The only place I've ever had a hold placed on my CC was at QuikTrip at 120/278 when I used my debit card at the tank as debit and not credit. They placed a hold on it for $50 over my purchase. It did take several days to clear and release my funds. I called my bank bc when I looked at my account online as it appeared I had been charged the full amount. I let them know I had not purchased that amount and they explained the hold. They also explained if I had not had the additional $50 funds in my account, the purchase would have been declined. They are open to the public now. "Soft Opening" just means they aren't doing advertising yet and letting the business gradually come in to give the staff time to "practice" so to speak. At lunch time some of the waitresses were at the road waving, holding a "now open" sign. A friend of DS's works there and had told us about it and their varied menu (plus she knows how we love home cooked veggies) but we had forgotten when she said they opened. We saw the girls earlier so we went tonight and there were several tables of customers but they are expecting to be VERY busy this week-end. GOOD!

nowens98, I definitely understand your concern for the safety of this child as you should be under the circumstances. Starr & Dru's Nana has given some excellent advice. Yes, you can make an anonymous report to DFCS or to 911 regarding the child being in immediate and imminent danger. When the child is in danger, PLEASE call 911 and once the officer arrives and sees the situation he will call in DFCS. Even if you give your name it is protected by law and neither agency can tell your neighbor who made the report. (The neighbor might think they know it was you and even tell you the case work

There is a new restaurant in town that is REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!! If you like West Cobb Diner, you will LOVE J-Rod's Diner that is located where Fat Back's used to be. They had 15 veggies listed on the chalkboard and the mac & cheese was beyond WONDERFUL!!!! They even have the Fried Chicken Breast with Green Tomato Chutney!!! Legally you are right. I have been behind people whose credit card said "See ID" where the signature should be and the store refused to accept the card.

I've never given it any thought when a cashier ask for my ID. I see it as being for my protection and my experience has been more and more stores are doing this even when a debit card is used and run as credit.

Yes I have been following the story since it was first reported and it is VERY strange. I find it odd that NO ONE saw him walking away from the school and I think IF a stranger or someone he wasn't comfortable with had abducted him there would have been some type of commotion to draw attention. Yes, a couple of DS friends came over and all the pots were scraped clean. The strawberry cake was a huge hit, too. I LOVE it when he and his friends are here and eat. The Poppy Seed Chicken is really very simple and GOOOOOOD! Just boil some chicken and tear into pieces in bottom of casserole dish. In a separate bowl mix 1 can each: cream of chicken & cream of mushroom soup with 4 oz sour cream. Add about 2 tsp poppy seeds and pour over the chicken. Cover with grated sharp cheese and top with crushed ritz crackers and melted butter. Sprinkle more poppy seeds. Bake at 350 until bubbly

I didn't see a thread so thought I'd start one. DS put in a request for Poppy Seed Chicken. SOOOOO......with it we are having rice, green beans cooked all day, fried fresh veggie medley w/squash, green tomatoes, okra and onion, rolls. Paula Deen's Strawberry Cake just came outta the oven and will top it with Cream Cheese Strawberry Icing.
