  1. Thanks "B"! HH...it will take awhile for me to get everything back to normal. I still have a ton of construction work that has to be done.
  2. Exactly 1 week to the day that I filed my claim with FEMA....... I got my first check. This was only for the 'clean-up' stuff that I had to buy...... wet-vac, dehumidifier, fans, cleaners..... It didn't cover everything that I spent....but I'm thankful for just the help with some of it!!! Another FEMA inspector is scheduled to come out tomorrow afternoon to look at all the damages and give an estimate and where to go from here.
  3. The part that is at the Anneewakee Creek Bridge. It's the one that goes through to Palmetto and Fairburn area...Near Charlie's Store You can still go all the way down 92/166 until it hits Camp Creek Pkwy. edit to correct typos
  4. we always go to Cedartown! No lines........in and out! Straight up 278...make a U-turn at Hwy 27 and it will be on the right!
  5. We have alot of new members.... maybe they don't know what a poll troll is... and they might not have thought to look at the dates.
  6. As someone who has to take injections of Lovenox (blood thinner) and take Coumadin (the pill format of blood thinners ) If you start looking at all the side effects of those meds... They are horrible.... but they also keep me alive and not having blood clots that could kill me. There are side effects to ALL meds. You just have to do what you feel is right for your own child and hope and pray that one day when she is older that she never has any type of HPV virus that could have been prevented by getting Guardisil. Cervical Cancer is a killer. Most Cervical cancer can't be treated and cu

  8. I understand............ there are others that could have done the work that are already here and qualified...They didn't need to bring them from Puerto Rico... But he was very thorough and very respectful He did tell me that I will/should qualify for some type of help. I should get a notice in 3-7 days telling me what. He didn't say anything about a package to go through or anything.
  9. David......the company I work for also has a REM service. They are called all over the US to work. We did alot of work at Mississippi and Louisiana for Katrina.....and in North Carolina for the ice storms. I understand what you are saying about people around here needing work...but trust me there is alot of training that you have to go through just to qualify to be able to go out into the field. There is over 3+ hrs of online training. I use my basement as a den, 3rd bathroom, 2nd laundry room, and a 4th bedroom. I also have another kitchen down there.
  10. NC.......did they go through every room in your house too. Upstairs and downstairs and even on the outside.
  11. I want to say I called on Thursday the 25th. The guy (contract company) who did mine is out of Puerto Rico. When his number came up I questioned him about why he was from Puerto Rico...and that's when he informed me that he works for this contract company. The company I work for also does this type of work. I am actually qualified to do FEMA work in devistated areas.
  12. I am to some degree. I also am having my insurance company out to replace my roof and eaves of my house. It's going to cost me around 10k to fix my basement.
  13. FEMA came out today and I should know in 3-7 days as to what assistance I will qualify for.
  14. I can say that if you liked Dr. Davis............then use Dr. Francis. I really like her. She has helped me in so many ways. When you don't have kids and have the 'health' problems that I have... she has worked wonders for me. She will be doing my surgeries coming up. (just as soon as I get the final clearance from my cardiologist)
  15. Lots of people have been left homelesss in the last couple of years due to foreclosures. If you think it's a problem...call the S.O. to do a welfare check...or better yet... go ask for yourself. If they are...take them some food...do what you can to help out. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help...
  16. I know a lot of people the area has used Dr. Davis or was delivered by Dr. Davis. He was a doctor in this area for over 40+ years. Dr. William Davis OB/GYN passed away on Sunday evening. I don't know all the details but I am a patient of Dr. Davis' until 2005 and I now use Dr. Francis. He retired from South Cobb OB/GYN in 2006. I'm not certain of any times for the funeral or viewing. I did call South Cobb OB/GYN today to confirm this.
  17. I understand NC! That is exactly what we have been doing! I'm having to stack stuff up for the insurance adjuster to come and see. Hopefully they will pay since my roof has been leaking. I guess just proving that it came from the roof will be a miracle. I have already spent over $300 just on another dehumidifier, cleaning supplies, trash bags, shovels, a new shop-vac (burned up the other one) NC have you filed for FEMA? I did that on Friday Morning
  18. was this a Miele? Those are the only dishwashers that I can think of that cost that much... yeah... google Miele appliances........
  19. 1Novella...... prayers for your family. I didn't lose my home... but I completely understand what your parents are going through. I use to live in the in Austell... (Before I bought my house) I lived right in that quadrant of Maxham and Bankhead... and never flooded there...but the house I use to live in...has about 5' of water in the house. My basement had over a foot of water in it! To some..it might be a little water...but to those that are effected.... it's like your own personal hurricane. They are not the ones who are ripping out sheetrock, trying to find photos, ripping up carp
  20. I know Fatback's has been open...... Bottle water.... Canned/Bottled drinks. They have been using jugs of water to make Tea. If you boil the water........YOU can use it to wash your dishes!
  21. Heigh ho Silver would be correct if he just left the car at a friends house.....but since it's at his WIFE'S house....it's community property. He can get his clothes and some other personal items...but the big ticket items... If he didn't get it when he left... he can't keep coming back now and taking stuff...car...tv...stereo....
