  1. Thank you so much for all of that information!! I got some good tips from Caped Crusader this morning too. I'm getting sooo excited and I know October 19 will be here before I know it. And I'll happily enjoy the 5 min free massage, I'm immune to the extras people try to sell us. We went to Las Vegas a few years ago and we don't gamble or drink but we had a great time. I would put $1 in an nickel/dime slot and bet in the smallest increments I could. In the end I spent around $20 and on the last night I won $190 with a dime bet, that time I wished I bet the entire $1.
  2. I really, really wish Sara Babb did things like your branch does. Maybe it does and they don't advertise like y'all do on Pcom.
  3. Go on a Segaway tour of Atlanta, you can't imagine how much fun it is. We went for our anniversary last year and had an absolute blast. You can pick from different areas of the city like downtown or midtown, evening or day, 1 1/2 - 3 hours. And check Livingsocial or Groupon if you decide to go because I got a great deal through one of them. Rome Braves baseball game. Cheap, close, fun and not a bad seat in the house. If Agathas Mystery Theater is still around, that's really fun too. I think it moved from Peachtree to another location several years ago. Yep, it's still around, here's t
  4. I agree with this 100%. I'm not afraid every time I walk out of the house, but I have the good sense to know when to be cautious and aware. While I don't disagree, tell that to the victims in Boston.
  5. I should have thought about that and thank you for reminding me. My daughter went on an Alaskan cruise 5 years ago and it never occurred to me that roaming charges would apply ..........and boy did they. She called 2 or 3 times a day and we talked and talked and in the end we paid and paid.
  6. Carnival says you can open your account with cash and I think I'd rather do that then with a credit card so it won't be so open ended. Hubby may have 2 or 3 beers a day and I can't drink, so I hope incidentals don't cost an arm and a leg. It's 6.00 a day and you can do it per day, not per trip. Sounds like money well spent to me.
  7. That's what we are thinking too. He has friends at work that literally go on a cruise every other month and they love it. But they tend to drink a lot and gamble too, but with the different activities offered, I hope we love it as well and I wouldn't be opposed to taking middleschooler next time.
  8. You really are helping me, thank you so much!!!
  9. We applied for our passport cards on Friday at the courthouse. It worked out well because we needed a certified copy of Hubbys birth cert and he was born in Manchester, GA. Luckily, the courthouse in PC can issue certs for the entire state of GA. Then we went to another office, with no apt and no wait with documents and pics in hand and breezed right through. We were going have to wait until August 28 at one of the surrounding post offices who do passports, so it worked out great for us. I'm glad I only have to keep up with a card while on board, who wants to carry around a purse???
  10. Of all the things I've ever thought about sitting on, a flag pole has never been one of them!
  11. I want to get there by 10:30 or 11:00 because I've read about all the check points you have to go through before boarding. I'd rather wait than be in a panic about being late, that wouldn't start the trip off too well.
  12. I'd like to be able to stomp my feet and tell you how intolerant and backwards you are, but I'd have to say the same thing to myself because I'm right there with you. I would have felt the same way and I'm certain Hubby would have too. Good Lord, in Boston, people were watching a marathon, not paying attention and why would they be? Looked what happened. Radical Muslims with backpacks had evil on their minds and killed and maimed too many people to count. I will admit that it's sad that a few bad apples spoil the bunch, but how can you not be suspect after things we've all seen?
  13. The other port is Nassau and the plan is to go on a catamaran and to go snorkeling. Maybe it won't be so crowded since it's in October, no holiday and the kids will be in school. I normally don't like crowds, but I'm going with an open mind and the fact that we won't be having to look out for our 11 year old son, it will take the pressure off and we can just enjoy ourselves. We went to Tortola in the British Virgin islands several years ago and by the second day I wasn't wearing a bra or a seatbelt!!! So, who knows what I'll be up to a day or two after leaving home!! :rof
  14. I actually have one of these and he does like brewed. I'm a hot tea gal, so the tea set up would work for me. We tried to leave from New Orleans to go to Mexico, but there wasn't availability at the time we could go. We thought we'd kill two birds with one stone with that one because we've never been to New Orleans either. Maybe next time.
  15. And not only were some of them waay past inappropriate, but it lists your name on your idiotic comment. WTH? My favorite one was, 'How does a man rape his wife'? Seriously, dude? He needed to be slapped.
  16. That's our plan, I'd really hate to miss the boat. Departure is at 4:00pm, but I want to get on board ASAP and like you said, start enjoying our vaca. Also, I love the idea about looking behind the unlocked closed door, that's right up my alley. Good idea, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. A suit or a sport jacket for Hubby and cocktail dress for me? I'm not a 'gown' gal, as a rule.
  17. No problem, I think the confusion came from the Niagra Falls and Toronto post. When I got to looking at prices for NF, it wasn't too expensive but about 3 times more than the cruise. We needed to fly, rent a car and have a hotel. Plus food, blah, blah, I just decided to look into the cruise idea. Added to the fact that I didn't have to fly anywhere really helped! Hubby was surprised because he basically told me 'the world is your menu', choose. I'm a pretty low maintenance gal, so I decided to stay closer to home. In the end, he said as long as I was happy. he'd go wherever I wanted to go
  18. We chose the 'Your time dining' option where you can dine anytime from 5:45 until 9:30. There is 1 formal night, if you choose to attend or you can go casual and eat in the Lido deck at a couple of different places. Hubby is a big coffee drinker so I'll fill him on your suggestion. I love all these tips and stories about everyone elses experiences!
  19. I can't drink, I have an ulcer!! How bad does that suck? However, it will save us a lot of $$$.
  20. Yep, that's it. We've been going on vacation to Fernandina Beach on Ameilia Island since we've been married and love it. We're going to the Keys, Half Moon Cay, and one other place that I don't remember off hand. I honestly thought I'd never go on a cruise and this was kind of out of the blue, but I'm really excited and looking forward to it.
  21. Stuffing people who cater to you is horrible and I have no issue with the automatic tips. It's good advice to tip upfront cash and if the service is there, to do more at the end. We're leaving from Jacksonville because it's a relatively short drive and I hate to fly. We're going to Savannah on the way down and to Amelia Island on the way home.
  22. The comments on the patch were a little much. It seems really irresponsible to supposedly be a 'news source' and then let random subscribers comment on a situation that they know nothing about. Pcom is one thing, at times rumors abound and misinformation gets posted, but it's not a real source for real news. Don't get me wrong, Pubby does a good job of trying to get the stories that are out there correct, but this is a chat board. Some of those comments were ignorant and uncalled for, I'm glad they were removed.
  23. Hubby's excited about the sushi bar and the adult only areas. We're just looking forward to being together for 7 days without having to think about or worry about anyone else. Not our grown kids, our 11 year old or the grandbabies. Even after 31 years together, we'd rather spend time with each other more than anyone else. The fact that we still really like each other amazes practically everyone we know..........even us sometimes!!
