassable. Your vehicle WILL NOT be towed. Please stay off of the roadways.

I shared this on my FB and ask that everyone share it. This message needs to be sent to the officials of the city of Atlanta for endangering the lives of millions every time this happens.

My son is going to walk up to the DG in a minute. He is going to report the road condition back to me. When he does I will update what he sees when I get the info. I can usually hear road traffic from 61 and Dabbs from my back porch. Not much if any right now.

They need to be brought up on federal charges for never doing it. It is done all over the country, but never in Atlanta. Could it be a pay day for area hotels? Maybe wreckers and body shops too! Who knows but I am fed up with the incompetence! Not because of the inconvenience, but because of the danger to people.

Let me tell you how I really feel. This happens over and over in the Atlanta Metro and there is zero excuse for it. I was at my dad's in Memphis after Christmas. Their metro area gets no more snow and ice than ours. They had predicted the possibility of sleet and snow. We went out to grocery shop well ahead of time. Guess what we saw on the roads, they had already been coated with salt and other chemicals. If Atlanta ever did this the heavy traffic would prevent what happens every time it snows here. I have said over and over the feds need to come down on them hard. Thy get federal -

I am going to bow out of the discussion and keep my little high over how generous and giving the people of our community were during an emergency. This needs to go into the political forum. The bottom line it is a vent about our president. -

No sir we are trying to create the best country in the world with the best standard of living and we have come close. Our glass is more than 1/2 full and yet we nit pick and criticize. -
Hopefully this thread will help get someone home. And it will not be used for people venturing out if they don't have an emergency!!

I was thinking the same thing!

I am proud to say that I have never been stuck in the snow. I drive well in it. I have been known to get behind the wheel and get others out. I decided to go to the the GD at the top of my subdivision for some things. I had a hard time getting out of my steep driveway. I simply backed around, down shifted to first and made it out. there was a little slipping, no problem. Until the last hill I lost momentum. No big deal, just back down and start again. Nope went sideways and was in danger of hitting a parked car. I had some reusable grocery bags, rocked the car on them and got straightened -
I saw the same and the radar at 8 am showed it moving in. Guess what parents that pay the big bucks for winter break vacations pitch the hissy fits from hell if they have to make up days during winter break.

I had to tell a handful of teens to please get out of the road that I had no control over my 2 ton vehicle. Kids raised in the south are clueless about the danger of this type of weather. Parents have a good opportunity to teach their kids about the dangers of snow, ice, and extremely cold temps. I can promise you that beyond a doubt some teens drove themselves to school today wearing shorts, hoodies and sneakers.

I have been shoveling and sweeping our steps all day. Just got finished with it again. I am sure I have seen this type of snow at some other time over the years maybe when I was a kid. It is so wet and the temps so low that when you compress it with weight it turns to a sheet of ice on the bottom of your shoes and the surface you are standing on. It is going to be a nightmare tomorrow.

My husband has been trying to get home for 4 hours. He has not been stuck even once. There are so many accidents he can't go over few miles until he is stopped dead by accidents he is finally getting closer. I know he is ok but it still stresses me out with him not home and safe. I would be even more upset if it was one of my kids. My heart goes out to those parents who's kids are on a bus in this or staying at the school.

I have someone I dearly love on the BOE and a few others I consider friends. All they had to do was look at the radar. By 8am it was eminent that it was going farther north. I know that they are all are worried about the kids and deeply regret the decision. We simply need to pray. They are beating themselves up at this moment not because of losing their positions but because they are truly concerned that any child would be in danger,

I got stuck on the hill to DG, the bus let HS kids off the bus. I was sideways holding the brake, I had to tell the kids to get out of the street because we could not control our vehicles. It scared the you know what out of me.

Remember to down shift!

It is time to pray folks. My husband has been trying to get home for 3 hours. Wrecks everywhere. He went because my daughter needs her shots for blood clots today. We have wrecks all over the county along with school buses stuck with children on them. This is as bad as I have ever seen the roads. Please pray! I know that many people and their children did not dress themselves or their kids for this weather. This is serious business at this point. I am disappointed that the schools stayed open. I can only pray that things are done better from here. The priority should be the buses and the

Reports are coming in of problems with slick roads from all over. Please be very careful and call or text anyone that is on the roads now and let them know.

Getting white fast!

Son just came from Dallas says it is still blowing on the HWY. The secondary rds might pack fast because of so little traffic. Don't take chances shift into a lower gear when you get off of the main roads.

I hope they get the kids home fast.

The bubble finally burst over Burnt Hickory and it is quickly turning white as the flakes are getting bigger!
