You're not very nice. -
Not hiding in actually, hiding behind. Which depending on how you look at it, could be hiding in trees!! I just wonder if I'd be the one that seems to be so frowned upon if other parents did something, ANYTHING, similar.

The stories Hubby tells me about when he was a kid make me cringe. He and his brothers rode their bikes all over Smyrna, they walked three miles to and from school and with no direct path, they just went willy nilly, this way and that and their Mom never knew where they were. When they were 10, 11 and 12 she dropped them off at the Smyrna pool, BY THEMSELVES, and went on her merry way. WHO DOES THAT? I can be over protective, I know that and I own it. But it is no where to the point that I hover inches away and act a fool.....even if I wanted to!! Middleschooler walks out of our front

Well that explains a lot! I can't walk outside in the evening without being carried off. They've sprayed in the past, don't know why they haven't this year. -

YUP, that was a huge debate on here a while back. I'm all for a closer range, but one that sells alcohol.......not so much! Yes they are.

I got #48 too, weird! All signed up!! -
Exactly, thank you.

You're funny!! And if someone is trying to scam and steal from you, they deserve a few bad words flung their way, in my world anyway.
-
Yep, that's what I meant for it to be, funny. And believe me, the hopping on one foot trying to get his shirt over his head, was a real hoot!!!
-
Sounds like a plan to me. OOOOORRR maaaybe she could be the entertainment.
-
Want me to come to your neighborhood and act like a nut Mom? I will. I'll do it!!!

I do realize that people have different opinions and I have no problem with that. But the venom that has been spewed here and people saying that my son is a wimp or sheltered or somehow inferior because I CHOOSE to keep a watchful eye, isn't sharing an opinion. It's being rude, nasty and assuming things about about a wonderfully well rounded, smart, independent kid that most parents can just dream about. You can share an opinion without being an a$$hat. Well most intelligent people can. I appreciate your support, but according to some of the comments made here, those 3 girls

Thank you. 5th grade? WOW!

THANK YOU! There is a convicted child molester who lives 2 streets away from my neighborhood entrance. Maybe some of you have seem him, bald with glasses near Publix, Walgreens, and the Chevron on Old Cartersville rd? He's around all the time. But maybe just cut out the worry I have about people like him, I should just take middleschooler to his residence on Mona Place and drop him off.

I don't disagree with anything you said and I truly appreciate the way you stated it. Oh LORD, don't even talk about him driving to school!!
-
And while some of you have been SO hateful, did any of you ever stop to think for one single second that events of my own childhood could be the reason I act this way? Think about that and then take your nasty, presumptive, attitudes, stick them in your pockets and keep them there.

Not a problem and I understand the no sleep thing with a new baby. He's getting a cell phone this weekend and today I did watch for the bus, 5 houses away where no one could see and give him grief about it. I saw what I needed to see, there are two other kids that are right in front of the bus stop and there was their Mom on the porch watching for her kids too. And we live in a good neighborhood, safe, etc. But cars speed and work vans are abundant, so if I have to be berated by people who don't know me or my kid or how funny, smart, witty and self sufficient he is, then I'll live with it
-
Did you not read that he had always been a car rider and yesterday was his first day on the bus? And he's by no means in a bubble.
-
This is a touching story and tribute and right up middleschoolers alley, he also loves origami. We're in.

I'm sorry, but this guy is a BIG, STUPID, IDIOT. First off, I don't want to see your weiner, Mr. Weiner. Secondly, if you're in public office, IT WILL COME OUT. YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH IT!!! Third, how absurdly, stupid must you be to run for a different office and CONTINUE to sext women? Does he really BELIEVE in his TINY PEA BRAIN that he could run for mayor of NYC and actually be elected? OMG, what a huge, moronic fool.
-
Luckily, neither Hubby or I is too lazy, self absorbed or clueless about the world around us to take the time to go that 1/4 or 1/2 mile to make sure he gets on and off the bus safely. I'll bet you're not either. Thank you, exactly! If I could see the bus stop on the other street, he could go by himself.
-
I never said panic mode, I said freaked out a little. And the reason for that is because I TOLD him we'd be at the bus stop and we weren't. He wasn't concerned for himself, but he wondered what caused us not to be where we SAID we'd be and weren't. I'm not afraid to let him grow up, he's an independent, very well rounded child. But that doesn't mean he's grown and that it's OK for him to walk half way down one street, turn down another and walk halfway down that one to get to his house. The stop is 15 houses away on a totally different street, at a cul-de-sac and regardless of what anyone

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! I love this question!!! It's a game on a cell phone, that's all I know!!
-
Exactly!
