  1. I really enjoyed meeting you and your wife, JJ, and appreciate the work you were doing when I met you both.
  2. Uhm...yeah, from what I understand, they do. A current co-worker of mine's wife interviewed with them a couple of years ago for a management position. As she moved through the interview process with them, they asked questions about her religious affiliations, and told her that employment would be contingent on ACTIVE and verifiable church involvement. It's a private company, I know...but I don't see how that's legal whether they are public or private. I've heard the same thing about their hiring practices from two other people, as well. And I don't understand how they can get away with it,
  3. While I agree with almost everything he said...this tragedy had nothing to do with the movie and its marketing. I think perhaps that's what the poster was responding to. That cover story is sadly coincidental, not sadly accurate. My opinion, of course, but no one could have predicted the homicidal intentions of a deranged young man, and whatever led to his despicable actions, they had nothing to do with the movie or its marketing anywhere but in the deranged young man's mind.
  4. If *I* had made those comments? I'd be fishing lead outta my @ss.
  5. I have absolutely nothing in this conversation to be ashamed about, and I wholeheartedly agree. I suppose it's inevitable that SOME would make this about gun control, but it IS NOT. It's about a psychotic individual who made the choice to open fire in a crowded theater (boy, is that rife with implications) and kill a bunch of innocent people. People like this, sadly, walk among us. And some of them have guns. There is no overt political connection between the two. My heart aches for the victims' families. It also hurts for the family of the perpetrator. I can't even imagine how a m
  6. Apples and oranges, Einstein. The perpetrator in Colorado didn't have a carry permit. People who get carry permits tend to take the responsibility of gun ownership and carrying seriously. It's the ones who break the law that one has to worry the most about, not the ones who follow it.
  7. Looks like your adorable puppy is coming out of her shell!
  8. I'd watch if I could stomach Hannity. I can't stomach Hannity. I'll read the Cliff notes tomorrow. Whatever he said and no matter what he said, this will be beat to death in the media tomorrow. I'll read transcripts and learn what I can. The "truth," I think, is somewhere between the stories and is nothing one person can claim. Hannity is no better than Oprah or Dr. Phil when he pulls this "I have the exclusive interview" crap. He's (Hannity) just plain skeevy all over the place. So I'll pass.
  9. I'm pretty certain that who fired the shot has never been in question. So what's your point?
  10. So again, I take that you know the parties involved personally and are equipped with enough first-hand knowledge to call someone a victim and someone else an a-hole? I don't have that personal knowledge of either family. While I agree that the teenager in question should not have been shot dead, I wasn't there, all I know is what a very biased and fear-mongering media has reported, and I'm not ready to call you, Zimmerman, Martin, or anyone else a blithering idiot, a victim, a hero, or a fine upstanding citizen. Clearly, you ARE. So carry on. You have about a 50/50 chance of being righ
  11. Where did I EVER say or insinuate ANYTHING about anyone being in a gang? Judgmental much, jennylyn?
  12. Did you intentionally overlook the part where it says they were BOTH CHILDREN? DumbA$$.
  13. YeahOkRight...just like the management of this site might proportionately place clearly political threads in the political forum? I think I'll pass on holding my breath on that one. I think folks get it...if a questionably political thread is started in the Cafe that supports the opinions of the site owner, it stays in the Cafe. If a questionably political thread is started in the Cafe that DOESN'T support the opinions of the site owner, it gets placed in the political forum. Seriously? Can you be any less political? Any more biased? NOTE: People who think aren't fooled. But b
  14. Not that it's anyone's business or anyone cares, but I'm voting NO.
  15. So, I take it that you know the deceased and his family personally? Condolences.
  16. Honestly...I'm telling you all...this is what they DO! I worked from home for 6 years. I saw the folks "working" the neighborhood. I spoke with them. THIS IS WHAT THEY DO. My recommendation? Unless you were really, really hoping someone would knock on your door and and high-pressure try to sell you something, send them packing without engaging them in any way. They are NOT interested in your kids' reading material or the cleanliness of your carpets. They are trained to suck you in and suck info out of you that they can then use to suck your neighbors in. We all have the Internet where
  17. If it concerns you about the safety of your kids, call the cops. Opinions on pcom aren't worth a whole lot. If it helps any, folks who want to sell you stuff talk to the neighbors before they knock on your door and ask about other families. They act like they've spoken to the neighbors and say things like, "The Smiths over there--I spoke with them and they have...what?...three kids? And I'm trying to remember their names...", and the oh-so-helpful neighbor says, "Oh the Smiths? Yeah, they have Johnny and Suzie and Martha..." And when Mr. Salesman turns up at your door, he knows your name a
