  1. Each ballot is controlled by the party it belongs to. Only the final election, (November I guess?) will be the same for everyone.
  2. What WAS that sound? Was it somebody's noise maker or some horn on the stadium? OK, found out about them. I enjoyed what I saw of the game, I was at the West Metro 3v3 also, but that would have driving me nutz to be there. If I was FIFA, that would be enough to make sure there was NEVER another world cup anywhere near SA.
  3. I imagine it's Gas, Alcohol and some electric sport planes. At least that's the mix we had at CCRC. The smaller electric planes, the "Park Flyers" are more likely away from a organized field. Not that they are not welcome, it's just easier to fly them without the hassle of dodging other airplanes. Mid air collisions are not common, but they do happen and are very destructive when they do. If you are interested in seeing model helicopters, check out the CCRC field. They have a dedicated Heli area and a lot of heli pilots because of it. The things a really good pilot can do with them i
  4. While you have some very good points, I disagree greatly with the above at least in the last two years. Before that, I would agree completely: Jerry and his "crew" (some of which i believe are running in this election) voted to spend every dime they could get. They: Lied to us about the fire tax to get a 2 mil general fund tax increase by pulling the fire support from the general fund the FIRST year after it passed. Used up the county reserves to pay the bonds on the courthouse THEY approved for the first year, so we wouldn't see it until *after* the last elections. Allowed the b
  5. It is a lot of fun. I flew with the CCRC (Cobb County Radio Control) for 5 years or so before the bottom dropped out of my company and I ran out of time and money. I've still got a couple of 40 sized trainers, 1 40 sized Stik and 1 20 sized stik. Hope to join PCMA in a couple of years when the kids are a little older and I have the cash to overhaul the radios, the batteries have just about all failed while they have been hanging in the shop for 6 years. Looking at the PCMA schedule it is a senior pattern contest this weekend, should be fun to watch. If it's the same as Co
  6. Got my daughters from North Paulding today.
  7. OK, thanks. I'm sorry about it, he was the one I really wanted to hear speak.
  8. No real surprise, just disappointment that two of the four candidates for Post 4 were not there. I really need some more information to figure out who I'm going to vote and work for in Post 4. David Austin was there, maybe I should have just asked him who he'd rather work with.
  9. Between the BOC and the BOE's refusal to raise the millage rate when they have a 17% decrease in the tax base, you are already getting over a 15% tax break this year. However, part of the ability to reduce the budgets is the local option sales taxes. The SPLOST (paid by people when they spend money, not because they own a family house or farm) is paying for needed capital improvements that will have to be added to the budget if it is not passed. Have you driven on a county road lately? There are potholes EVERYWHERE. Repairs and improvements MUST be done if we are to attract badly needed b
  10. I guess what hit me about Donovan was his discussions about his time on the street. I'm sure every investigator has had a case of his either not prosecuted or not prosecuted quickly enough to suit him/her. They have to think some time or another that they could do a better job. Donovan has the desire to go ahead and do it. It just seems to me that Donovan seemed more determined to get the cases done. Now, in Lane's defense, my wife was on the jury in one of those murder cases he mentioned and she said that they almost had to let the guy go, but it wasn't the prosecutor, it was errors
  11. I was only able to stay for the speeches, but I agree that he came off the strongest to me.
  12. 8th grade was tough on my son too. I think it's something about that age.
  13. I think they need to call it "Weather Second Guessing" rather than "Weather Forecasting". They don't have a clue.
  14. Something on the order of 80% of our population works outside of the county since there are few high tech/manufacturing jobs here. That's the primary problem. Before I was able to move to work at home, I was one of those driving out of county every day. Are you saying that the 80% of the county population have no right to try to fix the county they live and pay taxes in because they can't find jobs here? Right... I don't live in the 19th, but I sure would not let that be a deciding factor!
  15. It was due to North starting as a 9th Grade only. They added on grade each year, next year it will have it's first senior class. My son was a senior this year, he just missed the cutoff for North. Transportation budget should be less this year, they have had to have double buses across the NPHS and PCHS transport areas for 3 years.
  16. One child in PCHS, got it today. One in North, haven't seen it yet.
  17. Early voting has started and I believe that is the county location for it. There were several of the signs that said "No campaigning within 150 ft of the voting location".
  18. Oh boy, you hit my PO button - I was UPGRADING my DSL speed that I had put in when it was Cingular. She tells me that I was being billed behind because of my contract, but now that ATT has it, they bill AHEAD a month. So I ended up paying for two months service in the same month. If not for the fact I had just spent two weeks with technicians getting the line to FINALLY work well, I'd told her have ATT store their extra charges where the sun didn't shine. So be aware, any changes to your pre-ATT account may end up costing you an extra months service charge.
  19. Interesting. Note to self, be careful who I donate to.
  20. Went by tonight after Soccer tryouts. From what I saw, looks like most of the candidates have cleaned up their supporters over enthusiasm. Only saw a few of each candidate at each entrance. LOL, they did all try to get in the last sign! However, Drew Lane is either very desperate for attention or rather ego centric, I can't tell which, he had sign after sign after sign... He does work at the courthouse right? He would see these every day right?
  21. ATT did offer a DSL connection without the phone, but didn't advertise it. You have to ask for it. I would imagine they still have it.
  22. This one is strange - Committee to Re-Elect Hal Echols 4645 Macland Road Hiram, GA 30141 So if donate to any PAC, and they don't use my money for their cause, they are allowed to donate anywhere THEY want to?
  23. Any Post 4 candidates going to be there? Who is sponsoring the event?
  24. I see the same thing at a lot of intersections too. Dabbs Bridge and HGCR is loaded with multiple signs for candidates for the 19th and we're not even in the 19th!! Signs in someones yard impress me more than signs on the road. Anyone can put on one road, to have in someone's yard at least means that person has found them worth supporting.
