My DH is a A&P mechanic, but to get the higher level job you need a degree. Same with my oldest son, most of the jobs in his field even though it is clerical it requires a BA. My BIL is a Plumber and he was out of work for almost 2 years. Many jobs now require degrees that didn't a few years ago, due to the fact most people now have degrees. I don't agree with it, but that is just how it is. That is not true. In MD they had on campus the trade school, where you could take classes to learn a trade if you weren't going the college route. In GA they asked my 8th grader if she was intereste

Uhhhh my oldest son is doing it right, getting his college paid for and getting college credits while serving in the Air Force. Gets on the job training that will guarantee a great paying civilian job when he gets out. As of now they can give it to their dependent wife/husband or children. So no you don't have to serve just be related to a VET.
