  1. No rain here at the moment - East Paulding area.
  2. I'm sorry, I didn't know him, but that is very young. May he rest in peace and may God hold his wife and children in his arms.
  3. Good for you, where do you work? There's nothing like homemade pimento cheese - it wasn't sweet I hope. I just can't abide that sweet stuff at the grocery store. Do I sound like I'm 80 or 90 years old and from the North? I swear I'm not, and I swear i'm not concealing a Confederate pistol under my dress. That would be pretty hard to do in these ratty old jean shorts I'm wearing. My dear FIL taught me how to make his pimento cheese recipe years ago, and he's a pure born southern child. Good old sharp cheddar, shredded, some regular mayo, not that sweet miracle whip stuff, a litt
  4. Joan's is open on the weekends, Sal's is open on the weekends and in the evenings. We used to enjoy Bandido's because at the time both my husband and I worked out of town during the week - he in downtown Atlanta and me in Marietta. The hot dog place just opened, and I hope that it will do well. If it's open on the weekends we'll be sure to check it out. We tried to have breakfast at the reopened City Cafe, but it had shut down within weeks after it reopened. We ended up (ick, at Waffle House). Hickory Hut is also open on the weekends, and we've eaten there a couple of times. You are com
  5. I meant no offense to you or the other businesses downtown - what exactly does your business involve. I think the point of the original thread was that restaurants don't do very well in downtown Dallas because their hours are not condusive to the public coming around for a leisurely time/meal, especially if said public doesn't work directly in downtown Dallas. If you're a CPA, attorney, etc., well, I can understand that you may be doing well. My whole point is that there's not enough leisure type attractions downtown for people to be attracted to. No offense meant. And since most of these
  6. I agree. Apparently someone took offense on one of my other posts here and tried to defend all the businesses in "downtown Dallas". We've frequented one restaurant there off and on for a number of years - Saturday mornings for breakfast, and then have done our best to find something to do on a Saturday in "downtown Dallas". There are a couple of antique shops that we've been in, but one only seems to always have the same inventory - the other, if it's still open, we've bought a couple of things from, but other than that...........................what the heck is there to do? The farmer's m
  7. When did the Azalea House close? And what were their hours when they were open? We never got the chance to go there.
  8. I don't think they're open on the weekends - just during the week during hours that only are convenient to folks close to the downtown area.
  9. I just spoke my mind with my fingers, and I deleted it. I know there are die hard lovers of that place, and the food is good, I'll give them that, so, I'll just leave it at that and go on about my business.
  10. I do believe that has a heck of a lot to do with it. Sadly to some, but true. But honestly - the hours that the establishments keep are just unrealistic for most people to be able to abide by. Sorry to say, but I think they'll suffer because of it, and know that it's just not reasonable to only be open a few hours during the week M-F. They'd be better served by staying open on the weekends. Sux, I know, but that just goes with the territory - especially this territory.
  11. Apparently you're feeding your family homemade beef stew while I'm sitting here starving!
  12. I knew what you meant, I was being sarcastic, but not at your expense, please don't take it that way.
  13. That's great for homeowners, not so much for business folk. I know where you're coming from, but I think the point was about local restaurants.
  14. I didn't mean to offend anyone, or dis the new restaurant. So...........why did Bandito's move or go under. And, since I appear to be in the minority here - how many people actually work close to "downtown Dallas"? Sorry, but if these places are only open 10:00 - 2:00 M-F, there really aren't a lot of people who will be able to frequent their places. As I see it, "downtown Dallas" could really use some good weekend spots. I know, I know, there's the theater, but these restaurants are not open then. Again, not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just sayin'.
  15. As opposed to what? So, Bandito's is gone, why, and the new place that took over the City Cafe is only open odd hours. For people who don't work in downtown Dallas, well..............these places just aren't going to get that much business I'm afraid. At least Bandito's was open on the weekends and at night. Not trying to be a party pooper here, but if these folks really want to stay in business, their going to have to cater to more than less than "bankers' hours". Anyway, I too wish them luck. We're always on the look out for a new place to eat locally, other than fast food
  16. I continue to wish you the best of luck. We're apparently neighbors. All the best to you and yours.
  17. I want both and I want them now, but for now I'm not going anywhere. Can you just come to my kitchen and make them?
  18. Mmmmmmmmm, sole slaw. Sorry, couldn't resist
  19. I heard that they killed Colonel Mustard..........with a pipe......................in the library. Or something like that.
  20. Did you mean 120/East Paulding? There's no Waffle House at 92/East Paulding. Regardless, this is a little to close for comfort.
  21. I too am sorry for your loss, I know how it is to lose your parents.
