  1. I know, right? Or maybe this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ58TVYNFro
  2. I know...I think what she said is when the world ends depends on whether or not you're a Christian, but I can't be sure...
  3. Look up there ^ and look here: Albert Snyder v. Fred Phelps Sorry, I was posting as you were.
  4. It's not an easy thing to legislate, certainly, and in fact, is currently a matter before the Supreme Court to be decided this summer, if I'm not mistaken. From this article: "The Supreme Court has never addressed the specific issues of laws designed to protect the "sanctity and dignity of memorial and funeral services," as well as the privacy of family and friends of the deceased. But the high court has recognized the state's interest in protecting people from unwanted protests or communications while in their homes. The justices are being asked to address how far states and priva
  5. No one called for a bill limiting their free speech. So, maybe you'd like to contribute something that's germaine to the conversation? That would be refreshing.
  6. Sounds like a Midwestern chicken and dumplings. And everything tastes better with gravy over it.
  7. Sponsoring a bill in her name is an excellent idea!
  8. No one asserted that we could, did they? No? But measures can be taken to protect the family from their venom. And one way or another, it sounds like that's what will happen.
  9. On my little excursion out earlier today, I stopped at Pizza Hut and bought two pizzas to bring home. So, we're having Meat Lover's and Supreme pizzas for dinner. No cooking, no cleaning=happy TC!
  10. "God sent the shooter to deal with idolatrous America," the group said in a statement. The Westboro church, led by Fred Phelps, believes that tragic events like the deaths of soldiers are punishment for tolerance of homosexuality.
  11. My husband has a tractor and a snow plow...he plowed our whole street and all of the neighbors' driveways between yesterday evening/this morning. Several offered him money when he did it, but he did it because it gave him an excuse to use his snow blade. He's a JD collector/tractor nerd.
  12. Well, I mean...even if it DOES turn out to be that day, what are you going to do? Run? "The end of the world" sounds decidedly final to me.
  13. So...you and hubby stood there and watched them out your front windows for what...20 minutes? 30? Kinky!
  14. I would tend to agree with you. The immediate problem is that the funeral is in two days, and they plan to be there protesting. I'm for whatever legal emergency measures will protect this family from Westboro's idiocy.
  15. Yep. And they have the legal right to assemble, no matter how distasteful it is, nor how horrific it to the rest of us for them to consider it, much less carry it out. And the people have the right to call it wrong, and to do something LEGAL to prevent it, at least AT the funeral, where their idiocy would inflict even more pain on those already suffering from such a great loss.
  16. These people are so sick. From the article: "The Westboro Baptist Church, which is at the center of one of the biggest free-speech cases at the Supreme Court in recent years, is now making a stir in Arizona with its plan to picket the funeral of the 9-year-old girl killed in Tucson Saturday. The Arizona state legislature is weighing an emergency bill to prohibit pickets near funeral sites, according to the Associated Press. State Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat, said the law would be modeled on an Ohio law that says people can’t picket within 300 feet of a funeral. The Ohio l
  17. Snowing here in Powder Springs, too. Very light, but definitely snowing. I'm running out of milk for my grandson. I'm considering a trip to Kroger before everything re-freezes. My husband has spent the whole morning plowing, so I know I can get out...just don't know what it will be like once I do...
  18. Is anyone keeping a running tab of who peed in whose corflakes?
  19. The ultimate irony. I thought about that, but considering this is Metro Atlanta, I doubt that's the case...though my husband plowed our street and all our neighbors' driveways today with his tractor and snow shovel attachment. Not that that's his occupation. He did it because he has a tractor, and a snow shovel that he never gets to use. It's also not like having a clean driveway and street will actually allow anyone to leave the neighborhood tomorrow. No one successfully negotiated out today, and I doubt anyone will tomorrow, either.
  20. OP--if your screen name is also your occupation (as it might be logical to conclude?), one has to wonder what you might be doing at work tomorrow?
  21. I'm thinking this is what we all will be doing, like it or not.
  22. That's good! That's what I figured...he was breathing like that because he was terrified...I would have been too if I was a bird and your cat tried to eat me! Glad he's OK.
  23. Seriously? Well, I have several bags of that same product, left over from my Christmas candy making...but we're all good with milk over here. How did the milk get in the chocolate I wonder? Was is something like that old Reeses commercial where the girl with the chocolate bar rounds a corner and runs into the dude with the jar of peanut butter?
