  1. I'll be more than willing to take it!
  2. I know that that the hummers are attracted to red. I was going to make a comment about red velvet cake, that we all seem to enjoy, but I do know that humans and hummers react differently to certain things. Good question about why the stuff in the stores are colored red though.
  3. Thanks! MIL is the one who gave me the recipe years ago, but she now has Alzheimers (sp) and couldn't help me out. Thanks again!
  4. But are my proportions correct on the sugar to water?
  5. I know that I can buy the already packaged stuff at Walmart, and at some point I will, but right now I'm just trying to get the feeders out. I know that my MIL told me years ago that you could do just a simple mixture of sugar and water, with just a tiny bit of red food coloring (to attrack them) and it used to work. I think it was 1 part sugar to 3 parts water. Anyone know?
  6. Well crap, who's next? Sorry for him, his family, etc. - prayers going out to all.
  7. I've got a 500 piece puzzle here, never used.
  8. I'm a major lover of vinegar, and when I was a kid the family would just take fresh cukes and pour a little vinegar on them, let them sit for a while and then voila - of course the addition of the sliced onion makes it that much better. I'd recommend either cider vinegar or on of the flavored - red wine, etc. Balsamic will give it a sweeter taste, but it does add flavor. The plain white vinegar is OK in a pinch, but I mainly buy that to use for cleaning (miracle cleaner I must add.) If you just want "cuke juice" just slice them up, salt them a little and let them sit. Put them in a st
  9. Yum! I'm so much in the mood for fried green tomatoes, but I want to see my little plants actually produce some red ones - I'm also really in the mood for a good old fashioned tomato sandwich. I suggest you go back and get some of that salad to go, and then try to analyze it at home. You can do it. If it's clear, you think it started as vinigarette (sp?) with lots of cuke juice, you just may have the recipe right there.
  10. What else did you have? The salad sounds great!
  11. Sounds wonderful! I know that duck fat is supposed to be great to fry with, and there's nothing like fresh caught fish from the Gulf, unless of course it's fresh caught fish, lobsters or clams from the New England! Enjoy your dinner!
  12. That's a good thing - anything to keep them reading and spending time together.
  13. Well, aren't we quite the gourmet? Happy Birthday, and where in the hello around here to you find duck fat? And please don't tell me out of the local pond, please...................... That snapper sounds great!
  14. I'm ashamed (not really) to admit that I've never read any of them, nor seen any of the movies. We've got at least the first one or two of both here, I just never got around to reading/watching them. I know that I'm in the minority (I guess). Enjoy!
  15. Since I have no idea what that is I would guess so.
  16. When I was only cooking for 3, technically, I normally cooked for 6 out of habit - don't ask me why, but it was nice to have leftovers.
  17. Taco salad, and yes, I've done the same thing - gone to the store and planned all kinds of great meals that I just don't feel like cooking. Currently trying to get ready for my own yard sale, so we're doing easy here. It's hard to get inspired anymore when there are just the two of us.
  18. This is turning into a daily celebrity happening.
  19. Where is Brooke's Salvage?
  20. I'll Be There I'll Be There Just call my name And I'll Be There Don't you know baby, yeah I'll Be There I'll Be There................................. Is Joe going to sell tickets?
