An uncertain future for toll road plan
kerstinamber replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Glad I found out about this before we bought a house. I'm about out of options in Paulding Co. Between the roads going to be changing to 4-lanes and this, I'm pretty sure we're going to have to move pretty far up north to get out of this mass of congestion and people. -
Find me a house...(no??) Ok..how 'bout help me collect up items to ship to Joplin, MO? :-) Save the checkens.

Where to locate the information on the widening of Hwy 61?

SS--I do have to worry since we're looking to buy a house-I won't want one anywhere near a road that is supposed to be 4 lanes! I knew I'd read about it happening--so thank you for the information everybody! -

And actually wondering too...the nice man selling Christmas trees on ridge road said that road is also supposed to be 4 lane when we talked to him at Christmas about his tree farm that's for sale -
Where to locate the information on the widening of Hwy 61?

It was discussed along the way at some point and if you look up real estate listings especially commercial ones they advertise for their property is on the soon to be widened highway 61. -
I charged $25/day for one kiddo for the whole day!! I guess it depends on how far you have to drive? With the price of gas and all that makes a difference...If it were close, I'd say $10 for the couple of hours (not per hour)

Mud boggin in North Paulding is in the news this week
kerstinamber replied to LPPT's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Seriously? Um, LOTS are home on Saturday afternoon. Not everybody works 'regular' hours. Sorry, I just saw that comment and had to add that. You CANNOT discount the people who live right up on this event. AGAIN, I am NOT against the mud boggs-I just put it out there you must consider all the points. -
Rant: Saw a lot of this while on vacation.

It's actually littering. Cigarette butts DO NOT decompose. We would find butts in archaeological digs that were quite old. Personally, I think anybody that throws one on the ground should get a huge littering fine. It's nasty. -

I'd like to repeat: I am NOT against this ordeal. I was merely asking a question. There is DEFINITELY overbuilding in Paulding without a doubt. That's a whole 'nuther story. I was simply asking a question about the environmental impact. Another thing one has to ask is about where the excessive oil/gas will go when/if it gets into the ground-what is the watershed area there? -

Yes, if it doesn't affect the environment or the people in general, I don't see why the fuss. I would be curious to know about the noise-differing opinions on what is 'loud' and what is not. I would hate it if I could hear loud engine noise or 4-wheeler type noise the entire day of the events-especially if I had a home in the back of a subdivision nowhere near the main road-probably the reason I bought it to start with-to avoid the noise right? Wallowing around in mud in a truck all day doesn't sound fun to me, but it doesn't sound like a problem based on what you're saying. -

You absolutely have a say-so in this. However, I think the people against this are talking about their HOMES. Their largest investment. I'm impartial (this doesn't affect me at all really) but, I can totally see where they are coming from. I wouldn't want this in my backyard either. Agreed you have a right to do what you want to with your truck, but when it affects the homes of the people next to it, there's more to this than a simple argument. I would raise heck if this were trying to occur next to me. I live in my home quietly and would despise the noise and pollution from such an event. HOW -

I, for one, wasn't cutting down mud bogging at all (since I know little about it)-but you didn't answer any of my questions. -

Been ages since I spoke up in a topic...but this one is quite curious. Couple of questions....Has anybody been able to completely identify the environmental impact on such an event? You can't just count the 'event'-you have to look at the overall picture. Second, really how much money is this going to bring in?? TOTAL dollar amounts? And, I read over impartially because I don't know much about these things, but it appears the people who do not live nearby are the ones not caring--can anybody actually identify the true impact of what this will be like for residents? -
Heard it here off Scoggins LOUDLY (near 61 end)

Hubby just drove from south Paulding to Alpharetta. Just in case anybody is traveling that way: Paulding Co Roads were fine. Cobb Co roads (he stuck to main roads-did NOT try Whitlock) were ok. Fulton Co roads were AWFUL in the Roswell/Alpharetta area. Just wanted to update as the most helpful thing on here seems to be the first-hand road reports.
