  1. My question too. I have read every single post in this topic and I still can't figure what the problem is with a campaign banner on a surplus military vehicle. It's disrespectful somehow because the guy on the banner didn't serve in the military? OH P-L-E-A-S-E! You don't need a military ID to buy surplus vehicles and after you purchase them, you can use them however you wish as long as that purpose falls within the limits of the law. Talk about nitpicking and trying to use smoke screens to make your non point.. If you have a valid point, make it. Don't cloud the issue with nonsense and a
  2. I like that!! Shooot, I have to because his clothes and shoes are breaking me. Not only that we now have to buy mens sizes, but he's outgrowing things faster than I can keep him in them.
  3. Unfortunately, I think the deterrent that the justice systen refers to is that a criminal will think twice before they commit a crime BECAUSE they might get the death penalty, therein lies your supposed 'deterrent'. What a load, a criminal is a criminal is a criminal and they won't be detered on any level. The death penalty should have take this guy out after he killed his first victim. No second chances, no slaps on the wrist. If there is proof, evidence that can't be refuted, they can't be reformed and they will just kill again until someone stops them, whether it be another inmate or th
  4. I'm having a small problem with this.......well, actually, it's a 'big' problem. Middleschooler is 5'7", 135 lbs AND he's 12. The issue is, is that when we go places and 'kids 12 and under' eat free or have reduced price admission, etc., people don't believe he's only 12 and either question me very suspiciously or deny any discount all together. I don't want to seem cheap and I don't want to carry around his birth certificate, but as long as he falls within the guidelines, I want to take advantage of whatever discounts available.
  5. The commission is in support of the guard training at the airport, thats great, but according to the man on the news, the headaches involving the opposition and the negative reactions led them to cease operations. Did they start again? The commission can support it all day long, but that doesn't mean that they will be back to have to deal with the critics.
  6. I didn't hear the commission say anything about the National Guard ceasing operations at the airport, I heard the spokesperson for the National Guard say it. 'Because of the opposition of neighboring communities due to the noise that comes along with our training practices, we have ceased operations at the PC airport and are actively seeking a less controversial venue for our operations'. As far as I'm concerned, that's straight from the horses mouth, he had NO agenda except to say they weren't training there anymore. No commissioner was involved in his statement.
  7. Nope, she made nothing up. Paulding Patti went on the news whining that the National Guard doing maneuvers at the airport gave her PTSD, her words, not anyone elses. And what in the He!! do veterans have to do with the airport? If you support veterans, you have to be against the airport and vice versa? It makes no sense to even bring up the two in the same conversation. And if anyone against the airport is so worried about our veterans, maybe they could have curtailed their disdain and opposition and let the National Guard continue to use the field for training. 'We love our vets and o
  8. Doing well, counting down the days til vacation on the 21st.
  9. And you honestly believe that all the issues in Clayton County have been caused by the airport? How absurd.
  10. I have always thought he was one funny man! I have to believe that he could make it today just because that means theres hope for the future.
  11. You're sweet!! Thank you so much, you're sweet!
  12. One of my favorite all time songs.
  13. I think you're right, when we found some things yesterday, we'd look at each other and say, 'OOOHHH MYYYYY, W-H-A-T was she thinking,' and then we'd laugh and laugh and move on to something else.
  14. I can't tell you how many times yesterday I picked up something and said, 'OMG, I remember...............'. My friend who helped loved hearing the stories and I laughed and cried more than once. Of course, I know shes gone, but somehow when we were packing up yesterday, it made it 'real'. As long as her stuff was intact and in the places that she left it, it was a little more bearable. But I can't imagine how my BIL stayed there for as long as he did and I'm glad he's finally moving forward and I think we can too.
  15. A fuel spill and an aviation fuel fire are in no way the same thing.
  16. I also want to say a public THANK YOU to my friend and neighbor and her son who went to help today. I really think it was easier to have a neutral party there in addition to Hubby. We used her truck, she packed and moved and her 12 year old son was great too. And to my husband who loaded trucks, went through the attic, lifted huge cement and marble pots and vases, let me brings lots of stuff to an already crowded house, was at my beck and call and was there with hugs and encouragement when it got too hard....I love you and I thank you. I couldn't have survived the last 6 years as well as I
  17. I did get a lot of things today. My BIL has new things with his new lady, so most everything was divided up between my niece and nephew and me. They were VERY generous and insisted that I take more than I thought I deserved. But she was my sister and I love everything that is now filling my parking space in the garage.
  18. You're buddy is exactly right, When is enough time? Hubby and I have had this conversation and have explained to our children, especially our girls, that we want the other person to be happy if something happens to one of us. If that includes another partner after a month, a year or 10, it would never diminish the relationship we have/had. It makes me crazy when I hear people say, 'if something happens to me, don't get remarried'. I've had 'friends' tell their spouses that point blank. Who would do that?
  19. Honestly, I think not having that dread hanging over me and the anticipation of having to this hard thing, I will find peace now. Thank you! It just seemed so final today. I mean, of course I know she's gone, but as long as her stuff was intact it didn't seem so real. It sounds dumb I know, it's just a weird feeling.
  20. My sister passed away 6 1/2 years ago and my BIL finally met a nice woman, they bought a house together and he's finally moving on. He put their house on the market 6 weeks ago and it sold almost immediately. So for the last 2 days, we've been moving, packing and breaking up my sisters house. So much of everything she had was still almost exactly like she left it, her house was decorated beautifully and everything went together as a whole. It was really sad today to send this piece one way and that piece another way. It was all a collection of years and years and to see it drive away in 3
