How will our children be able to sign their name?

I did forget that is the way some folks here read a post even when it is not meat that way. Maybe you should retract yours. -
The biggest thing they discussed, in my opinion, was the new Paulding Policy on Bullying. There were some financial issues discussed, like the one on the pest control contract for the schools. I think there may be another meeting tonight. I assume you mean the BOE meeting. The Commission had one too.

How will our children be able to sign their name?

I hate to break it to you but I didn't fail. I am fortunate enough to have had children and grandchildren who have managed to do fairly well in school so far. If you think the whole idea behind the public school system is not to educate children whose parents can't or won't do it then you need to think again. We all pay for it and it needs to work. We should all be working to make it better. If that means competition is needed then that is what I will be working toward. -
How will our children be able to sign their name?

They would only get what is their portion anyway. They would not get anything that did not already belong to them. It would only be the portion the state provides to each child not the Federal portion. As far as the Health care is concerned I believe Obamacare is unconstitutional and I think the Supreme Court will find that it is. It is a power grab and nothing more. It is based on a lie about saving money and it needs to die. If you think my family does not deal with that issue too then you are mistaken. Maybe with a better education the kids we are speaking of will stand a better chan -
How will our children be able to sign their name?

You can't put them in private school if you have no money to pay for it, you can't home school them if you can't read yourself or even speak English. No, all parents can't do those things. The public school system needs to do it's job and it is up to the parents and the citizens who pay taxes for public schools to insist that they do it well. -

It sure would be nice if they allowed the parent to choose a school that would teach their child if he/she wasn't getting it. Sorry but with the schools being public, parents should be able to expect them to do their jobs. Not all parents are equipped with the knowledge to teach their children. I thought that is why we paid for a public school system. Those same parents want better for their own kids in most cases. Can't always blame the parents. -

How will our children be able to sign their name?

How long before they don't know how to write at all. We are getting far too dependent upon computers. I wonder what would happen if all of the computers went down? I think it is more reason to worry about education in general. -
One of Rep. Braddocks ideas ... What do you think?

Hey BB, I think it is time for us to leave the voucher question and what Paulette is up to to former member. I am going to read a good book. -

Thank you BB. I think highly of you too. I am not even sure you agree with the voucher system but I do know you respect the right of those who do to have their opinion. Elitist is a word that best describes those in political power in Washington right now. It seems to me that they took away a program that was helping kids to learn and have a chance to get out of terrible schools. Why? It was a voucher system, and it was putting those poor kids at the same expensive private school that the Obama kids attend. Now who is the elitist? -

Just goes to show that you have no idea what you are talking about. You sure have picked the wrong person to try to accuse of doing something like that. -

Not surprised you feel that way. I want the best for all children, and if they were allowed to take the money with them, private schools would crop up all over. Schools that would accept what the public schools get to educate them.. -

They don't give them the money that the parent paid in taxes to educate their child. It belongs to that child and he/she deserves to get the best education for it. The best system is not the public school system for all of those kids but they are trapped in it. People who fight to keep them there should re think what they are doing.. -

Yes it would treat them all the same. They could all get a chance to go to a better school. -

I really don't have a problem with not allowing it for religious schools I do have one with not allowing it for private schools. Money should follow the child. I think a large number of parents who are using religious based schools would be OK with decent private schools. They just have little choice right now. -

If they do that we will see how many are re-elected. I disagree with you. Parents should have the choice no matter what kind of school it is as long as it is good at educating the child. Last time I checked, the Catholic Schools had great results at that. Maybe the Public Schools should follow their lead on how to do it. Discipline is a very big factor. -

Who do you think the bureaucracy is and who do you think allows them to control things. Could it be our elected officials? Look for more Charter Schools and Virtual Schools. We keep electing folks we think will make changes. How do you think it is working out? I keep hoping for it to change and I will keep working for candidates that I think will change it. Let the money follow the Child!!!! It is the child's share because it is their parents who pay the taxes for that education. Parents should have the choice about what is best for their children. Why leave it to government to decide -

How do you suggest that you get past the bureaucracy to make the schools better? Have you seen the picture of the little guy beating his head against a brick wall? Let the money follow the child. There is a lot of talk about how other countries beat America at education. One of the reasons is that the money does follow the child. That would make the Public Schools compete and they would get better. It is amazing how folks will use the Christian schools as a threat and a reason NOT to allow parents the choice about which school is best for their child. -
Good move on his part. I think it would have been a distraction for the school. http://blogs.ajc.com/political-insider-jim-galloway/2011/03/17/ksu-choice-for-provost-withdraws-after-marxist-criticism/?cxntfid=blogs_political_insider_jim_galloway

They endorsed letting the people of Paulding decide.

I was there today too. Can't say I am surprised. The Paulding County Republican Party had a Resolution last Saturday that called for the passage of this bill. Amazing that a dead Bill can show so much life!!

How Far Should The Rights Of Children Go When
NewsJunky replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Unless I missed something, I did not see folks in this thread getting ugly. I have no nominations for you. I actually think this type of issue may cause some real problems for school systems down the road. In this Florida school it already has. I am interested to see how it is resolved. I have found the comments in this thread interesting and in some cases informative. LPPT, I had no idea there was an illness such as the one your child has. -
How Far Should The Rights Of Children Go When
NewsJunky replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My first thought was that if she were my child I would never take a chance on the ability of other people to keep a mistake from happening. I would probably home school. If one of the students in that school makes a mistake it could kill this little girl. How would that effect the life of the child who made the mistake?
