I can't think about this without getting a lump in my throat and feeling ill. I also can't help thinking about this child wondering why his 'mother' left him with this monster and where she was while this was going on. I can't get what his last moments must have been like out of my head, his dad was killing him and his mother left him there even though she knew that he was a violent, horrible man. OMG, this is too awful.

About 20 years ago, Hubby had RK done on both eyes at the same time and it was done with a scalpel. He was wide awake with this metal torture looking device holding his eye open and he could see the blade coming straight for his eye and he had to be perfectly still. I would either have blinded myself by trying to bolt as you said or called it off and said no freakin' way. He did great though and the results were amazing for the time. It lasted for almost 17 years, but his eyes started changing as he got older and he's once again in glasses.

I don't think the date it was written has anything to do with the message it conveys. As far as I'm concerned, it applies more now than then because kids are growing up so much differently than they did in the 50's. Kids in the 50's already mowed the lawn and went to church. These days kids are at ball practice, music lessons, texting, playing video games, etc., doing anything but what this article suggests they do. So many parents nowadays indulge their children to the point of them being useless to anyone but themselves and it's sickening to see.
