  1. It's kind of like that Caribbean restaurant down the street from there in the same shopping center as the cycle place. Is that place still open? I don't think I ever saw anyone (literally) in it whenever I drove by.
  2. Just a note to remind folks that the wine/beer thing is tomorrow. Don't know if I'm going or not but it sounds interesting. If anything get pizza at the place 'cause it's great NYC style pizza (the owner is from NY). It's in the small shopping center that's in front of the Powder Springs home depot, next to Autozone, near the corner of Richard Sailor's Parkway and New Macland Road. Take pics if you go and I'm not there - I wanna see who shows up for these kinds of things, and if anyone winds up naked on a table by the end of it. LOL
  3. Well, don't get too excited. I don't think they're going to have nude dancers, wet t-shirts, or anything - though maybe pizza. LOL
  4. On that topic, does anyone know of any kind of good "wine 101" site for those who want to learn about it but without getting drunk trying out tons of the stuff?
  5. I dunno.... call me crazy, but I think dust is less of a problem than 12 feet of water in your house. lol
  6. http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?sh...40&start=40 Ok, I see it now. Geez, it didn't even show up on my list of topics in my profile. I thought I was being punished for being helpful. LOL
  7. Um.... I didn't think warning people about an area to avoid is against the rules (??) The entire post is gone from my list, even. ?
  8. Ok, I was at the newer Powder Springs wine and spirits shop picking up some um... "medicine", and got one of their fliers about an event they and another business are holding this upcoming weekend at the Cangelosi's restaurant. Here's what I got off of the flier and I can remember, but I lost the flier this morning so just call or email them for more info if you need it: Saturday, September 26th, 2009. There will actually be two events. 1) The Grand Wine Tasting will be from 1:30pm to 3:00pm (abouts - I think), and will feature wines that have been poured from the previous tast
  9. I was lucky. I live in the Powder Springs area and work around the Cobb/Paulding line, so I was going against traffic to work and it's only about a 3-4 mile commute. I can take a couple of side roads directly into my neighborhood too, so I SHOULD be ok going home.
  10. This is a (crappy) cell phone pic I took along the way. Note the cars are completely stopped and not moving at all... ... and also note that these pics only represent a small fraction of the completely stopped lanes.
  11. > TRAFFIC ALERT!, Avoid Richard Sailor's Parkway @ 278 Completely! I left Powder Springs to come to work on the Cobb/Paulding line a few minutes ago folks, and let me say, AVOID Richard Sailor's Parkway that cuts through Powder Springs if you're trying to find a way to go toward Atlanta. This is Eastbound I'm talking about. I kid you not - traffic was stopped for MILES. All the way up Richard Sailors, and even up both North and South lanes trying to turn onto it on 278. As of 15 minutes ago, the left lane of 278 going South was actually backed up all the way to Florence Road
  12. I know we've had at least 12 inches in West Cobb but I didn't reset the gauge. I'm now watching a rapidly growing brown spot on my bedroom ceiling, and have three 100lb dogs who haven't gone out to take a crap in 18 hours. DAMMIT.
  13. I don't know if anyone is familiar with this guy, but as goofy as he tries to be on purpose, he seems to have more common sense when watching the news than most folks. LOL
  14. Oh, that's gonna look weird in 10 years - a Ronald McDonald-red head Eminem??? Scary. Those parents had better start strapping that kid to a TV with Sesame Street turned on.
  15. Presidents are still HUMAN. What - they're never supposed to have an opinion once they take office? Hey, some folks can hate Obama all they want, but you have to admit, he got an extra credit point from a lot of people FOR saying that. LOL. Text version: http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.as...12&catid=40
  16. Well, I read that too, but I seriously doubt that 7 police cars and a huge Cobb police van were needed over a horse. LOL. I think the horse thing happened a lot earlier than this. This was going on around 8:50am this morning.
  17. On my way to work this morning, I was on Richard Sailor's Parkway in Powder Springs, nearing the Highway 278 intersection. At least 6-7 Cobb and Powder Springs police cars went by me going in the opposite direction (toward town) with all light going, driving at full speed. Shortly behind them was a very large "Cobb Emercency Services" white van the size of a SWAT van. I know there are "scanner people" on here. Anyone hear of anything that was going on that was big in West Cobb this morning?
  18. I like any of the European commercials, because they crank out much better stuff than we ever have.... This one isn't a commercial but the first time I saw it I just about peed....
  19. This is turning out to be "different"... http://www.wsbtv.com/news/20851020/detail.html I saw a show on this one day when I was home eating lunch. Remember the word "morphodite", that everyone thought literally meant someone who was born with both sets of male and female sex organs? Apparently that's not what it really means to the medical community (at least these days). Apparently, there's a slew of people out there who have "parts" of organs of the opposite sex, but they're kinda like up-inside them, while their normal ones show like normal on the outside. But, since they do
  20. The Hefty trash bag "stinky" commercial. After the first few hundred times of seeing it, I finally got to the point that every time it comes on I would just stand up and scream at the TV, "Stop standing there holding the damn bag, woman!!! Take it out!!!!!!" Finally when I realized that this chick was causing an elevation in my blood pressure I have now just learned to flip the station. And I stopped buying Hefty.
  21. I find that it's easier to just scoot across the carpet - that way you don't have to worry about toilet paper at all.
  22. My mutt Lucy has advanced to the next week in the dog photo contest, so thanks for the votes everyone has given her so far. I didn't get a notification that she won any of the weekly things though, but I guess she's had enough votes to keep moving on toward the bigger prizes. Considering the fact that between my dogs I've run up over $500 lately in vet bills, I want this mutt to win some dollars! $$ LOL. She needs to earn her keep with her looks now. The link is still good, and you can vote once per day (if you still want to). Thanks again, folks: http://www.cutestdogcom
  23. Thanks, everyone. I'd take a pic of her now with a thank you face, but she's aiming her butt toward the camera. Not a good shot.
