But the "drill baby drill" crowd was proven right when fracking increased our oil production by about 40%, flooding the market with oil which made supply exceed demand again, and caused prices to plummet. You will probably try and say that's not what happened, but it is. But yes...we need to have alternative forms of energy under development for down the road aways.
