Animal
Look people I have always voted republican,I go to my republican party meetings. But what do you do when a Democrat makes more sense than a republican? I just had a very interesting talk with Will and I asked him some key questions. My first was my second amendment, which he is for. Next was right to life there he is still on track. He said Mike I am a conservative democrat there's still some of us left. Now I am also going to meet with him to talk about other issues next week. Look this could be a great choice in November, let's give him his chance. People will now have a great alternative,we hold him to his word and if not then there is two years from then.

mei lan
I just wanted to get a head start Well, you did, but I'd prefer to wait till after Labor Day to talk any more. Like Madea, I am sick to death of talking politics right now...I just wanna curl up with some good books (not about politics) for a few days. But in answer to your initial post, yes, I am willing to give Avery a chance. I voted for Zell the second go-round, but other than that, haven't voted for a Democrat in a very long time. I do vote the person, and not the party.

feelip
Will Avery is one of the brightest young men I have seen in a long time. Everyone owes it to themselves to at least talk to Will. Whether you are able to pull yourself away from the Republican party and vote for democrat or not, you haven't done your due diligence until you have at least listened to what the guy has to say. If the best attack you can come up with is to try to associate the District 19 representative with Obama, save it. Most of us are way too smart to be buffaloed by such nonsense. For the good of all Paulding County the voters (which is apparently only 20% of the population) need to research and talk to both candidates. There needs to be some debates between the candidates. I want to hear the two of them hash it out. We usually argue back and forth on p.com (which is great fun) but I would like to see more one on one debates between the candidates. I would think both candidates would be willing to do this. This race has all the ingredients to be one of the best races for this seat the county has seen in many years. We might actually get some true representation out of the deal.

lotstodo
I've met Will and he is a very smart well spoken young man. He is in politics for the right reasons, and although I still have reservations about how well he can resist the pressures to "get along" under the dome, I am quite willing to listen to him, just as he was willing to listen to me. He is not an Obama Democrat, and has some good ideas. I would truly enjoy a debate between Will and Paulette. I honestly think that Will would pull off the win in a face to face with no catch phrases, no slogans, no name calling, no pandering, just a good old fashioned discussion of the problems facing Georgia and Paulding, and the best ways to approach them.

Because Obama is trying to implement so much government control we can't elect Democrats who will cooperate with him to get more control over the state of Georgia. A number of the Democrats elected in 2008 ran on conservative platforms and then turned their backs on those promises to the people and voted with Obama. I don't want that for my State and I won't trust any one who runs on that ticket and tries to say he/she is a conservative Democrat. I don't think there is any such thing today. Whether he wears an elephant or a donkey on his lapel has no bearing on his ability to represent the 19th District. First time ever that Americans will be forced by the government to purchase a product they may not want. Last time I looked, since about 1980 the government forced me to buy insurance to cover any damage I do to your car (not mine) and will throw me in jail if I don't. At least this time, I'm the beneficiary of the insurance the government is forcing me to buy. Heck, I can remember at time that if I was just unlucky (I was in the lottery) the government could force me to put on a uniform, crawl in the mud, and shoot at people I didn't have a beef against. It was called the draft and it was a measure of public service most citizens didn't have much love for, especially when they learned what a trumped up POS the Vietnam War was. I mean two years mandatory out of a lot of folks lives is a bit more of an imposition than an insurance policy that will treat you if you're sick. pubby
MaineGal
People should have insurance, that way it doesnt fall on other peoples shoulders to foot the bill. Is this the right way? Maybe not totally, but its better than sitting and doing nothing--meanwhile healthcare costs skyrocket, and you have to be in NASA to pay it. I'm not arguing that point, because we dont know how it will work out until it happens. I think Will Avery deserves the open mindedness of Paulding County. Has every Republican been a saint? Should we not vote in a republican because of other Reps bad decisions? ‘A weak mind is like a microscope, which magnifies trifling things but cannot receive great ones.’ — G. K. Chesterton ‘We all operate in two contrasting modes, which might be called open and closed. The open mode is more relaxed, more receptive, more exploratory, more democratic, more playful and more humorous. The closed mode is the tighter, more rigid, more hierarchical, more tunnel-visioned. Most people, unfortunately spend most of their time in the closed mode.’ — John Cleese ‘Minds are like parachutes — they only function when open.’ — Thomas Dewar ‘People only see what they are prepared to see.’ — Ralph Waldo Emerson ‘No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.’ — Helen Keller ‘It’s amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.’ — Charles F. Kettering ‘Where there is an open mind, there will always be a frontier.’ — Charles F. Kettering

Cabe
I think Will Avery deserves the open mindedness of Paulding County. So does Paulette Braddock. how many of you are basing your decisions on what you truly know, what you've heard, etc.? Or, the misconceptions of your own mind. Should Will Avery be heard? Absolutely. However, so far, I've listened to him and I've heard nothing that tells me WHY he chose to run as a democrat. What about their values does he align with? he hasn't shown me values that I align with. And all I've heard from anyone on here is that he's a "conservative democrat". I find that argument ridiculous quite frankly. What about that represents the people of Paulding County? What about life as an educator and a student has taught him to create jobs? Will he fight and vote to stop Obamacare in our State? And so much more.
