We usually stay South of Myrtle Beach in Surfside and have several favorite places to eat but this year we are staying "North of" Myrtle Beach. (Not to be confused with North Myrtle Beach - but I am interested in recommendations for there, too.) Can anyone recommend some really good places to eat on that end that I don't have to auction off my first born to pay the bill???? TIA

Pigeon Forge: Mel's Diner - huge variety with a daily Blue Plate Special. Very reasonable and you can eat there numerous times and not get tired of it bc of the variety. They have the largest banana splits I've ever seen. (It sits one block off the main drive.) It's about time!!! I heard her mother screaming foul saying Lindsay got a harsh sentence bc of her celebrity status. BULL......she hasn't already been in jail bc of her celebrity status. I've known people who were on probation and when they violated it they were put in jail IMMEDIATELY and stayed there until a probation hearing was held - 3 weeks away!!! She has violated her probation over and over again and has never taken her sentences, the Judge or the Law seriously. It is being reported she will serve only 10-15 days because of jail overcrowding. They occasionally have them at Marshall's - all the Marshall's including Hiram. Bass Pro Shop in Discover Mills used to carry a really good selection but the last time we went a couple of months ago they didn't have but a few styles. DH wears an 11 4E - and New Balance is the ONLY brand that is wide enough.

Great Explaination. And, even IF they had the info the family moved back to El Paso it is possible there was no exact address to follow up with. Not to mention the caseworkers have their own overcrowded caseload to deal with. Don't get me wrong, I am not making excuses but can understand why El Paso did not follow up. It is TERRIBLY SAD - and yes the system failed her. The system is broken.

I know someone who was actually given the option of additional time OR making restitution payments. He chose the latter and did make the payments to his probation officer each month when he met with him. He stayed on probation until the full amount of restitution was paid. If he missed a monthly payment and/or meeting with his probation officer he would have to return to jail and serve the full sentence. This was in DeKalb County, tho. ME TOO, ME TOO, ME TOO????

Restitution is typically part of the conditions to be released from jail and could have a bearing on the length of her sentence. I would be surprised even if she served 4 yrs that she didn't have to pay it - or at least a percentage of it - back to her former employer. I feel so bad your family is having to deal with this - you and your family will be in my prayers! That is the problem - they ARE NOT THINKING!!! I saw on FB last night that he had passed. I do not know him but his family, loved ones and friends are in my prayers. SO SAD to lose someone so young!

DH and I ate there again last night. I got the fried chicken breast with green tomato chutney. YUMMMMMMM!!!!! I also had mac & cheese and blue cheese cole slaw. They weren't as good as usual but still good - not complaining. DH got a cheeseburger which he said was the BEST in town. (He LOVES burgers!!) I had a bite and I have to agree. It was a THICK homemade patty. He had fries and jalapeno cole slaw. We enjoyed our meal and WILL go back again and again.

A friend got married on the beach in Destin and their reception was in Ft. Walton Saturday and both were absolutely BEATUIFUL with NO oil or tar balls.
