This is a question being raised by parents in a Florida school. All of the children in the class are required to scrub down their hands and rinse their mouths 3 times a day because a classmate has a deadly peanut allergy. They also have to follow strict rules about what they can bring to eat. Parents are protesting outside of the school because some feel their children's educations are being undermined by the protections which are in place for one child. Apparently there will be a peanut sniffing dog brought in on Friday. Anyone have any thought or comments about this? Link to story:

You said it very well and I agree.

I guess I can be just as judgemental as you can!

The guy in the article has not been confirmed yet. I think more research on his philosophy is warranted and we will be doing that. The decision has been made about the kid attending this year.
-
Mine does not choose to go to the one in question. The Kid does get a vote.

Good for you! I too am glad we still have choice in America. If you send your child to ANY university these days you can expect them to be exposed to all of the above. I will look at who runs these schools and who hires them. That is my choice to make in which schools I will support. You have the same choice. I bet you would not send yours to Oral Roberts University would you?

In your words: "but I don't recall any professor ever interjecting his personal, political opinions into any discussion. I don't see that it should be necessary unless, of course, the professor pursues some agenda". I am glad you did not have a professor with an obvious agenda or one that expected you to agree with them politically.
-
Happy it did not happen to you.

Thanks to you and to LTD for trying to set the facts straight. You will never get some to agree with true and correct history facts though. They like re-writing it far too much. Maybe the parents just don't know who she really is.

I really don't much care what you think. You have to place some value on a person's opinion for it to matter much. It is still my money and I will spend it were I choose to.
-
There is only one America. There are a ton of colleges and thankfully we still get to choose where to spend our money.
-
It can also have a bearing on who they support as instructors in the school. You are correct. It is a personal decision to support a school who hires a man with his philosophy or not. I choose were to spend my money in whatever area is important to me. Education is important to me. It is my choice and my family's choice. It just shows the leanings of folks who don't get that. They are all about your right to choose until it does not agree with their choice.

The reports are saying that the US is one of about 20 countries that are in the path of a possible tsunami. This is very bad!!! Link to one story with some pictures. Hawaii is one that could be hit hard. People are already scrambling to get to higher ground in some places. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/ap_on_re_as/as_japan_earthquake -
Getting nasty now are we. Time for me to go. Find some one else to insult I don't put up with that kind of behavior.
-
I see you haven't changed. No body's opinion counts but yours and you are still hurling the insults. A Socialist /Marxist in a powerful position in a College is OK with you as I knew it would be. Not with me and I will have nothing to do with the school if they hire him. That also depends on whether the picture that has been painted of him is factual.

A number of varied degrees in this family and all of the students learned to give the teacher what he/she wanted in order to do well in the class. It has gotten more liberal with each passing year. Sad that all Professors are not as unbiased as they should be.
-
Probably did not bother you because you agreed with them. Maybe your grades did not suffer for them same reason.

:clapping: :clapping: Family considered the possibility that Grand kid might go there. Grand kid won't!!! It has been decided and is now official. I think this is disgraceful.

I think it is Mickey Skelton.

Is our confrontational management style part of the problem?

I didn't think Toyota had unions. I do not believe you can have a winner without having a loser if it has to do with competition. I do believe we can have competition and do it with respect. (Win/Win) This phrase is over used and leads to a wrong conclusion in a lot of cases.JMO -
You mean the silent Senator. If he exists he needs to let it be known to his Paulding constituents!

Looks like the parents and teachers who have lobbied for Pre-K have won some concessions. No half day now? http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/local_news/Gov.-Deal-to-Scale-Back-Pre-K-Cuts-20110307-ap-sd

Young man stopped at my house. Sounds like part of the same group. I told him I have a grand kid starting to college and all spare change will go to the Kid. He left.

He had an Democrat opponent in November and Heath won handily around (72% to 27%). Someone did run against him!
