Stealth School SPLOST Tax Extension on the Ballot?
NewsJunky replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Whitey, I sat in a meeting and heard all about this from every aspect the day it was announced. Honest and above board. I voted for it because it gives me a choice of buying in Paulding, not buying, or going to another county to make my purchases. If they have to up the millage rate to cover our existing debts I will have no choice but to pay it with my property taxes. I would rather have some choices. They did not try to withhold any information or gloss over it. It is a renewal that will not start until the old one expires. -
Just VOTED for PROGRESS IN PAULDING!
NewsJunky replied to Concerned Pldg Resident's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I think we will know where the people of Paulding stand on this issue when the votes are counted. I care about all of my Paulding neighbors and have not taken sides. That is true for those whose homes are in the flight path as well as those who have voted for what they believe is the best direction for Paulding County. I wish that friends were not divided about this. Put it on a ballot already! -
No one to vote for in Richard Osborne's judgeship?
NewsJunky replied to The Sound Guy's topic in Paulding County NEWS
The Governor will appoint and there will be an election in 2 years. For a write in to count a candidate would have had to get signatures (can't remember the percentage of voters) by a certain date to qualify. You can write a name in but it won't really count. -
COMMON CORE: WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT REALLY TRYING TO DO?

You are preaching to the choir from where I stand. Been singing this song since before they started 1-2-3 Math. Think they have now slapped labels like integrated and segregated math on the program. Stop confusing the kids and the parents. Teach math already! Who you vote for State Superintendent is very important. Go vote for goodness sake! -

Less than 40 percent of High School Seniors are ready for entry level college courses. This is unacceptable. http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/get-schooled/2014/may/14/less-40-percent-nations-graduating-high-school-sen/ -

Common Core puts all students into the same box. Common Core lacks common sense. Course that has been lacking in education for some time. Kids are not all the same. Those who can fly should not have strings tied to them to hold them back. Those who are slower should not have to feel bad because they are placed in classes where they can't keep up.. -

Georgia has already opted out of the testing that would have been done by the government. Not enough, they need to opt out period! -

Looks like the top 3 in the polls for Senate are: Perdue, Handel, and Kingston. Choose wisely. -

The section you posted referred to the BOE candidate as Carl Cosgrove. That was his first mistake, it is Earl Cosgrove. I know that raising the millage is also an option. Would I want to vote for someone who advocates that as the way to go just because it will create revenue for the system? I don't think so. -

Perdue is for Common Core. Broun will not win the Primary. I truly hope it is not Perdue. He is not what his ads claim. In a recent article in the Macon Telegraph he advocated raising taxes. http://politics.blog.ajc.com/2014/05/13/david-perdue-and-the-reality-of-increasing-federal-revenue/ . -

They will have a hard time ditching this after they take money from the Feds. This is controlled by the Federal Government. -

Common core is a bad deal for Georgia. Wish they would opt out. I know the schools say they need more parental involvement where the students are concerned but common core freezes parents out when it comes to help at home. -
I am going to be the lone voter for Artic Cool in Powder Springs it seems. Dependable, honest, and reasonable. Been using them for years.

It would not affect this election. Yes he had to resign. I do not believe he should have left an elected position because some business men asked him to. -

He is free to do as he wishes and leave his elected post. I and others in his post have the right and the freedom to vote for someone else. I do get a vote in that one and it won't go to him. A special election can't happen when a BOE person resigns because of a county rule/law. He did not ask anyone that I know. Not even the elected BOE members. They did not know he was leaving. -
Pretty crowded when we go. Looks like it is doing OK.

You and I are on opposing sides as far the BOE member resigning. He won't get my vote because the folks in the post he resigned from don't get a voice in the new BOE member. He/she will be appointed by the BOE. He had almost 3 years left to serve and there are two other Republican candidates in the race. You really think I should vote to give him more power because he just decided he wanted it? I don't think so! The other guy was not elected I do see a difference in the two. The people did not elect him. I get a vote in that race, do you? -

Because one of them if not both did not have them made up. As I understand it they were put out by someone who supports them. -
Really like the walking area all the way around it. I see lots of folks using it in the future.

Sorry, but that is not true. Do you feel that way about Todd or would you feel that way if Micah Gravley had a challenger. I am amazed at the way Bill Hembree is attacking Senator Mike Dugan as some kind of insider. Bill was in the legislature for years and lost his run against Mike 2 years ago. That is not much time to gain the title of insider. It depends on the candidate. JMO
