  1. Exactly. I've had to go through this process many, many, MANY times before (not with a room in my own home) and it just takes a little time and aggravation. The process does work and is in place for a valid reason. It's a pain but it is necessary.
  2. IN this marketplace, how likely is it for someone to leave a job voluntarily? Employers have the control and are almost god-like as more protections are removed.
  3. I agree. It is. But the rationale is solid. The reasoning for this is that there has to be some added protections for the tenant who may not have another place, can afford another place, or be placed in such a hardship, at the whim of the landlord. A place to live is a big deal. A landlord with the power to say "You're out in 30 days" does nothing to the landlord since she still has a dwelling; the tenant is on the street. So the rationale is to give the extra protection to the tenant, even if it burdens the landlord a bit more. The law is trying to be give an added protection to t
  4. As state legislatures remove protections from the employee, these will become more common place. SInce GA is a right to work state, you either sign it, or you're gone. You've got no protection from that. When you have a complaint, you must first go through the arbitration process before you have access to the legal system. That means the company could be completely wrong, but it would take so long to get through the arbitration process that you have no fight left to then go the courts. And in the arbitration process, your legal rights do not have to be observed, simply what is considered equit
  5. Nope. And since there is no agreement, there is a longer notice required. There is no difference if the room is inside our not. Its their room and the landlord is a landlord. The landlord is not permitted to enter that room without permission from the tenet.
  6. Noooo. That's not what I said. If you are going to take what the lady said in her article then take ALL of it. She said public broadcasting listeners were highly educated.
  7. So these were the callers and not the reporters you're talking about, right? The audience are the highly educated. So the educated people who understand things a bit better are asking questions that you would reflect a pro Democratic slant. Hmmm. Educated people. Hmmm,
  8. BS. And what station is it you listen to? AM?
  9. I won't speak for her but I will ask you a couple of questions. You do realize it is not just PBS but it is the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a quasi-public entity, right? You do realize the CPB is more than just television, right? You do realize we don't have a national retirement plan, right? You do realize we don't have a national school system, right? You do realize we don't have a national health plan as of yet, right?
  10. Do you understand you just quoted from a far right wing site that took the quotes of context? Nor is it accurate since even the person "quoted" is not a board member. Do you bother reading your own links? You're right. But what if Copernicus had done that?
  11. This is PRECISELY why we need public funding of Public Broadcasting: corporate money that buys influence and controls the information can sway the electorate. There has to be a non-commercialized source of information, arts, educational programming, and general entertainment that is not bought by the corporate money that controls everything else.
  12. They are not a leftwing mouthpiece. They report. They report both sides. Just because you want to have the information everyone hears be the rightwing spin of Fox News doesn't mean that reporting giving both sides is bias.
  13. There are some things that are in the public's interest that they should be publicly funded and free of corporate influence and commercialism. Public broadcasting is one of those things.
  14. Since when does an employer decide the medical options for an employee? There is an option for religious organizations and that is to give up government money. If you take Caesar's money, you take Caesar's rules.
  15. Thank You! I hope you enjoy the Coates de Rhone we sent home with you! If you need another, just let me know! And enjoy the cheese gift certificate from Omaha Steaks, too!
  16. Just finished a gathering of friends as we watched the debate. We had several bottles of good wine and some good cheese to cap off a nice evening. 17. And you are the very person prone to other failures when the science is so overwhelming.
  18. Yeah, all that teaching the Golden Rule is for Wussies, right? I mean, why should we tell anyone to treat others the way they would want to be treated. Why bother telling someone that they should treat other people with respect. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there and only the strongest, with the biggest guns, and the most money will win in the end right?
  19. That's a good point. I'm sure many people liked reading the narrative of what happened. I had not thought of that. On the other hand, my opinion (only that) is that we all know how the bomb threat stuff works. We all know there were students who would capitalize on every opportunity to get out of school, including feigning fear. I also doubt seriously if Standard Operating Procedures were not followed. The thing is, I am highly skeptical of the veracity of the detail report we're reading. That's like taking Obama's campaign speech as 100% truth - we all know better.
  20. And you know correct procedures were not followed inside the school, when all the while you were outside the school? Do you have a copy of the Operations Manual that dictates what is to be done in that situation? Would you please provide us a copy of the Standard Operating Procedures so we may then have the school answer the complaints you're making against those SOPs? Feigning fear to get out of school is still displaying a desire to just get out of being in class. After all, how many school bomb threats have you had in your life? You know the routine by now. And that your parent ret
  21. I'm sure this won't be the last of the rulings on it, but a Missouri Federal Court has ruled that the contraception mandate on all employers is valid, even for those employers who object to birth control use, and counseling, devices or procedures that may terminate a pregnancy. The judge ruled that providing the coverage is no different than providing the salary that may be used for the same ends. My link
